I think I would fix that not being able to lock it open real fast if it were mine.

Snap on Needle nose "Talon" grip. It seems more beefy than other pliers I have seen but still very slim at the very end.

The power of the grip is really amazing and graps everything very secure, even a hair, tested!!! What I really like is that is long but it is not bending with applied force, and the serration on the jaws is amazin.

I think knipex has a similar pattern of the serration but Stahlwille says nothing on their website. Anyone know how the Stahlwille jaws compare to Knipex?

These stands seem to be everywhere. The UK Ministry of Defence have the ones sold by Weber Hydraulics (UK) in probably the most durable finish.

the older ones (the blue ones) were spanish made iirc, the new ones look like a typically asian type jack. I think the old ones were like these.

The sanding blocks are pretty nice....I like the fact that they can be connected to a shop vac to cut down on airborn dust during sanding...

I seem to recall that Snap On bought out the old 'Vacuam Grip' company many years back!

I have a pair of cutters and a pair of needle nose that were the last of the original Vacuam Grip designs, which were still available into the 80's! What tools they are! Nice designed handles. No plastic grips to get messy or damaged in a real workshop. And a level of quality unsurpassed by anything else before or since!

The regular, vinyl grip, designs of the same era were good too. But not as good!

Unfortunately, as time has passed, every redesign sees the designs cheapened. Yes, the 'Talon Grip' are good tools. But the original joint has given way to a much cheaper lap joint, and the finish isn't as good as the traditional patterns, and nothing like the Vac Grips!

When I see the Snap On publicity about the Talon Grips, the phrase "Don't piss in my pocket and tell me it's raining" comes to mind!

If you like the current offerings (and, despite my whinging, they are still a good tool, and I suspect long lasting) you'll be blown away by the vintage stuff!

Oh no - I've just referred to tools that I bought new as 'vintage'! God knows what that makes me!

Got the small set a week ago. Great screwdrivers!

That Said i have a single bahco #2 Phillips that I have owned for about ten years. It was always my go to for Phillips heads. I notice it's still my go to despite the quality and comfort of the weras.

Good quality tool that has no wear (other than the black fading on the head) and very comfy handles.

Wondering whether I should buy more to supplement the wera set.

Being bahco I assume they are European made but will check before buying. I guess it's kind of like the American members looking for made in USA tools.

Not quite so picky myself (and holland doesn't make many tools) but I do prefer to buy made in Europe / made in USA. For me it's very much a case of securing jobs in the western world and less reliance on the Far East.

I suppose there are perfectly good well made / quality controlled mad in China / Taiwan tools. But consistency in quality is also and issue and I can simply not be bothered in the hit and miss process of finding good stuff. Especially considering there are great reliable European and US tool makers.

Some retailers list the coo on screwdrivers as Spain but their own sites don't mention COO.
