I was reading a review on a precision oiler on Amazon when it mentioned the original version was made in England. Did a bit of searching around and found a Draper. I seem to remember Draper being an import company(could be wrong :headscrat ) anyways is this made in England? If not does anyone made a EU made version. I've wanted one for years but not about to buy a Neiko or General Tools one.

ok 8 drawer would be better :) i only need shallow drawers basically. The big drawer might be good for cordless tools etc, or hammers etc. But more shallow drawers would be better so all foam/plastic trays would fit in there :)

Sounds good, just two big drawer for a Facom wireless impact gun, wheel pullers,... :thumbup:
You can put a lot of tools in a JET.XL8, at least all the usual ones, you may need other JET.XL for the speciality tools but remember the good thing, when you buy 6 you can choose the color :)

ah ok !! :) Do you have a motorcycle or Mustang like these ?

Not yet :bounce:

I dunno, some are french made by Racodon (with "air grip" handle) i dunno were the blue ones are from ???? To be safe buy PB Swiss :)

I saw a blue set at my local tool shop, but as they also sell PB Swiss now and that prices are almost similar I'll take PB

btw Facom :)
new Facom "sm.161apb" ratchet now with 72 teeth

Nice, I wonder if they'll follow Snap On and Mac by doing a ratchet with 80+ teeth one day?

Thank you for the informations about the waterloo dealers, I'll look for a shop in Germany, you always have better prices than us :)
Prices on Manutan and Overtoom are far higher than the KTC distributor in the Netherlands.
I have no problem with spending my money but when you see how cheap they are in the US, here it's almost luxury to buy one...
I saw almost identical boxes on ebay.de for a fair price, maybe I'll give them a try.

This oiler looks good!

I can't help you about its origine but Draper does not only sell imports products, they also have tools produced in England so it may be the case with this oiler

For example they sell this tyre inflator which is made by PCL in Sheffield

oh thats getting too expensive :D one mobile box and one stationary drawer cabinet is ok for DIY use i think :) 6 are too much :D
If (in the future...) another box then this one combined with this. I like the idea really much. I also want to get rid of my red tool box, first i thought about painting it blue or so but the pictured box is much cooler :) so if a new one then that one...

Now my christmas presents:

nice tools !!!!!! :drool: (ps: keep the Facom tools and give the Laser tools away :) why do you have to think abou that ?? :D )

I was bored today :D and called Facom to check the "Country of origin" for some tools:

- SM.161APB - 1/2" Ratchet (new) -> Taiwan
- 181.18CPE - Water pump pliers -> France
- S.17H - Socket 17mm 1/2" dr. -> France
- 205C.50 - Hammer 500 gram -> Taiwan
- 897.216 - Measuring Tape -> Taiwan
- 113A.8C - Adjustable wrench -> China

It's like the most boring car in the world!

I disagree! It's fun to drive, handles well, stylish looks, dead reliable, impeccable build quality and solidity and dirt cheap to buy. I've been driving my 82 240D back and forth from ME to DC once or twice per month for several years now. I've never broken down.

You want boring - buy a Camry.

This Hazet box looks good too, is it available in Ducati yellow ? just kidding...

Sounds like my mother... :)
How can I work on a bike if I don't have tools ?

i dunno ....is it necessary ???

Hmmm necessary, it's a matter of point of view...
A lot of unknown tools shown here have become necessary for many of us, this thread is a workshop version of American Idol ;)

I thought a Facom box but now Waterloo , or both ??? What part # do you look for from Waterloo ?? btw: german dealer list: http://www.holtwaterloo.com/?pid=21&land_id=7&plaats=Stresendorf

Both :)

I would like a tool set with what I use most of the time, in a box with drawers that I can put on a workbench, table...
That kind of box would be easier to take with me when I go at a friend's place but bigger and more organized than my Facom toolboxes. I would buy a roller cab when I'll have a real workshop this summer...

I like these Waterloo models (Prices from Nepros's reseller in the Netherlands):
-34ML777: 4 raws of drawers (7 in total), Shop serie, I wonder about quality. 182€+tax
-34ES1000: 6 raws, 10 drawers, Euro serie, 309€+tax. The 34ES600 may be easier to transport, 4 raws, 6 drawers.
-34EST1806CBK: 6 raws, 6 drawers (maybe too big) Euro traxx serie, 499€+tax, looks like the one from the Nrepos's master set, at this price I buy a Facom roller cab or spend a bit and get a Nepros master tool set :)

nice tools !!!!!! :drool: (ps: keep the Facom tools and give the Laser tools away :) why do you have to think abou that ?? :D )

Thanks :thumbup:

The Laser set has 14 sockets, Facom 12, I'll probably never use the 2 extras from Laser but you never know...
The Facom set costs 207€ (list price), it's crazy just for oil changes, I got mine for 52€ that's why I bought it.
Drain plug are not difficult jobs usually so I guess the 20€ Laser set will always do the job, I could sell Facom's and buy another tool instead...

I was bored today :D and called Facom to check the "Country of origin" for some tools:
- S.17H - Socket 17mm 1/2" dr. -> France

Well, it's a bit different than watching TV or play cards :)
Interesting to see that some sockets are still made in France, I'll call them to have informations about hex and torx bit sockets!

@ Sharkin:
Mmmm, that look good!

Where can a person get their hands on that drain plug socket set in the US?

Ultimate garage sells the oil change module with 14 sockets and the oil filter wrench for 299$
The tool academy in the UK sells the 12 sockets set for 140$ delivered in the US Here, probably the best deal online...
They sent me tools twice to Belgium, everything was great :thumbup:

The prices ain´t bad it seems. Google didn´t show many results but the others were higher like 271.- for the 34ML777 here or 289.- here (incl. tax ?) But not made in USA ??or ? But i also wouldn´t spend too much, since tool boxes don´t repair things and don´t earn money.

If you really want to touch one it will probably be difficult, even here I've never seen one in a Facom shop...

I thought that the place where I bought mine didn't have any left anymore but they do! here for 77$+ shipping, and they accept offers, I got my set for 70$+shipping (but I bought other things too).
The shipping policy says they ship to Germany but if you ask them (they speak english) they will probably send you a quote, they did for me...
It shouldn't cost you too much in shipping, it weights about 500g...

If you want to see how they look like, I have one socket I bought for an oil change before to buy the Laser set, I tok a picture with a Laser socket beside, finish is really not the same :) :

I have that one, with no name on it. I purchased mine from Lee Valley. It's made in Taiwan, IIRC.

Now my christmas presents:

Ratcheting screwdriver (bought for someone else so I can't open the packaging), very smooth, control ring looks a little bit like a Wera no?

<a href="http://s739.photobucket.com/albums/xx39/cantause/?action=view&current=IMG_1270.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx39/cantause/IMG_1270.jpg"

Does the packaging have a COO? It should be from Taiwan, and designed by Hi-Five. A similar version is sold under the brands like Britool, Bost, SK, KTC, SEK, etc., but they all have "Reverse Gear" cast into the control ring, but the Facom one doesn't. That's because Facom is the one who approached Hi-Five to manufacture the ratcheting screwdriver. So, the Facom version is the 'original' one. :D

When the new Wera one came out, I suspected that it was also from Taiwan because of the similarity in the control ring, but I could be entirely wrong in that assumption though.

if you order 6 :D ....
Lol, looks like a conspiracy...

Buy a bike which is new and don´t need to be repaired :D :D
It's a desease I have since I'm a child, I need to disassemble and reassemble things, even if I got a brand new Ferrari I would do this after a few months, Lego generation I guess...

But not made in USA ??or ? But i also wouldn´t spend too much, since tool boxes don´t repair things and don´t earn money..

Thanks for looking, the price for the cheapest one is not that bad yes, I'll ask them if they accept to send to Belgium. I don't want to spend too much but I've not enough space in my toolboxes anymore, I don't want to buy another Facom box and have no money for a roll cab :sad:

What about Nepros bit sockets ? :) (or MOB or SAM outillage ? )

I've already 1 set of hex key socket and 1 of torx key sockets from Facom, I would just like to know where they're produced...
I bought 6 other sets for a good price to resell them and make some pocket money for Nepros tools !
I'm not really a fan of SAM, they're probably good tools but I don't like the finish, Nepros is much more what I "need" :)

I use the tool academy quite often, they're very good to deal with.
The first time I ordered there were two 18 sockets instead of one 17 and one 18 in the Facom set I bought, I told them and the next day I received a 17 socket, they told me they were sorry and to keep the second 18 socket, no question asked, it's a good cutomer service!

That's good.

I use them quite often and have probably bought from them 10-15 times in the past. (And again last week.) They're always reliable, helpful and ship quickly. Nothing but good service from them. They're usually the cheapest on eBay from what i buy from them.

Hey Guys, I want to buy myself a brand new ratchet but, can not decide on the Hazet or Facom short handle. I am leaning toward the palm style. I use a Snap On F723A push button release daily.
If I was picking based on color scheme it would be hazet. I need some imput on this before I go buying a dozen ratchets

What about a different brand or used ?

It's difficult to buy a used one here, it's very hard to find quality on the second hand market, or people ask crazy amounts for it. Most of the time I see JET.XL roll cab for sale (empty) people ask more than the price of a new one... I see 2 reasons:

-Most of people buy **** tools so good quality is considered as a luxury, when they need money they think it's worth a fortune.
-Professionals users buy for good (new) prices and keep it until destroyed, particular buy at very high prices (from same pro reseller but without discounts) and sell them little used for 10% less of what they paid, so 25% higher of a (good) new price :bounce:

I've seen this Stack-On :))) boxes (18kg) on ebay.de, I'm waiting for an answer from the seller to see if he accepts to send to Belgium. It's probably of lower quality but it's less than 100€, maybe with shipping if won in auctions. There is also this no-name, 26,5kg, I guess it's good for quality but I'd like to keep it around 40-45 kg loaded...

What do you charge for a Facom set ?? :D

I'm not sure yet ;)
I was thinking around 100 € (already sold one :)), good for me and for the buyer, it's around 180 list price, can be found cheaper in a good shop or online of course...

what :D

it´s quite common over here... it seems it works :) ;)

I was just kidding, the ratio service/price is probably 10 times better than my socket set!
Btw, what does it cost? Do they make them with hex, triangular, star shape?

I don´t know :D

for germans yes :D For others: Facom makes a nice set of oil drain sockets :D

(If your cars oil plug has a matching square...)

But Germans have strong arms and cars with well machined plug/oil sump so you don't need more than one finger to do an oil change ;)
They're even so bored of cordless tools that they disassemble them for fun because they prefer to use screwdrivers :lol_hitti

@Sharkin:
Nice pen, does it come with its certificate of accuracy? :)

@Cantause: the Tool Academy has old stock Facom? The stuff being made in France? Or some of the newer stuff? Those seem to be some good prices for some of the Facom socket sets.

@ Vinko:

I can't speak concerning all of their tools of course but the 1/4" and 1/2" sets I bought from them didn't have any France on them nor on the tools. The most interesting thing is that from the informations that Monte grabbed from Facom customer service, the 1/2" sockets are made in France (or maybe just the 17 :D), so it's really difficult to tell what comes from where when it's not stamped on it...

Yes, 150$ delivered for a 1/2" set with 2 extensions, a joint and sockets from 10 to 32, it's a good deal, mine was 15$ cheaper last year, I really don't know how they do...

I'm not a pro mechanic but I switched the drain plugs on all my vehicles with Fumoco drain valves. No oil mess, plus I can do a hot oil change with getting burnt.

The valves might make a good upsell to your regular customers.

These valves are the way to go... I first bought mine 5 years ago and it's holding up great. No leaks what so ever. Since then I installed them on 6 of the family's cars. It's a time saver. No mess either... $30 well spent.

I purchased 50 of each size years ago and gave away most of them as gifts to good customers. Unfortunately, many people had no idea what these were and simply discarded them as cheap wrenches as they felt so light. These were part of the original McLaren F1 tool set.

40TI.jpg

The last ones I sold were over $350ea....I am keep these last few for myself.

:Twitch: :sad: I really want to cry right now....

I would have no use of these as I don't plan to work on satellite's fasteners or MRI scanners but as a lover of the Facom 40 series I hope that one day I'll find one for my collection!

@superautobacs

Nice Beta chisels, it reminds me one of my father's that I used a lot in his workshop, now I know where I can find some for me!
Have you already tried them? are they good?

@ultgar : Are those titane wrenches made in France ?

@Superautobacs : Is there a COO on your Beta chisels ? I've got the same one as yours but branded Stahlwille.
