You might try some of the new Xenon bulbs in that maglite. They last a lot longer than Argon or Krypton and the bulbs don't blacken.

Epstein's has lots of Mora knives. I just bought that exact chisel knife a few days ago. FYI it fits in the same sheath as the OD green 'carbon steel' knife. I like how the knives sort of click into place. I have no idea what I'll use the chisel knife for...but $12...I couldn't NOT buy it. I thought about buying one of each, but I settled on just two.

Now I'm looking for something to chisel.

P.S. Thanks for the link to LevelChrome. They shipped FAAAAST. Now I have the Vessel impact screwdriver I've always wanted.

Now I'm looking for something to unscrew.

I may be in the market for a good hammer. :D

1/2" ?? I would start with 1/4" then move to 3/8" .... :D ;)

ok finally i managed to get the wrench test scanned. Test object: 13mm combination wrenches.

page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4, page 5, page 6, page 7

participants: Snap-On (2x), Stanley, Bahco, Facom, Stahlwille, Walter, Wiesemann, Hazet, HR, Matador, Metrinch, Müllner, Proxxon, Gedore, Force, Circum, Ajay.

Seite208-1.jpg

legend:

Maulbreite = thickness/height open end
Ringbreite = thickness/height box end

Nm max. Ring = maximum torque box end in Newtonmeter

Open end minimum torque is 51 NM , Box end 107 NM. Dimensional accuracy between 13,04 and 13,24mm.

few questions for you

is 240Nm the maximum force the testing machine could apply?

The knives are very comfortable to hold and very sharp. The price is very good too for these neat knives made of ye good olde Sandvik Schwedenstahl from the old world :)

The hex of the test machine where the wrenches were attached is only good for 250 NM so they tested only up to 240 NM to not destroy the hex because it cost several hundred bucks. But 240 NM is enough i think, because every screw or nut will break before the wrench.

few more questions (can't speak german, you don't have an english version you can post I suppose save you answering my questions)

did the test consist of just 1 sample from each brand or more, and wrenches were tested until they slipped or until they broke i.e. the open end tests which have slipping results were wrenches tested until they began to yield, broke or slipped.

how were the samples classified after testing, if the wrench slipped at 120NM and was undeformed or the wrench slipped at 120NM and was bent 25degrees

did anyone analyse the effect of size on the results i.e. did anyone plot a graph of force against actual spanner size

i'm a biomed Eng by profession, hence all the questions.......

is there another study floating about somewhere that claims gearwrench thrashed snap on in a show of strength test as this isn't the one?

Good but watch out for the LED bulbs , i tried putting my 2D LED into my 4D flashlight and i overheated the LED.I was not aware that they were not interchangable between the flashlights.
I might pick up this upgrade for my 4D which is back to using the mediocre filament bulb for now.

TerraLUX is chinese so you might consider Malkoff(handmade in USA.)

http://www.malkoffdevices.com/

Or if you want incan(what I prefer) you can get Mexican Maglite xenon bulbs or German made Halogen(look for NOS unless Monte knows of a maker in Germany.)

Beta torx/hex set

Beta pressure/depressure tester

Do u used it or just a collections?
and what ur opinion between BETA and FACOM socket set?

@Bart1
Got an old Hazet wrench off a member here. Nothing special, but it was cheap and I didn't have one like this.

Give a redneck and old gym mat, some tools, an Assistent and a camera, and look what happens. Not ideal, but will do for now. I'll throw a couple extra pics in there just because.

Nice old HAZET wrench:drool:
ur lucky to have one:bounce:
and i like ur blue toolbox:drool::drool:
btw: very nice HAZET setup bro:drool:

@monte

Hello,
I work for TerraLUX and can tell you it is NOT a Chinese company! We are in Longmont, CO. Some of our products- the ones in clamshell packaging- are made in China, but the TLE-300M-EX is indeed made in the USA, as advertised on Amazon.

Yeah i think the socket set retails for 50€ or so but i only need the ratchet :)
The Wera bit ratchet is still on my wishlist :) it looks so beautiful with the forged "Kraftform" handle. They should make their ratchets and screwdrivers with a drop forged "Kraftform " handle :)
The Bahco ratchet has 48 teeth (click). But that´s basically enough. The Würth ratchet has more, but the head is also much bigger. Here are some nice pics of the Bahco ratchet:
http://cgi.ebay.de/BAHCO-Bit-Stecks...77?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&hash=item2a0e5c88c1

I logged into Würth spanish web and the ratchet alone was almost 30€ and the socket set was about 60€ or 70€ (quite a lot).
The Wera bit ratchet is quite beautiful but not so useable, I much preffer the other one that I own, the Gedore 471.
Thank you for the pics ;)

It resembles to another that Metabo sells.

I just got a price quote for a Beta C39 tool cart here in the States....... $2100 :wtf:

*snip*
Yeah, but it's orange and super cool man. :thumbup:

Anyway, battling with a '98 Passat coil I found that I needed some 5mm hex keyes that were longer than the ones I had so off to Clas Ohlson I went and got me some Cocraft, (Clas Ohlson brand) made in Taiwan and everything.

Cool attachable handle for extra leverage. Hope it can take some force.

10 year guarantee so hopefully not your average ************ wrapped in tin-foil stuff.

It seems they only tested 1 wrench each, at least they wrote that they bought 18 wrenches in total. Ok thats not very scientific to test only one... but.....less expensive :)
The open ends all slipped, none broke. Only one box end broke (from "Force" brand)
I dont know how exactly they tested the box end side, i guess the test machine stopped at lets say 209 NM when the wrench bent and no further torque was transferred only the wrench bent more and more. They dont explain it. No fourther "torque graph" etc. was done. The magazine is only for oldtimer car fans with articles abou cars and how to repair things. Every now and then they have tool "tests".
Here are some "test results" from "Toptul vs."... http://www.thetoolchest.ca/pages/The-Toptul-Story-&-Breaktests.html

btw: the "test hex" of the testing machine cost 700.- € they wrote hence they only tested up to 240 NM

@monte

Exotic knife bro:thumbup::drool:

If you want something rustproof Knipex offers chrome plated pliers, NWS also has chrome plated pliers (the ones with black/yellow handles), the NWS pliers with the grey color are "Teflon" coated so they should be rust proof too. So thats a 1:1. I only do light duty jobs (cut copper cable) for heavy duty i use Knipex mini bolt cutters, cable shears etc. The NWS pliers seem to cut slightly better, i don´t know why, maybe sharper blade or maybe its just the Teflon coating so the blade "glides" better through the cable/wire. So thats 2:1 for NWS. I also like the (old) handles better so thats a 3:1 for NWS :) But the handle shape/feel is subjective. Other consumers prefer dipped handles so its up to you to decide.

@Bhae:
nice Dolmar saw !!!!

yeah Würth is quite expensive but i wanted a ratchet with handle so badly :)And the only professional brand who offers such a ratchet is Würth :)
Gedore is nice, but 20€ is not that cheap too. I bought the Bahco bit set for 19.95€ and sold the bits, sockets + bit holder so the ratchet only cost me 10.-€ :D

Nice bit set, where is it made and how much does it cost Bhae?

Hitachi has a bit set like that too:

NOTHING is as bad as Marmite! I have a jar that a UK buddy brought me - I use it for scaring away undesirables and fueling rockets.

Got in a few more Hazet items today - pliers from my Assistent guy and bits and wrench from eBay. :beer:
