1/2" Dowidat 1993 (NOS), 3/4" Gedore 3293 (used)

I like the sturdiness of these ratchets.

1/2" Hazet 916Lg (used), 1/2" SAM Outillage S-158P (new)

I bought the SAM because I saw it on an older post.
Love the 120 teeth (!) but switching from left to right (on/off) or vice versa is not satisfying because you have to push hard against the teeth to engage the switching mechanism.
Maybe it has to break in.

Trusco Y350B tool box (new). More are on the way. Premium quality and finish.

Thanks for the info Monte,

This one looks like the Metabo quick, is it?

Cheers
similar but not identical :)
Does it mean that Fein makes their own cordless product?
The "ASCM" drivers as well as the cordless multi tools, drills, drywall screwdriver, shears, nibbler and tapper are made by Fein in Germany (shears feature swiss made heads).

That pipe wrench looks almost identicle to the ones msde in Spain by SuperEgo. Super Ego is owned by Rothenberger, and Rothenberger has a number of their tools made in Spain, including wrenches, pipe vises, and pipe cutters, I presume at thr same facilities. The design on the handle under the stationary jaw shows up on pipe wrenches from ither manufacturers including some from the USA, so the same wrench is probably sold to a number if different companies.

You guys here have any thoughts on doing a Fein Turbo I (the new one) with a HEPA filter vs a Festool CT Midi vs a Bosch VAC090A (or VAC090S)?

My electrician had a fein turbo (Old model) with him when we redid all the downstairs electrics. Great machine... but not as good as my FIL festool.

The festool simply seems to have more suction when it comes to very fine dust. Plaster dust in our case.

I have no experience with the Bosch.

My own shop vac is a Makita (made by Nifilsk). At a fifth of the price it's probably only 10% less that the festool. Yes it's a lesser machine but not much.

A thing to keep in mind is that the electricians fein vac was beat to death, my FIL festool is well used with him being a master cabinet maker and carpenter, whereas my Makita was a month old at the time and used around the house and shop.

So in all honesty I reckon the fein vs festool is a preference over quality thing.

I have no experience with the Bosch.

My dad has a starmix shop vac and that's at least as good as a festool or fein. So deserves an honorable mention.

Whoa, what? Here in the US Festool, Makita, Bosch all cost basically the same. The Metabo costs significantly more than everybody else, but it also has the most advanced self-clean. The Fein is the only one that is significantly cheaper.

Not quite here

Old model fein close to 400

Festool at 350

Starmix at 450

Makita at 160

https://www.toolmax.nl/makita-vc251...4vIMO3r0I8_FgZ_Z0Dg3s-xpPMBxAZgiSOxoClMrw_wcB

Granted these are not like for like model comparisons and if you are lucky you can get a deal which knocks a bit off.

That is the Makita I have and I paid about 110 iirc.

The if I remember correctly the fein festool and starmix all have a vibrating self clean as opposed to the Makitas reverse blow.

Vibrate is nice!

If budget wasn't an issue I would personally buy the bigger brother of the starmix I linked above. Killer machines with a both a vibrating + blowback self clean. At almost 700 euros well out of my league. That said I don't think the festool or fein are any less of a machine.

I have the starmix accessories for dril, angles grinder, and sds drill. They fit fine on any shop vac and really reduce dust and **** to nothing. Not having grinder swarf everywhere is great.

The accessories are all made in [emoji629] Germany. I'd have to check on the vacs.

Do you want to use the vac with or without bags ? The Bosch has a filter clean feature...The Bosch is more comparable to the larger Fein (similar power + features) and the Festool Cleantec vacs.

Hi Monte,
Did you know that the original manufacturer Athlet swivel ratchet?
Sorry I don´t know. Someone in Taiwan i guess.

I ended up ordering the Fein. The Festool costs more, can only handle 12 amps total, AND is prone to breakage of the top. I could live with the first two if it didn't have the last one. I crossed Bosch off when I found out it didn't come with the HEPA filters and would cost as much as the Metabo to make it HEPA. That left Metabo and Fein, and the price difference was just too big.

some pics when it arrives...please :)

Actually, right after I ordered the Fein a Festool CT Midi went on Craigslist in very good condition (just stayed in his woodshop) for $250, with a new AS hose and what appears to be an only lightly used HEPA filter in it, so I got that instead.

I actually think I would like the Fein more, except 1) no possibility for AS hose and 2) a LOT of reviews on Amazon complaining of the electric port failing. I could live with 1, and I could maybe live with 2 since the warranty center is so close to me, but when you add that it also doesn't have an adjustable motor power, I went with the Festool.

Can't beat Unior price/performance ratio, at least for homeowner use, this 3 items were under 5€ together(sockets COO probably Taiwan, center punch Slovenia). [emoji14]
07965352345b66255863eef279762543.jpg

Still I would like to complete a better set with Hazet, Stahlwille, Gedore parts or something like that... Currently I'm looking for 1/4" extension 100-200 mm long with knurling, are there any, preferably european made? And with least possible wobble [emoji1] Thank you!

If there isn't any, I think I will go for Hazet [emoji5]
