Hello folks, I have been buying a few things to keep a good pace,
Since holiday season is coming soon I have to keep an eye on pawn shops because many people will sell their family tools to buy some stupid wii games they can't live without.

Photo 1 and 2; I bought them since my fingers do not fit very well in injection pumps.
Photo 3 and 4 I had to repair my watch
Photo 5 and 6 ogv vs standard
Photo 7 an excellent old peugeot drill, that model is very good for drilling a hole close to a wall, and I also love how they whistle like an air tool.

A couple of recent Mitutoyo micrometer purchases. I am still looking for the 75-100mm digital.

Good choice, good quality metrology tools are already nice tools to play with but Mitutoyo have something more

Anyway, it's just that while I was browsing ebay.de for a 50-75 I found this auction:

Hi guys!

I'd like to buy a good jack (I don't have one), something normal:

-2 tons
-Minimum height around 80 mm
-Maximum around 500mm,
-Weight doesn't really matter, nor space
-Price around 250-300€, might be a bit more for something of really good quality.

The only "fancy" thing I'd like is a quick lift pedal and something made in Europe.

I don't know a lot about jacks, nor which are good brands so if you have any ideas, I would appreciate, thanks!

I've selected:
-Compac 2T-C, Made in Danemark, nice price, quality?
-Hazet 214-2 , I don't think it has a quick lift, made in Germany?
-Facom??? they look "pretty", a bit pricey and well made but I've never seen one in real, it 's always better on the pictures...
And I sweared I wouldn't buy their tools anymore unless it's made in France, at least in europe... As their new range of jacks is just a few years old I wonder what kind of mess Stanley did again

You've seen the Compac in real at a fair right? Do they seem robust? From the picture I've seen (again it's just pics) the finish looks a bit coarse compared to Hazet and Facom, or at least more "industrial".
I'm sure that your sharp eyes weren't blinded by a lack of cosmetic appeal How do the mechanic parts look and feel ?

I searched for pricing on the web but couldn't find anything else than prices in the US, which can be very different from european prices, even if it's produced here...
You get them quite cheap in the US!

I'll contact them and see where I can find a reseller here in Belgium or Germany...

There are several jacks in Facom's catalogue. The cheapest are AFAIK imported from Taiwan or China. Other, i mean the expensive ones, are made by the Spanish "MEGA", they look extremly strong and durable. I also recommand you to buy the original Spanish than the rebadged Facom's, you'll save some money...
"AC Hydrauliq" jacks are also top notch, you can't go wrong with them.

They look good (imho) and robust, the 2nd pic i took is a bit blurry, the coarse finish is only on the housing where the handle is attached because it´s cast and where the swivel wheels are attached because its cast or forged so the finish is a bit rougher. The simple reason i have a AC jack is because i got it cheaper at a auction than a Compac or Mega product. But i would not hesitate to buy a jack from them. Not from Hazet though because it´s imported
Maxipouce provided some good videos, the functionality of the AC + Mega jacks is the same. Quality probably too.

AC Hydraulic and Mega (www.mega.es) as well as Nike (www.nikehydraulics.com) already were mentioned, here is a shop for Compac (click), AC Hydraulic shop (click) (look for the AC DK20Q)
, there is OMCN from Italy www.omcn.it (jack catalog click), "Rodac" offers several rebadged (?) Mega jacks (click), "Rodcraft" too (click), "Weber" looks like they offer rebadged Mega jacks too. OTC + Griots also offer Mega jacks. AC jacks are also available as "PV Monochrom" at www.pvautomotive.de - here´s a dealer search where you can insert a german zip code, maybe they have a dealer close to you click and also available as "WM-Tec" at www.wm-fahrzeugteile.de

My advise: send a email to Mega, AC + Compac etc. and ask for local dealers. Not always is the internet price the best, my dealer wants 239.-€ + tax for the AC DK20Q and the Compac 2T-C is available "offline" for 219.- + tax.

I've also contacted the different brands to know for some local distributors, I prefer to buy in a "real" shop than on the internet (when it's not twice the price), it's the same principle than buying european tools.

Thanks for the info, I didn't plan to buy one of the small ones, I'd like a real "big" worshop jack, I considered the "expensive" Facom's but it was a bit pricey (for something I wasn't sure where it came from).
Now that you gave me the manufacturer's name, I reconsidered the option, even found an online store in the UK selling the Mega jacks, usually half the price of facom's, sometimes less

I asked Mega for a belgian dealer, it's the same than the link you gave me, they're rebadged Rodcraft.
I've also asked about ABCO hydraulic in the UK, they're one of their english importer and Sipuk who sell "Mega type in Spain" floor jacks , I was doubtful, they told they've never heard of SIP and would check the origin of these jacks.

Abco has the T2 for 223€ and the T2X for 274€, I now have a reference to compare with the belgian importer. Rodac's were in sale at my local auto supplies shop last year, T2=362€, T2X=527€ , it's always the same in Belgium

How old is the Saltus kit? It's a bit unusual to associate Made-in-Germany with polished chrome socketry items, a "modern" looking ratchet, and all in a cheapy looking blow-moulded case. Taiwanese origin, perhaps?

I have some news concerning my european made floor jack price researches, I went this afternoon to my local auto supplies shop, I was prepared to the lack of competitive prices in Belgium but not at this point...
Rodac (Mega T2) 414€, Rodac (Mega T2X) 599€, AC hydraulics D20Q "on sale" 725€
And these prices include a 15% discount
As it is a T2X I'd like, I'll probably buy it in the UK (275€), for such a difference it's worth to pay for shipping, or to take the shuttle and buy it there... Would be a good idea, Lista resellers have nice prices there

They´re most known because of the "Saltus wrench" invented by Saltus:

Over here Saltus is not very well known, more a "underground" brand. Never saw them here (ok never asked them if they have a dealer here )

Monte, he doesn't open his things up, ever. However being that wurth only makes nuts, bolts and screws they source the tools from common stock. I have the non-reversible ratchet wrenches and they are a dead ringer for Gearwrench brand tools, just marked differently. The ratchets are clearly Facom, perhaps you know who makes the BP wrenches?

yeah the regular ratcheting ones i think Gearwrench or Hi-Five since they also have other stuff from Hi-Five like the mini bit ratchet + ratcheting screwdrivers. The OEM for the BP wrenches was posted here somewhere once by member "Reversegear"... still searching ...

Yup, Sip are not exactly the same but look very similar, I was a bit confused when they refered to Mega in the description...

Strange, blue makes me think about güde products, so basically cheap imports

I asked Abco for a shipping quotation, I'm waiting for an answer, they also have a very cool spent oil recuperator, I've alreay seen it before on the GJ homepage I think, but under a different brand name, would someone remember? I couldn't find it in the archives, I'd like to know if it's worth the money...

I think we usually have higher prices in Belgium, at least for stuffs with "low volume" sale, we're a small country, there are not many resellers, so less competition...
We also don't have local brands which could be more appreciated by belgian customers, just because it's local, so that foreign competitors would have to lower their prices to give themselve an advantage, I don't know...

Héhé, I like the idea of a tool trip in England, with 300€ difference just for the jack it really worth to be taken into account, if Abco can't deliver at a reasonable price, I'll consider it (I'm not so far of the tunnel, but are they?).
I even thought of a Facom from a UK reseller but it's still expensive, The tool academy sells the T2X for 475€ + 27€ shipping. It's 200€ more than Abco, just the colour change from spanish red to french gray.

It's beautiful isn't it? I love it in grey... but 200€ just for the paint and a different handle? .
If Abco can send it to me for 27€ too I would be very happy with a red one, I'm waiting for their answer...

Btw, nice bottle opener, do they sell the screw system alone? it would be a nice bit for my 10,8v impact screwdriver

The ratchet it's a bit bulky and 6 or more arc degrees compared to my Facom but very strong. The sockets are very nice, they have a bit of low profile compared to other sockets, very good plating and strong. I have used a few of them quite intense on some rusted bolts and there is no mark on them from the bolts. I know the 3/8 set from Ebay, it's nice. But i'm looking in buying a Facom one (fan ). I think in the future i will trade if possible the Saltus set with a Facom one. I try to have all my tools from the same manufacturer.

If you're looking for some Facom socketry, you should have a look at The Tool Academy ebay shop, or on ebay.co.uk. I don't know about Facom's prices in Romania but compared to Belgium there are sometimes big differences. I don't think that everything at the tool academy worth to be bought there, sometimes prices are higher than at my local Facom shop...

I saw those offers from The Tool Academy, the prices are good but including the shipping it gets very close to the prices from here. I have a 15% discount from the romanian Facom dealer and it's possible not to pay the V.A.T. . I'm looking mostly for good second-hand deals on Ebay. I don't mind if it's used because most of the tools are with the life time guarantee . My dealer changes everything it's broken on the spot if it's in stock. It doesn't matter if it's bought or not from him, as long it's written Facom on it . I have sent an e-mail to Facom complaining about the ProTwist screwdrivers series. I don't know if other people like them but i think they are a big step down from the Ergo Twist series. I have tried to use a ProTwist with my hand wet. It's useless . The hand slips and can't hold the handle. There is no soft rubber or something to hold the grip. Nothing to complain about the other tools, yet.

Regards
