Mine will arrive today too! Though I think here in the USA we don't get as nice a case. I wish it had a ball detent, but I guess nothing is perfect (though it looks like in one of your photos it does have a pin?)
No,it has a hole to insert pins with the sockets for extra secure.I think it is more suitable for automotive work the impact to has a friction ring because we use many sockets so it is easiest to change them,i believe an impact with ball detent is more suitable for industrial use.
Btw...with what batteries did you bought it?

Not a country of origin to be detected though

The only tool in this set that has coo it is the 1/4 inch screwdriver handle(france). The others don't have coo's but the ratchets are made in italy and all the other parts(sockets,extensions....)are made in taiwan.
I have this set and i love it.It is the best value for money set i think.

Oh, there is a friction ring? Good! I thought it only had retention by putting the band/pin on the socket. I also got the 3.1. I already own the 5.5 with my BS 18 LTX BL Quick set. I thought about getting the bare tool, but the 3.1 set got me 2 3.1 batteries and a charge for only $93.50 more.

How is the quality of the plastic case and the hinges in particular. It seems to be the weak point of plastic cases.

Thanks

If you are asking for the facom set....
The case and the hinges i think are very good but the the inside plastic insert is not good. The hinges secure very good but the case haven't dropped of my hands yet to see if it will open.

If you want a better case but similar items you can look at the wurth set

The price and the quality are very good.
Also i like very much the wurth ratchet handles.

Yes, we get a horrible quality case, but the tool is much cheaper here ($329 with the 3.1 batteries normally, on sale for $279.65). That said, it still makes Metabo one of the most expensive power tools in the USA. On the other hand, set of Stahlwille sockets that cost $130 in Germany will be around $450 in the USA.

I paid around 420€-470$.
The milwaukee mid-torque isn't more expensive in the USA?

Pics when it will arrive(especially for the case).

The Milwaukee is the same price here as the Metabo, but with bigger batteries (or for $30 less you can get a ball detent). However, in the USA brands like Milwaukee/Makita/Dewalt often have big sales where if you buy multiple tools you get them for much cheaper. You'll never see that with Metabo here.

This happens because metabo is a premium brand.

Any thoughts on Hazet vs Stahlwille impact sockets? I'm leaning towards Stahlwille for the finish. Also, any thoughts on Hazet/Gedore/Stahlwille for 1/2" drive? I have my own thoughts, but wonder what you guys thing. It seems like the Stahlwille 512 QR N is the best ratchet out there, but maybe I'm wrong?

Sweet buy on that Metabo. When I bought mine, I bought it bare, and it came w/ a Metaloc tray. Imported me some Metalocs, and boom.

(handle goes to the drill, it doesn't fit w/ that configuration though)

I need to pickup more LiHD batteries, those 3.1Ah are the sweetest ever. They put out more amps than the 10 cell 4.0/5.2Ah packs, but lose a bunch of weight.

For impact sockets i have sunex so i don't have opinion about the others,in the future i plan to buy some koken or momento impacts.About the ratchets....
For 1/2 drive i have the facom palm control, the gedore 1993 u20 and the stahlwille 512qrn.The stahlwille is the worst, it is like a cheap chinese ratchet,i don't like the handle also. The facom is the smoothest and i think more suitable for automotive work because of the round head. The godore is very nice but very bulky.

I have the Hazet 72 tooth that is decent. It has pretty low backdrag, but not as low as my Snap-On Dual80. Definitely better than my 72 tooth Beta though, which shares the mechanism with Facom. I still prefer the Beta though, the handle is easily my favorite.

Never handled the Gedore or the Stahlwille.

The problem with the Hazet 916-1 from my perspective is that the head is extremely thick. I feel like it would have a hard time in tight spots.

I have the 8816-1 and i find it extremely smooth.I want to buy also the 916-1 and the only thing that keeps me away is that it is short compared to other 1/2 ratchets.

I don't think so. I tried registering the batteries by serial number and it wouldn't take it.

Hello guys from across the pond.
I have a collection of 4" (100mm) adjustable wrenches. Or spanners as they are sometimes called. I am searching for a 4 inch Gedore adjustable. I was wondering if any of you guys would help me out in my search.
Thanks, John

It doesn't appear they make one.

Best people to speak to: http://gedoreuk.com/default/

I've called them and ordered before, they're very helpful.
