Here's an updated pic of my box! Lot's of new toys..brought back the Stahlwille 3/8" set, Gedore pieces, Wera stuff, set of Ko-Ken wheel sockets, and the Hazet 8816 while visiting Bielefeld, Germany for work.
nice tool set up !! What cantilever box do you have ? Hazet ? So how do you like your new german tools ? :)
maybe they have a hypoallergenic coating for the handles (built-in moisturizing feature)...
If herr Monte could translate,
"The ideal gift for valentines day, world womens day, mothers day or easter - for woman who tackle things to change their world. Proven Wiha quality from the soft finish series in a limited design. Perfect for ambitious and style-consciously handywoman."

Gedore socket rail for 3/8" Hazet sockets (magnetically mounted on Hazet Assistent):
no Hazet ? :shocking: ;)
Do you have a pic of your garage with all your Hazet goodies ? :)

wow nice Hazet set !!!

Hi,

does anybody have additional information about my ½” Hazet Set. As far as I know it was fabricated from 1933. I was wondering about the mint-green paintwork which is 100% original. The sockets are metric from 12mm to 32mm. It seems that these tools were hardly used the last 80 years.
I would be grateful for any information !

What sizes does the socket set skip?

I've noticed that some German tools seem to me to have unusual sizes available (20, 23, 25, 26, 28, etc.) whereas many US and Japanese sets seem to have standardized on 21, 22, 24, 27, 30, and 32. Are these "unusual" (to me) sizes common in German fasteners? Monte? Anyone?

Then the Hazet 600N combination wrenches are the way to go! They are the strongest wrenches on the market (according to the test of Oldtimermarkt).

I will have to check that out!! I don't have many Hazet tools, so this is perfect excuse!

Yes! It's a Hazet 190. My new German tools are, well, new! I have to do my brakes and I'm just waiting on my rotors to come in. Perfect time to break in the set!

First impressions though, I will say that the Stahlwille sockets are the most impressive. I would really like to know how they get the finish on them...almost like some sort of special shot peen or something. They are not like Gedore and Hazet, or Snap-On or any other finish I've ever seen on any tool.

Stahlwille sockets are quite beautiful.

no Hazet ? :shocking: ;)
I've had the Hazet sockets on a Hazet rail yes, but Gedore's are more advanced (magnetic) and easier in use (lock/unlock). The benefit is also the blue color :D

Well, since about 2 years when we moved to our new house I'm almost finished with my garage in Hazet style, so before the end of the year I've planned to do a photo shoot for a garage showoff topic... so yes, I'll have that pretty soon. :)

@Mr MoAiZo: Please resize.
3264x2448 is a bit too much for a forum ;)
I concur. :D

Assuming your not sure how to do this, open in a paint program or similar (image editor), and resize (percentage is really quick and easy). ;)

i think the american and japanese manufacturers focus on what is really necessary in metric sockets :)

Yes! It's a Hazet 190. My new German tools are, well, new! I have to do my brakes and I'm just waiting on my rotors to come in. Perfect time to break in the set! .
if you have a chance to take some "action" pics of your new tools helping you to change the brakes..... :)

indeed

I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy ahead of you there Monte, with that place in Australia and as far as in looking for and purchasing Bernstein tools.

When I first found out about Bernstein tools (couple years back) I searched the web and remember seeing that place in Australia and inquired but the cost for shipment, which far exceeded the price for the tools themselfs, so I skipped it. There's also a place in South Africa, that sells Bernstein tools but same thing.

I even contacted the manufacturer, Bernstein tools directly but they would not sell to me only to a distributor. But I didn't give up.

Went ahead and purchased my Berstein tools through a place located in Amsterdam! Shipping wasn't that bad and I got exactly the Bernstein tool set that I wanted.

Also had a couple of very good Chaps over in England that helped me out with a few specific tools that they were kind enough to purchase for me and send them too me.

So over all, I'm good! :pimpflash

You see, once I set my goal to get certain tools that are worth my effort, time and money, I continue on and don't stop till I get them.
Where there's a will, there's a way!

Thanks for the Picture, another great Set. I´d really like that wooden Handle.

Hi Oilfinger,

I just found your set in the 1949 catalog.

Best regards,
Philipp

Thanks a lot Philipp for browsing your Hazet archive material !

Is that mentioned blue-yellow paintwork that mint green shown on my Photos or is it that well know used up to today Hazet Blue ?
Did you know approximately the year of that Hazet 900 Set shown above.

You´re welcome!

I think they used mint green (apart from the logo) for the boxes from beginning of the 1930s till they introduced new boxes in 1952. It´s only a well thought guess, because most pictures are black and white :) .

The approximately year of the 900 set is also around 1949 as yours, but the wooden handle is different, so no exact dating possible (yet). And of the 1950 catalog I found only the front cover...

The development of the ratchets is also interesting. On the middle picture the sizes are distorted. In real, to see on the right picture, they are from bottom to top: 29,5 cm (11.61 inch), 25,0 cm (9.84 inch) and 18,8 cm (7.4 inch).

There were other ratchets later, but I took these three for comparison.

Best regards,
Philipp

After this mint green color, there's also a light blue (pre-'65) before the color changed to the current Hazet blue.
(but that's maybe a bit too much Hazet info for this thread. Check out this for my color comparison: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7214378#7214378)
O.K. thank you! I read these sites some weeks ago. I got a further more Hazet Assistent speciallity thing. So i should better skip there.

Philipp, thanks again! That was a lot more information i´d expected to get to this set. The original catalogue site is extra classy! Really like that mentioned Additition "Fine burnished Version 15% extra"! :D
Cheers!

Seriously? Hazet also sells they same rails? Only the blue is a bit different, but maybe the same manufacturer anyway..?

By the way: I think it's only in 3/8" available, right?
they sold them in the past...(discontinued it seems)
in 1/4": Hazet 850 MH L
in 3/8": Hazet 880 MH L
in 1/4": Hazet 900 MH L

same oem: www.timesavershop.com

What an odyssey for a coupleof Bernstein tools :) I hope they´re worth it ;)
Australia always seems to be expensive....i think prices in the UK are usually good, often better than in germany etc. Do you have some pics of your tools ? :)

Bosch DeciLED 10,8 volt cordless light

metal snap-hook and magnet...

can be locked in several positions...

for use as work bench light for example...

if surface is non magnetic...

bottom has a 1/4" thread so you can attach the light to a camera tripod or a measuring tool (laser, level) tripod...

stands like this...

and this...

various uses...:

Yes, to me, Bernstein tools are very well worth it, just not worth paying basically twice in shipping than what they actually cost-which are expensive by the way. One can not only see but feel the professional quality of the tools that Bernstein produces. Very well worth paying for. Its a lot less $$$ in shipping from Europe than from Australia or South Africa, that's for damn sure!

As for pictures, well I don't take pictures of every tool that I get. If I did I'd have a **** load of post in GJ, but I have posted a few. Here is a picture that I posted of a Bernstein nut driver set back in 2013, reference post #7146.....

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2926225#post2926225

....for those who have doubt about my fixation of Bernstein tools. :D

Hello to everyone!
I'm an electrician engineer and i'm interested to buy some screwdrivers.
I have already a set of Stanley (Stanley 5-62-573 FatMax VDE) and i'm not satisfied with the quality.

I'm looking some products from wera
a)http://www-de.wera.de/product_detai...kraftform_stainless_vde_3160_i_7_rack&lang=en
b)http://www-de.wera.de/product_detai...us__series_100_vde_160_i_165_i_7_rack&lang=en
c)http://www-de.wera.de/product_detai...tform_comfort_vde_1160_i_1165_i_7_vde&lang=en

or facom set ADVE.J6PB FACOM

Also i'm looking to buy this http://www.knipex.com/index.php?id=1216&L=1&page=group_detail&parentID=1324&groupID=1522
*(only 2 pieces 4mm, 5mm i think is the most recent)

and this http://www.knipex.com/index.php?id=1216&L=1&page=group_detail&parentID=1324&groupID=1520
*(only 2 pieces 10 and 13 ithink is the most recent)

Which of these would you choose?
Thanks a lot!

Personally, I'd buy the Knipex. They're made in Germany and the quality is top-notch. (While Wera is a German brand, they aren't manufactured in Germany for the most part.)

Have you looked at PB Swiss and Witte? Those are also top-of-the-line screwdriver specialists
