My first very own VBW pliers. I'm in love with it. Not only are they chrome plated as opposed to pretty much everything else but the texture on the handles is something entirely different. They are meant for those snap ring like things but will be used for general prying and separation. I could have used these when I was switching key fobs and the immobilizer part was glued shut.

The only thing I don't like about VBW is that they are hard to come by. Shipping was indicated as 5-8 work days and shipped directly from the factory. Took 11 work days and the stripping pliers still haven't arrived. I can tell this isn't even a fresh batch. The spring didn't close the jaws completely on its own so I used Ballistol on the joint, squeezed like 30 times, wiped the rusty oil off and repeated another 2 times. This was def. sitting on some shelf for a while.

Just short of a torpedo level, how common are die cast levels in longer lengths out East....
I just ordered a few 40-100CM....have considered it many times, but looks like it may be one of those things phased out ...so I bit the bullet and ordered the full suite of sizes

I have quite a bit of VBW tools from the 60s ,I d think........the army here must have had a contract with their local agents ........a lot of german products came here as WW2 reparations credit..............I remember as a kid the Deutz Jupiter trucks crawling up the steep hill outside our house..........very distinctive sound .....and appearance .

Interesting, did not know that Bessey sells tools like that.
Erdi (which is owned by Bessey) makes this kind of stuff. There were only 4 options to choose from: Freund, Bessey, Kiesel, and Stubai. Both Bessey and Freund were excellent choices but Bessey was cheaper. I didn't like the looks of the Kiesel and it's also much harder to come by. The Stubai were not only expensive but looked worse than China made. So I ended up with Bessey.

Omma Tools from Italy have only had a very few mentions on this Forum. I only see them very rarely here in the UK and picked up these two spanners a few years ago. They are nicely made and slim and therefore quite light for their size.

DSCF9962R.jpg

Omma make a wide range of hand tools. What sets them apart from most other makers are the sizing options. For example, DOE spanners with 13mm at one end are available with 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 or 17mm at the other end. I like that because I am a believer in putting together tailored carry kits for vehicles and boats. I hate the idea of carrying a lot of heavy tools some of which don't fit any fastener on the vehicle or boat.

These four short DBEs were all made in Germany and are very similar in style but have different names on them.

From the top:
9x8mm Heyco (marked W.Germany, all the others are just marked Germany).
11x10 Elora.
19x17 Matador.
3/8x5/16W Skilfo.

Heyco, Elora and Matador are brands that I am very familiar with, but I don't remember ever seeing a Skilfo branded too before.

Last time I managed to post the wire strippers and the extension in the wrong thread. Since then the T-handle and clamping pliers also arrived.

I couldn't get my hands on the VBW wire strippers so I got the Gedore instead. The 1/4 T-handle and 40 cm extension are Hazet. And last but not least Bessey clamping pliers. The Bessey pliers aren't what I would consider excellent craftsmanship, but for half the price of the Hazet equivalent it's alright.

Speed E Pocket Drive
Is this really a new version? There’s like zero info about this anywhere. I know the speed e 2 but I don’t like the vde bits.
I bought one of these, what I can say is that it is big, for a small hand it may seem big. Even if it is Made in PRC it has the quality of Wiha. I haven't put it to work yet as I have many other models of electric screwdrivers, I think I have over 20 models and types of cordless electric screwdrivers. For high screw tightening power I would recommend BOSCH Go 2 or 3, the rest are fairy tales.

^ who? ISI?

and yeah, that "Pressol" can is fabulous!
ISI was a german tool manufacturer who mainly made torque wrenches (afaik). They went out of business in 2016.
The company belong to the WGB/Carl Walter/Wiesemann family of tool companies. German made former ISI torque wrenches might be still produced in the Walter factory.

Same ISI that makes the whipped cream makers? :)
maybe ;-)

something more modern from Pressol:

We have lots of those at work (but mainly the grey variant, not sure if they're different). Really nice quality, and if I remember right they spray on both the aqueeze and the release stroke.

A bit funny they say it is made in EU but the manufacturer is German - so it's probably something eastern like poland...

I'm in Brussels on a business trip. Does anyone have suggestions for tool stores to visit in this area (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France)?

Hornbach has probably the most German stuff. Most tool stores have little to nothing of the good stuff and stock mostly imported tools. You could also try Obi, a lot of their in-house brand (Lux) tools come from some of the better German manufacturers like Felo for example. The smaller specialty shops usually have close to nothing on stock. That's all I can think of but I'd still suggest just ordering online unless you're the kind of guy who likes to shop aimlessly.

Thank you. I suspected that would be the case. I'll check out those two places just to see what they have.

Czech Republic :)
The black/grey version seems to be the upgraded version with stainless steel nozzle, better plastic and double action head.

I once considered bying it but based on reviews decided not to. Apparently it's really small and better suited for children.

Here is a how to video:

Strange! Made in Germany and below in the Cyrillic alphabet: Made in Poland
really ?? Maybe the handle is made here and the file there or vice versa :) Or sometimes they buy the file in Germany and sometimes in Poland...? :) Or it´s NOS and made around 1940 or so... 😁🤪:censored:
