Went to the flea market to buy an English bicycle today but the seller didn't show up. :( Anyways I found these tools for around $0.50. The wrench is Elora but the screwdriver is a Wera knockoff.

I was going through my box tonight and stumbled across my WISE pistol-grip ratcheting screwdriver and that got me thinking about the post above. I took a couple pictures:

attachment.php

The racheting is light and the ergonomics is right, but the tooth count is so low. Still works, but it's just a collection item.
It sits inside this tin box that came from Bremen, in northern Germany. :D
My mum has (or had) one just like this that she bought in a high street store (Woolworths?) a few decades ago! She loved using it around the house, as she was able to use the pistol grip much easier than normal screwdrivers. Hers was a no name brand, but I saw a Makita one of these on sale on Trademe less than a month ago... it was a good driver, took heaps of abuse, I think the ratchet mechanism even popped out, just put it back in and kept on using...

Thanks for this Monte, I have been wondering about this for a while! Still have yet to hear about the 'Vessel' ratchet driver copy though on the other thread, I must look that one up...

I received this week from Alan of LevelChrome (GJ user "haloghalog") the Engineer PH51 Super High Strength Scissors and the Engineer PZ58 Screw Gripping Pliers.

Engineer PH51 Scissors

The non-serrated section of the PH51 scissors can be used to cut leather, thin sheets of aluminum, nylon, kevlar, copper braided flat wire, and plastic. The serrated section can be used to cut rope, cotton insulated electrical cord, copper wire, and cabtire electrical cord.

Engineer_PH51_Combo_Pics_2.jpg

Engineer PZ58 Screw Gripping Pliers

The teeth of the PZ58 screw gripping pliers are designed to grab damaged and rusted round; low profile and ordinary dome head screws. They are also designed to remove various security (tamper-proof) screws and bolts. The pliers have a built-in wire cutter. They also feature a spring between the handles for repetitive use.

Engineer_PZ58_Combo_Pics_3.jpg

Engineer PZ55 Screw Gripping Pliers

The design of the front gripper teeth differ between the PZ58 (above) and PZ55 (below) screw gripping pliers.

I purchased this plier from Lee Valley a few years ago. They are also available for purchase at LevelChome.

The PZ55 pliers are more of a general type for removing damaged and rusted screws. They are also designed to remove tamper-proof screws and bolts.

Engineer PZ57 Screw Gripping Pliers

I purchased this plier (one of numerous Japanese hand tools) last year from the "GoodLuck Japan" Rakuten Ichiba internet store in Japan.

The PZ57 pliers are designed to remove damaged and rusted mini screws.

Bhae,

Thanks for sharing your pictures from the tool show. I enjoyed viewing them.

How much time (ex: a day or two) did you spend at the show?

Are the invitees allowed to purchase the tools on display at the show?

Would you mind answering my question about your recent posting about Toptul's "blade-thru" screwdrivers with the swirl pattern, acetate handles here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1420462&highlight=toptul#post1420462?

Thanks,

Dave

@dede2897234:

Hi Dave.

Thanks. ;).

The fair lasted 4 days. I was the last day, and just half a day, so I could not see 100% of the fair: (.

It is not fair to the end user to buy, if not for the show professional products. If it is true that the Chinese, before the end of the show and sell their products they sell cheaper than return them to China.

I could not try the screwdrivers Dave, I received very recently and have not had time. Anyway, are pleasant to the touch, but I can not give you a more detailed opinion yet.

Regards!

Made in Japan? Also what Makita tools are Japanese, English, or US made?

iirc yes made in JP

some angle grinders are from England, a orbital sander + cordless drill from the US, some rotary hammer drills are still from japan, cordless impact etc.

too many different tools and COO to remember. Might be NOS too what i see in a store.

Nice Bosch! :) The 2 drills(Swiss?) interest me... Also have you seen the new Festool drill? It has a suspiciously low price.

these ? rotary hammer drills are usually from germany but i guess malaysia. We will know more in mai...

1-PT-17297.jpg

The Festool CXS is very nice ! Best 10,8 Volt drill/driver :)
If the price is low i would buy it :)

Made in Japan? Also what Makita tools are Japanese, English, or US made?

Disclaimer: COO only valid for tools sold in Germany - not necessarily the same COO in the USA and outside of germany. Could be NOS too...
I´m not too familar with Makita so there will be many more "Made in Japan" etc. tools....

the Makita angle grinders who looks like this are from the UK

I meant the other drills(SDS corded and cordless drill/driver.) Also I've seen a grinder and polisher from Makita that was US made. The price on the Festool was $225 so I asked on FOG about it.

The corded SDS drill most likely will be from germany like the other medium and higher priced SDS drills, the cordless drill looks somehow malaysian, the body looks like the malaysian tools. But could be swiss too. Not released yet...

225.- is a very good price if the angle head and 2 batteries are included. Made in Germany too...

btw. Festool: this Festool "Autoloader" screwdriver is made in Canada

Thanks. :thumbup:I'm really digging the wera square drivers at the moment.

I'll take some close ups of the wrench soon and repost.

ps: i like the Picquic screwdriver
