frost plenishing hammer made in Germany

Sent from the sticks
WOW, I don't know what it is but that hammer looks nice. I notice it has Picard stamped on the head. How does Frost figure in? A rebrand for retail?

Frost is a car or bike restoration company that is basically a retail outfit for High quality restoration tools and consumables I get the stuff at a discount through my work they are pretty much equal quality of the snap on body hammers at half the price, I plan on rounding and polishing the circular end, it really is a lovely hammer

Hi All. I have been following the site for a long time but just registered when a issue made me confused... Anyway..

I attached a file and as you will see all three vices look very similiar to each other. First two from Germany, last one is from Turkey.

Can someone inform me, how can be very similiar to each other?
And, one of them must be the original and others must be copier?
And, which one do you prefer to buy as the quality matters?

Thanx.

Not sure about Turkey.
But if I was in western continental Europe, I would hands down go for a used Leinen, Schlegel, or Boley vise. They can be had for great prices in Germany (used)
Nothing wrong with the Heuer design and equivalents. But the dove tail vises are just overall robuster IMO.

Edit: Gressel vises are good too. Just booku money!

Anyone have any experience with ruko drill bits? Also is there a difference between the titanium and hss bits? Price is the same

Titanium bits are junk.

Titanium nitride is a very hard coating that reduces friction when applied to cutting tools. It's essentially a solid lubricant. A quality HSS drill bit that's TiN coated will outperform an uncoated one.

I wouldn't trust drills bought from places like HF to be TiN coated even though they appear to be.

I tried the XL Pliers wrench at work today to remove a seized 1-1/2" aluminium to stainless thread, I tell you its a *** kickin tool. It just had not enough leverage at the end to brake it free so I had to use a normal pipe wrench, which was a POS to use... But to put it back on it was mega

The german made Heuer vice is the original. The others are a copy (the Hazet is probably from Kanca). Successful and well known products/designs are always copied...
Ridgid would be another german made option for drop forged vices.

TIN will wear on the long (or short) run.... For working on cars i think a good HSS-G set will work for you.
For drilling into sheet metal i recommend the Dewalt Extreme bits:
http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-extreme-2-hss-drill-bit-set-29pc/20064
they make round holes even in thin 1mm (etc.) material instead of triangular shaped holes like regular bits. They also offer a small set:

I am an authorized dealer of both brands. The Brockhaus Heuer vices are made in Germany http://www.jensputzier.com/Brockhaus-Heuer/ and there is no comparison to the Hazet one. The Hazet vise is made in Turkey and if someone asks I will first inform them that the Hazet vise is not anywhere near what they would expect. If they want to buy it just because it is Hazet, fine for me. But this vise would get me a negative rating on Ebay if I would put it up there.

New Knipex and Orbis.

(The "older" Alligator is just for comparison).
The Cobra ES is especially for work in tiny areas.
The little Cobra 125mm and the little pliers wrench 125mm come in handy for work on motorcycles.
I was astonished how effortlessly you can cut big wire in comparison to (high leverage) side cutters with the Cobolt!

The Cobra XXL with its 560mm is just enormous.
It will replace my (cheap) pipe wrenches.

The Orbis Torqy next to a Knipex pliers wrench. Both ~250mm long.

Mines are rebranded as "Uniqat". But there are Torqy pliers also labeled as "Protec.class".
For 22€ incl. shipping I thought I should give them a try as Orbis belongs to the Knipex group and produces in their own plant in Germany.

They are very well finished. They don't wobble at all. The grips are comfortable - but not as good as the Knipex/NWS ones.
I did buy these as you don't have to press a button to adjust them. You just have to open them, then slide them in position and push the handles together.
A very easy and fast way to adjust your plier!

Monte, I had a look at Roller's site. I'm suspecting that some of their tools are from Rothenberger. What's your opinion ?

Many thanks
