I've tested. They are very good is that the screws can not stand sometimes
Since the border is wonderful. I like the FACOM is a supreme quality. But I'm thinking about buying a socket set 1 / 4 HAZET to see the quality.

Thanks, sad to hear about Padre, hope there production will continue...

Few weeks ago I stumbled across this thread and saw someone mention this.. look for "Germany" or "made in Germany" on the tool. Since then I have been checking out old toolboxes with misc. tools that have survived plenty of use and abuse. To me the result is somewhat a surprise. From now on I will look for COO on all tools I buy. Perhaps I will post some pics later to illustrate..

on the other hand in case of Padre i wouldn´t be sure if "Germany" on the tool indicates it is from Germany....
if you look at page 68 for example at the ratchet with the part # 904 H
http://www.ceder.de/cms/projektpadre/media/pdf/WG3.pdf
i claim it´s from Taiwan.

:shocking: You should get a German made camera like Leica or Minox. :)

the higher priced Sony ones are still from Japan iirc
I´m too poor to buy a german made camera :)

@Monte : Padre filed insolvency ??:wtf: By this you mean they'll close the factory ?

i dunno, i only know that they filed insolvency on 3/3/2011 but there is not much more info in the net.

btw: bought this sandblaster
hjh001.jpg

Saw this today at Channel21 homeshopping promotion. Looked like overpriced stuff :D.
They wanted 49€ + 5,95€ shipping and didn't even bother not to mention that there is an need for a compressor to use it. Mauk Germany sounds good until you visit there website.

ps. sad to hear that padre filed insolvency. i did own some stuff from them.

the finish of the sockets differs.

ps2: bought some wrenches from "famex" and got wrenches from "wiesemann" made in germany :eyecrazy:

I agree. I have used this ratchet, it came from no-name socket set branded after local auto-part store. Also found in countless sets under different names like: Jonnesway, Ks-tools, Mannesman, etc.... etc... More polished version found in Toptul brand. Decent ratchet but not made in Germany.

Black impact sockets with golden letters are IMHO also from Taiwan -catalog, page 91. Week ago I picked up two very similar on a sale. One branded Bahco and one Belzer if I remember correctly.

My new 1/2" braker bar (bought in memory of Padre) has however forged into the handle "Made in W.Germany" :)

"Taifrance" (Taiwan promptly shipped to France :eyecrazy:).. for sockets as far as I know. Their pliers are still made in France. I have been eying off the Nano 1/4 but just can't bring myself to purchasing.. something about them no longer being made in Europe :dunno:.

If you like Facom´s finish you probably should stay with Facom. Otherwise you might be disappointed.

Just called them. It seems they found a investor and will continue to operate.

there are some more "import goodies" if you look through the catalog....
So stick with "W.Germany" ...thats the best anyway :D

lol..
i guess they never heard of "Padre".... :)
They already own enough tool brands so i don´t know if it would maker sense for them to buy a small unknown german toolmaker with like 50 employees...

I've seen that before with mech pencils "German Quality" but made in Italy. Anyways back to topic Belzer is part of Bahco IIRC and the labels and packaging don't always match the tools as I showed earlier on here...

my contribution isn't anywhere near as exotic as some on this thread but It's what I have so far. Got the Wera stuff a little while ago (my chiseldrivers were made in Germany) and the wife got me the Hazet stuff this past Father's day. I also have a couple pairs of Knipex but don't have a pic of them at the moment.

Both NWS & Knipex don't have a serrated jaw option for their snipe nose...that's why I wouldn't buy them. Knipex are streets ahead in quality out of the two I've shown here. CK eats them both! The Knipex cutters are nice though, cant fault them.
