There pretty powerful for a little pair of cutters, but I haven't cut anything other than cable ties and copper wire. The chrome started peeling off the first time I used them, but other than that they've been good:

WTF!!!:shocking: I though knipex is good on everything including the chrome finish!! luckily mine X cut is just polish finish. by the way :

Re: got a bit carried away with some eBay auctions action... :p

so, i was looking for a lousy little Hozan C-321 replacement pin on Rakuten an ended on eBay looking a a couple auctions from Japan with low starting bids and some tools that i either wanted or should want since i did not have them. ended up "winning" the two. added the pin and a small blue Hozan toolbox to boot. shipping, even as a "small packet" was more expensive than all the stuff i bought. damn. i hate that.

so, a few pixes to wet your appetite a hide my dismay at being so stupid:

that B-85 is a Toyo but i won't mind the Hozan branding since i do own lots of their tools and like most of them. that and it will be plastered with Hello Kitty! stickers.

oops! some neat little 3.peaks stainless steel nippers from .hk showing on top!

first, a little disappointment, the P-810 stainless tweezer set is made in Pakistan... made in Japan price though. :(

that's all for tonight. ;)

more to come later.

ps. box was totally new this morning, i even added felt pads underneath it to preserve its pristine look the longer possible. alas my nosy mother happened during crappy photoshoot.

box is now no longer "new". fell on concrete from 1.2m... thnaks mom <3!

Nice! I wouldn't worry about the quality of the tweezers. Pakistan has the market cornered on stainless steel medical instruments.

Nah. Cheap disposable/semi-disposable ****. :shocking: Good for cutting, grinding, ... to make specialty tools out of though (example).

If you want top quality tweezers, go Swiss (Ideal-Tek or Dumont for example). Followed by German (VOMM, which is the ODM for Wiha), Italian, and finally Pakistani IME. :bounce:

This page might be of interest regarding Pakistani made surgical instruments.

i do *not* worry about the quality of them tweezies for what i'll be doing with them, if i do not sell them before opening the plastic bag they're in that is... :(
Pakistani medical stuff is quite worrisome quality-wise methinks. been using indian scalpel blades for the last 26 years and have never had a bad thing to say about them except that they did not last as long as the made in England Swann-Mortons, but they were so cheap -like an eighth of the price- it was well worth it.

on the other hand, every single .pk-made blade i've used(random reps gifts and samples so many types and brands over the years) has been so disappointing it wasn't even worth it to have them in a drawer just in case.
my two vets have the exact same experience: no Pakistan made stuff allowed in their op rooms. ever. they're so cheap some were already rusted inside the individual foil packets. sorry, no more of this **** for me.
hell, i'll consider buying PRC stuff *before* even considering them. :wtf:

Nah. Cheap disposable/semi-disposable ****. :shocking: Good for cutting, grinding, ... to make specialty tools out of though (example).

i use old euro-made stuff for that: cheap/free and longer lasting than most of the new stuff being peddled by local resellers.

no need for *top* quality here but i have a quality threshold for stuff like that. except when cheap is needed, in this case cheap swiss stuff always trumps super cheap stuff except super cheap swiss stuff, of course.

Matco still has them but not in blue/grey.. http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/screwdrivers-and-sets/screwdriver-sets-hook-and-picks/sets/
While we are on the subject(kind of), any European made cotter pin pullers ?
http://www.zoro.com/g/Cotter Pin Puller/00057694/None
when i search i only find imports like https://www.autofaszination.ch/shop/p/tuerverkleidungswerkzeug/22582/splintzieher/ or http://www.spiral.at/Profi-Splintenzieher-Zange_1_5.pid.7080182.htm I never saw something like that from german companies. I guess the people here use "Splintentreiber" ("cotter pin driver") which are called "pin punch" in the US :)

Hard to find quality used here in the US IME, so I keep what good stuff I do have unmolested (US & German surgical grade, and it's mostly 10 - 12" stuff). Awesome for fishing screws.

If I had more or could find more easily, I'd be more willing to consider modifying it instead of Pakistani stuff that can be had all over eBay.

It's an excerpt from a book they sell (written by their CEO). Granted, it's on the simple/dumbed down side, but it could still be useful for someone just entering a medical/dental/veterinary program with no requisite knowledge (absolute entry level).

As per the "paywall" bit ... :headscrat Most of what I see there is standard stuff (quality standard certs), and some showing off (listed companies they have GPO contracts with).

I just had a look at my other knipex side cutters and the chrome is peeling on them too, probably worse than the x cuts. Doesn't worry me too much, but I'll probably buy the polished/black atramentized tools next time. I was going to use the x cuts to work on electronics since they're small enough, but chrome peel can cause all sorts of problems with that type of work!

Gardening with (ultra light) Bahco secateurs. Felco were very nice too but a bit too heavy for my gf's hands. She has chosen the PX series (small handle size)

Yes they are, nor did I specify that.

Like you, I'm not sure how the EX line came into being. Perhaps it being a condition to keep them as their tweezer ODM (very risky on Ideal-tek's behalf IMHO, if this is the case)? :headscrat

FWIW, I've seen Ideal-Tek's cutters rebranded elsewhere as well (brand escapes me ATM though).

NOS stuff found recently, an awl with translucent yellow handle from Germany:

will be used for cable housing after cutting mostly.

some real Bost pliers, last series before StanleyB&D finishes to kill the brand, the last of a great french pliers makers tradition that started with Ducommun et Marti, uninterrupted since then, with lots of other great brands, long disappeared from the tool scene and most memories but not forgotten by those who used and still use them:

So what would be the Bost after the B&D era ?

they're killing the brand and letting go the people making the pliers, now robots will be making Facom branded stuff(the Arbois factory is already a "Facom" logo'd factory) and whatever they'll need as pliers and screwdrivers for the Proto, Stanley, USAG catalogs + OEM'ing for other brands like screwies for KTC and numerous others. :wtf:

until they can close the factory and ship design and robots to PRC.

Oui excuse moi.

Comment differencier les Bost de qualité (donc avant la période B&D) des Bost "pas terribles" et donc faites sous le label StanleyB&D ?

Un logo ou un truc qui puissent les différencier ? Merci !
