Ok COO question time. I seen some Bahco saws that I think I want one is a full size and says Bahco "Sweden design and Quaily" or similar on it is it Made in Sweden? Also theres a smaller saw like this.

BAH268.jpg

Package says made in Germany but the tool doesn't. Is it and is there a saw like this from another company that says made in Germany on it?

The hazet 10 X 12 was a whopping $1.00:bounce: The guy asked if it was Craftsman? I guess that's the good stuff:headscrat very good score this weekend, the hazet 10 X 12 will buy more new Stahlwille wrenches. i ordered a set of stahlwille combination short patterns today and a couple Hazet 450's

Unless Monte becomes an exclusive exporter/supplier to the N.A. market...

oh no :)
The euro Stanley tools could be ordered from online shops from the UK or germany, for example: www.stanley-deutschland.de

@american lockpicker:
Bahco offers a "endless" amount of saws, so without a part numer or pic of the saw you want to buy it is impossible to say where it is from. Most Bahco tools now have their slogan on the package: "Design and Quality Bahco - Sweden" But that doesn´t mean that the tool is made there.
In this picture you can see saws made in Sweden, China, Portugal and Japan.
(and pliers + adj. wrenches + screwdrivers from Spain, rat. wrenches from Taiwan and files from Portugal)

The saw from your pic most likely will be made by www.haunstetter-saegenfabrik.de , usually there is a stamp ("PUK") in the metal part of the frame, the saw blades are also stamped "PUK" and a "D" in a oval. "PUK" is a registered trade mark of Haunstetter.

available also from Hazet, Stahlwille, Gedore, and even Stanley (and others like "Sturem" in the pic above with the black handle)

Ahh! That's the mystery behind those saws. Always wondered why they all look the same, are from germany and aren't that expensive. Got one from Merox, same design.

btw. a wonder has happened.
Yesterday, i went through the hardware division of Metro and saw brand new Felo Ergonomic Screwdrivers. They used to have only Meister and Proxxon stuff, but now they got Felo. The sound of a dropping teardrop appeared.
:shocking:

Any ideas on where to find them here?

A couple more pics of the new Knipex 8721 Cobra with the quick-adjust feature, similar to the NWS Quattro-Grip pliers. I should note that the Knipex 8721 is only similar in the quick-adjusting function; the NWS Quattro-Grip has a very different and superior, 4-point locking mechanism (hence the name, "Quattro-Grip"):

Well aware, just pointing that out if anybody is intested in the FatMax, they can have NOS SK's that are still available.

IIRC, Epstein's carried quite a few of them, including a store display unit. Incredible prices too.

[edit] Found it:

Got the Facom screwdrivers from the FedEx man a few minutes ago. The handles look like they were put together by monkeys and were covered in a white powder(drywall or cocaine or  ) they are made in France and work(tryed them in a pair of Fiskars scissors and a English mortice lock see pics below.)

i thought you prefer swiss made ? I wondered why you didn´t buy PB Swiss Tools ???
I still like the Facom drivers though. I don´t think that monkeys could add the rubber ring to the screwdriver handle :D or what do you mean with that ?

I do prefer Swiss made but recently I've wanted some COO variety in my tool collection so I've been buying French, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, etc. I've tried them out and the handles work great very nice to turn compared to my SK hard handle.

Also I meant its so badly put together I don't think a human did as surely they would seen it wasn't done right and wasn't up to QC standards...

They look to me as though the red portion of the handle has shrunk, allowing the ring to come loose. I've never seen Facom screwdrivers in that state, the fit and finish should be excellent. My guess would be that they've suffered long term UV exposure, perhaps in a display cabinet.

were covered in a white powder(drywall or cocaine or  )

That's called bloom, it's caused by the migration of plasticisers out of the plastic. It's the same reason Snap-on soft handles sometimes go 'gooey'.

IMHO you should request a refund.

I picked up a lot of OLFA knives and blades last year when Lowe's cleared them out. Good stuff.

Where the tall corn grows!
Hazet went from a small a to a capital A in 1965.
the underline went from L shaped to straight even earlier than that.
These are *old* old-world tools, yet in good working condition.

I also find it interesting that the font's "e" is a reverse flipped "a"... just interesting, I have nothing more to add... carry on.

edit: oh, and the color "Hazet", is that a sticker or a printing/stamp?

Nice to know the bits are from Germany. I had a look at the selection at Woodcraft and they didn't have a COO.

Today (and starting '65 ) it is HAZET.
Before '65 it was Hazet, with a straight underline under the "azet"
Before that even, it was Hazet, with an L-shaped underline. Don't know when that stopped.

Edit:
http://www.356.ca/tools/wrenches/Hazet comparison.htm

Some good info.

Thanks, that`s a good link, I think I have one or two of their wrenches,
going to check what time period they belong to.

Some of the Proxxon stuff is now made in China, mcfeely`s used to state the COO but not anymore.

What you really want is the L-2000RP Heavy-Duty Cutter. The NT cutters sorta all look the same in the pics, but the L-2000RP is FULL ON, and 3x more expensive at $23. Mostly metal (even the knife pusher button), with a very strong lock knob that you can't see in the photos (it's on the other side).

ntcl2000rp.jpg

I bought mine here (main nt page).

Although the RES-1200GP rescue tool looks pretty beefy.
