There is a joint venbture between Anesti Iwata and Atlas Copco since 1989
http://www.anest-iwata.co.uk/page.asp?Area=1&cod=3

"Established the joint venture company Atlas Copco Iwata K.K. in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, to manufacture rotary compressors of up to 90 kW"

Atlas Copco air (screw) compressors seem to be mostly made in Belgium:

http://www.atlascopco.com/us/AtlasCopcogroup/organisation/CompressorTechnique/index.asp

"Development, manufacturing, and assembly are concentrated in Belgium, with other units situated in Brazil, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United States"

Awesome stuff. Nothing better than getting new tools in the mail!
Where are the wrenches and screwdrivers made? Mine did not have a country of origin anywhere (I checked the box, tools, and catalog) no signs of where they were made.

Thanks to some patience and ninja-like Amazon searching, I finally got the small torx drivers I needed.

someone stated that he dislikes the barcode on pliers grip because it makes them look 'Bau-markt' (cheap). I noticed that pb also puts barcodes on the swissgrip handles (unfortunately)

Festool C12

I recently picked up a Festool C12 drill kit on clearance.

I've had the opportunity to use it a few times.

Some of the accessories are invaluable for assembling furniture, namely the eccentcic chuck and the 90* adapter.

I have also used it to install cabinets, and those same accessories make it much easier to get into odd places, or put screws into cabinet face frames on narrow cabinets.

This drill has electronic feedback that allows it to maintain driving speed. In other words, it did not slow down while driving a 3" cabinet hanging screw into the wall stud. It will continue to drive that screw until it goes through the backing or the electronic protection circuitry turns it off. Use of the clutch is recommended.

The electronic speed/torque control also allows driving face frame screws at a lower constant RPM, preventing breakage and driver cam-out.

I tried using a 1" 3 cutter self feeding wood bit that is designed for battery drills (sold by Lenox), and the drill could not drive this. I was hoping...

It will be interesting to try this drill on something like deck boards.

I would like to try the T style replacements, but I do not have good experiences with LiIon batteries in real world conditions below 40*F.

If you assemble Ikea type furniture or install cabinetry, you should get this drill.

I'd wage a guess that if it doesn't say Germany, it's probably Austria, like their pliers.

@Humber2,

Welcome to the forum and please do share your old Wille' collection with us.

I don't think so. In the -10 "Magic in motion" catalogue, many things are marked "Made in Germany" or "Made in Austria". The screwdrivers and the socket wrenches though does not have those markings. See: http://www.gedore-magic.de/katalog.html?en

I wonder if they're from South africa or Brazil (where Gedore has production plants) or made by an OEM.

It's not just PB Swiss. Felo, Knipex, Wiha, and Vessel also have UPC codes on the handles.

Re: Gedore: in the Gedore promo flyer they don´t use the "Made by Gedore" badge on the page with the screwdrivers and the bent pipe socket. So i dunno.....

Just called Gedore. The Magic 25 PK-05 bent pipe sockets are from India, screwdrivers Slovenia, clamps France, pipe cutters Japan.

Nah, no pics of the drill.

All kinds of them on the web.

At 25% off retail, it is a pretty good deal- as long as stock lasts.

I actually thought about picking up a second one, but work isn't *that* good right now.

I put together this PB Swiss socket wrench set from Amazon. It took a month but I snagged them for $17.

pbswiss-metric-nut.jpg

I couldn't find a 13mm PB Swiss driver on a deal, so I settled on a 13mm Beta for $2.67
