@ aspera

I got it from Automotion.com, but I am not sure who else carries them in the U.S. From their website, I think it is the only model that they have available.

Where did you find that? I'd like to get the version with a bleed valve. From what I've found, older ones were labelled 'Dräger'. I don't know if the brand changed or it is a new company.:dunno:

it seems Flaig took over the production.

www.flaig-praezision.de

I have seen this brand but 'Made in Australia' , adjustable wrench in a pawn shop about a week ago.

:shocking: is (was) there a australian adjustable wrench manufaturer ? Sidchrome ?

@Monte:

What is your opinion about Rhodius(Braintools disc) and Heller..

Heller is the specialist for carbide tipped drill bits (for stone/concrete). There is not much what i can tell you because i don´t have any Heller drill bits - i want to buy some Heller Trijet bits when i have a hammer drill. Heller makes drill bits for other companies like Hitachi.

Re: Rhodius - which disc ? diamond ? cutting ? grinding ?

Confirmed, Acesa and Irazola disappear as a brand, but maintain their production,Acesa incorporates its Bahco, and Irazola incorporates in Palmera.

:(

Guys,

Saw an ad in a local romanian auction site for this 9 piece set of double open end Facom Vanachrome spanners ranging from 13 to 32mm.
Guy says they're in a good condition and demands about 50 Euros for them.
Good catch or not really worth the effort?

they're the nice old model ones, really sturdy and in very good shape.
since the newer, "rounded", ones are available for 3 to 12 euros each(with rebate) i'll too say: get'em! :D

Where the tall corn grows!
The originals were dräger and are not easy to find. Same quality, but different finish. The Drägers are fine crackled black paint. The button is not a bleed valve but a reset valve.
Dräger still exist but they are now specialised in medical gases, mostly for anethesia.

Scroll down this page for more info:
http://vista.pca.org/la/newsletter/0402/index.shtml

dräger also makes the best alcohol % breath testers in the world. They also make outstanding breathing apparatus for fire/mine and gas detection for a bunch of industries... if it doesn't say "dräger", it's ****.:)

As promised, here some recent Hazet acquisitions---thanks, Jens!

My order:

Screwdrivers, Torx Drivers, Tire Levers, Salad Bowl, 8mm Hex Socket, couple of pliers, Hex Key set (with nifty opener) and Jens' special--a Hazet bottle opener!:bounce:

Jens002.jpg

Hex Key Set:

They've solved the problem of trying to dig your fingers or something else down in there beneath the keys to pry them up--that little lever, pushed to the side you desire, raises the keys.

Jens001.jpg

Everything in it's new home. (I'm making some headway but still a lot of room left in this box. I have a few wrenches and sockets on order. Unfortunately, not from Jens)

Jens003.jpg

Guys, Jens is great to order from. Very good communication and very fast shipping. (On his part at least. UPS dropped the ball in Louisville, Ky. It took longer to get from Kentucky to Indiana than it did to get from Germany to the US!)

And finally (not bought from Jens :) ....

My favorite German tool I've ever bought:drool: in front of my newly painted BMW-inspired garage wall. My 190 box is my bike box so it will hold everything I need for this baby!

@Monte:

All Disc, are better than Dronco, or similar quality?

I think they are similar quality, at least i can´t see a difference between Dronco, Rhodius, Tyrolit etc.

I just bought two Bosch measuring lasers... the US market one was a 130' (40m) range model and made in Malaysia but the other one I bought (GLM 250 VF) which is rated to 250m (750') and only sold in Europe (I bought it from Toolstop.com.uk) currently is made in Switzerland and mine had a production date of December 2009.

Ok anyone have any idea where to order this in North America?

Yup, and Kincrome too - both bought out by the Chaiwanese. :( Changed their lifetime warranty to be the anticipated lifetime of the tool, cost them much respect... They are sold at Super Cheap Auto, a shop like Halfords in the UK, Repco here, any retailing place that sells parts, stereos, chrome exhaust tips ande car mats with ******* bunnies on them.

Yay! I've been waiting with bated breath to see your new toys! How do you like the 802 drivers? I am pretty happy with mine, They are a good bit more expensive than the 810s though, which work similarly well.

Agreed on Jens!

Excellent catch, 3-5€ for an average condition 16-17 in France. They have very stiff ends, they don't slip in your hands and altough they look 'square' they are very comfortable.

mrtools,

Have you owned Top circlip pliers in the past?

Do you own circlip pliers from other brands such as Knipex?

If yes to the second question, how durable are Top circlip pliers compared to ones from other manufacturers?

Thanks,

Hi guys,

I've found this topic back in 2010 and I'm regularly reading it for it's highly interesting, but didn't register until now. I thought that I'll share one of my favourite tool kits, a relatively new Wera model (it's the Kraftform Kompakt Zyklop). I use it to remove trim panels and control units in cars, it's brilliant. It has all the important things (philips/hex/torx bits + sockets) in the most common sizes. The hand ratchet also doubles as a ratchet screwdriver. Some pics:

Welcome to the forum byte.size.life. Very nice set. Wouldn't mind one of those.

Edit: The 8mm and 10mm sockets looks different on the bottom?

Another big favourite of mine is the Victorinox Cybertool Lite. What makes this knife so special is a 4-piece double-ended C4 bit set. The LED light in the knife faces in the direction of the screwdriver, very practical when you work in poorly lit areas.

bytesize - I like that little mini Zyklop - good stuff! I still haven't gotten any Wera, but I'd say I'm a fan and they are certainly a good value, if a bit odd.

RM - Beta wrenches look good, you think they are comparable to Facom?

Here's a little something I picked up today thanks to another GJ thread - 10" Knipex Plier Wrench for $38 from Sears. This was the Knipex tool I always most wanted. Haven't used it yet, but it seems great!

BTW, here are some great Knipex reviews:
