Maybe a bit of oil in the mechanism?
I will try this ! I think the spring is a bit stiffer than in the competitors wrenches ?!?
How is Gedore pronounced? Gee-door, Geh-door, Geh-door-ay
In this Gedore Video you can hear a englishman say "Gedore"

in this video you can hear someone from austria say "Gedore" (@ 0:21)
Quite surprisingly, the prices are not inflated like I would've expected. Even cheaper than the KS-Tools sold there?!

Never would've expected that.
ok i now found cheaper KS prices at ebay, my dealer´s prices are higher than that, a KS flat 13mm ratcheting wrench is sold at ebay for 8,45 reversible for 10,45€ - Gedore flat for 8,95 reversible for 11,95 - Carolus 8,47€ for the flat model and 11,04€ for the reversible model. Proxxon 12,50€ for the reversible model.
This "Genius" set (11 pc. 8-19mm in a pouch) cost 99,90 and
this Gedore set (12 pc. 8-19mm, metal case/plastic insert) cost 129,90 and
this 10 pc set in plastic tray from 8-19mm cost 99,95€
So i think the prices are ok. But i also think that they´re special introductory prices.

So, 60-tooth for a 13mm; I wonder if it goes up to 90-tooth for the larger sizes?
i wonder too, but i guess 60 tooth or maybe 72 tooth maximum ? 7 degree working angle from 8-15mm, 6 degreee from 16-27mm and 5 degree from 30 to 36mm the PDF says. Usually this would equal in 51.43 teeth, 60 teeth and 72 teeth. But the 13mm has 60 teeth so i have the feeling that all come with 60 teeth, maybe they use larger teeth in the bigger sizes ? or maybe 72 teeth for the biggest sizes ??? But maybe 60 teeth for all maybe because all patents for 72 teeth are gone.... i dunno....
How does the backlash on the ratcheting mechanism compare it with the Taiwanese reversible/non-reversible ones that you have? Do the teeth engage with the least amount of play, like the Gedore's advertisement claims?
i made 2 pics to better show this:
starting position
position after the next tooth is engaged:
I can´t feel any difference between the new and old Gedore reversible wrench regarding the "play". If you turn the wrench clockwise and then counter clockwise there is a small amount of play until the wrench engages and can turn the fastener. The play seems to be equal. The non-reversible wrench however seems to have a larger amount of play, but it is used, both other wrench unused. But maybe it is because of a different pawl design or because the pawl is not fixed with the reverse lever so it "swings" more freely which causes a higher amount of play ? I don´t have the non-reversible new Gedore wrench yet so i can´t compare them.
You mention that the movement is "rougher"--you mean the backstroke right? ...like there's a lot of drag?
yes, (i think

) the "force" you need to turn the "ratcheting ring". It is slightly more force needed to turn the new Gedore wrench, the old one is easier to turn and the non-reversible model even easier. Maybe because it is used or again because of the different pawl design or softer spring.
I´ll make a small comparison tomorrow.
So far i like the Gedore wrench, nice design (if you like german design

), "hollow beam" design, nice rounded beam (no sharp corners like the old version), lightweight and comfortable to hold, "forged in" angle of the box end and not the "bent" style (don´t like that), serviceable + repairable, the lever is protected too.
The new wrench has a slightly taller box end (0.7mm) and is slightly wider box end (0.5 mm) though. But it somehow looks also beefier because of the pear shaped box end design where the beam "flows" into the box end versus the old more "drop" shaped design and also because of the bolted gear cover.
The "drop"/"cherry" shaped box end with 72 teeth will be more practical though

But I fell in love with the Gedore´s, so this time i will listen to my belly instead of my brain

and buy a Gedore set someday in the future
btw:
old version vs. new version
So, how much do this cost Monte? How about a "review"!
please look above
Also I'm looking to get some French made tools(hand or power) any suggestions. Got $80-110 to spend.
Facom, SAM, MOB, Racodon, Dolex, Edma, Fischer-Darex, Muller, Peugeot, Bost, Gillet etc.....
Some Racodon punches maybe, or a french hose clamp plier ? A nice pair of Dolex/Roux locking pliers ? -->
www.outillage-roux.com
maybe this punch set with exchangeable tips ??? Or a larger set with even more different diameters ??
which tools are missing in your tool box ?
I'm really like the Beta Tools. I managed to score this small bunch for $30 shipped. Proper images to follow after the tools get in my grubby little hands.
nice bunch !! For these Amazon prices i also would really like Beta Tools
Thank you all for the warm welcome!
Forum is truly unique, and the pictures in the themes are great! I'll post something from time to time.
yes please do that !! With or without pics
What Beta tools are made in Italy? I have a sneaking suspicion some might be made in Taiwan.
The scriber pictured above for example. There is a Beta thread with more details about the "Beta Koken" ratchets + impact sockets, screwdrivers with striking cap most likely from Taiwan, "Beta Easy" tools etc.
