Finally decided to repaint one of my vices so i got some stuff last week:
brush from the local big box store
combined bottle/paint can opener from Stiko
Very nice painting project + a good tools too:thumbup:
how old a vise?
can you post a complete painting vise?

My new oldskool tool for 1Eur. Germany or China, I don't mind, simply I like it :)
I found this one in some pawn shop, it's about 40 years old, but still works perfectly  That 5,- means 5kč=20 Cents
Looks very old and tired but it nice :rocker:

Found this tiny knife from "Robi Klaas" in my desk:
It not happen to me:sad: Lucky guy;)

I lurk on this board all the time, but came upon this thread today and just had to sign up!
Does anyone know where these Proxxon offset wrenches are built:
I am in the market for some nice offset wrenches and so far, I've found the Proxxon above, this Wiha set and a Stahlwille set[/URL].
The Proxxon look great and they come with a nice case. It's hard to say no to that price, but something tells me that these probably aren't made in the "old world". Which set would you all buy? Is there another brand I should be looking at?
Go to Stahlwille..the company makes awesome wrenches = forged and finish in Germany:rocker:

After falling that link I noticed the old Pentel mech pencils I used to use in school suddenly are valuable. So I picked this up today for $4.65 with tax.
The black one I've had since around 2000, oddly enough I wasn't allowed to use it in drafting. :headscrat I switched out the internals with a frends pencil and it uses 0.9mm lead. :)
Nice:drool::drool:

Sandvik Saw
Awesome saw, no doubt Sandvik/Bahco made very good cutting tools:thumbup:

Nice! How do you like this?

"Raaco" Storage box :
Nice and very useable box:thumbup:

Hi, I've been seeing this kind of brands almost every hardware in the city. Can you tell me more about Unior.

Maybe our European members can give better feedback and the ranking of Unior among European tool manufacturers.

Those Unior pliers and screwdrivers you quoted are working fine for more than a year and a half now in a commercial auto shop. Beaten but still works great.

Here's the site

I'm impressed. I thought it was made in India under a European company.

How much it cost you for the set of pliers and screwsdrivers, including the shipment?

I paid around 2,500 Philippine Pesos ($58) for the pliers and screwdrivers. Purchased locally here in my location.

I seen to remember wanting that or a similar knife, you have a link for getting one here?

Interesting. :) All I see here is US, UK, and Israeli storage containers. I wonder if I can get them here.

Maybe Monte knows, where they source their pliers and screwdrivers from.

Garant screwdrivers are from PB Swiss Tools, Holex screwdrivers from Wiha.
Don´t know about the pliers, usually the rebadged ones are from Orbis or Will.

Very nice painting project + a good tools too:thumbup:
how old a vise?
can you post a complete painting vise?

when it´s finished i will. Maybe on sunday :rocker:
I don´t know exactly how old it is, it came mounted on a old wooden workbench with a wooden door and drawers, i guess like 30 or 40 years ?

It not happen to me:sad: Lucky guy;)

but you have nice english screwdrivers instead ! ;)

Nice! How do you like this?

I like it very much ! Feels good in my hands, nicely made cast metal housing, good paint job, functional "auto lock" mechanism, simple + efficient "clean" design. My favourite ! (right now :D)

another pic for you :)

ken023.jpg

one question about Bosch 10.8-2-LI, surprisingly a lot of play(when new) in the chuck or shaft bearings, much more than the others 10.8v drills we have.
Have you ever heard of this kind of problem in Germany?

There is a thread about that in the german Bosch forum. Bosch said that there is a revised version of the drill. I´ve not yet checked them if they are better now.

Mine for today, My new (used) Koken 3/4"-drive ratchet:

nice ratchet + torque wrench!

Went down to a friend's new tyre shop, and saw some nice Hazet tyre levers:

a friend with taste ! :)

@americanlockpicker : I've got some Israeli storage boxes too. They're well made but still not better than the Raaco. I know it's just about plastic, but when you handle these Danish boxes, you can feel the difference in term of quality. i recommand you them:thumbup:

@Zorro13, @jensputzier, @y20dth : In France Hoffmann is avaialble for private persons. I order throug them and i'm aware about their Garand connection with Stahlwille-Hazet. What i wanted to know is if there are any differences about the quality between a Garand wrenche and an original Stahlwille, Hazet or else. I mean Hoffmann sell rebranded PBSwiss drivers at an incredible cheaper price than the original one. Do they have a cheaper finish too?

@shermanland : Unior is made in Slovenia, former Yugoslavia. they always had a good reputation and affordable prices. Do a search about a GJ member named "Jure", he's got some interresting Unior stuffs:drool:

@mrtools : What's the blade's lenght of the biggest Stanley driver ? 200 or 250 mm ? Do you use them often ?

@dykmore : Very nice PP, i like this old blue finish:thumbup:

@Moose-LandTran : Very beautifull Koken, definatly a serious brand:thumbup:

@Monte : Do you use this nice electronic plier or it's for your personal museum ?

made in Slovenia (Europe) and all their tools are made by them, and all made in Slovenia, not in china like some other "big name" brands... all in all their wrenches are pretty expensive and they are solid, pliers are fine, but stay away from their screwdrivers, tried some and they were just too "soft" for me (since i use em as a pry bar for tire) but like i said you cant go wrong with unior wrenches, also ratchets and sockets are nice too... here's the unior site

My beloved 7,65Br tool, made in W.Germany in 1970 :)

020820112529.jpg

That is so nice. I held one at the last gun show I attended and it felt great in my hand and was very well made unlike the US made Walthers. I'm planning on buying a 7.65 CZ 83 after I get that Sig P226R German in a month or so. :)

Also found these at my grandmothers.

I can concur on the quality of all Hoffmann brands/tools.

If at all possible, try and find an industrial client who orders from them, and try to order thru the industrial client. The discount you can get as a good (high volume)customer is unsurpassed.
Prices of those high quality german tools suddenly drop to asian levels. A tool addicts dream, as good as ***, without the physical strain.

From what I can tell you the rebates differ depending on the brand you wanna buy. Industrial buyers usually get the highest discounts at Hoffmann on original Stahlwille tools. Discounts on Hazet and Gedore are about 10% worse. The genuine Hoffman brands are discounted in the same range as Hazet/Gedore but their base price is already lower.

If you compare internet prices for end customers from various dealers you end up at a very similar price level as buying under industrial conditions, because a private person always has to pay VAT (in Germany 19%), which eats up a large piece of your discount. This means you only get prices down to Taiwan/Chinese levels if you own a shop / business AND you have to be a good customer at Hoffman, since the rebates also depend on the revenue you make with them.

Well that is true if you live in Germany. The private end user always has to pay VAT. But then if you get a discount it is still cheaper than without a discount, right?

But if you (private person) live outside of the European Union then you do not have to pay VAT. So if you live in the USA and order from a German dealer like me, you do not pay VAT. As long as the tools are physically exported outside of the European Union.

Hey Monte, can you show some pics of the two Gedore wrenches side by side to show the side of the beam?
I have a 1b 13mm too which I bought for a spesific purpose back in the 80's. Don't remember what it was but the deep offset thin-wall box end did the trick. Don't like the sharp handle though.

Some time ago I got these side-cut pliers for 2Eur in local pawn shop. I only knew I need them, but nothing about Garant brand - for "small" tools like this, is it good choice or not? Does Garant have something with Stahlwille?

Thanks Monte

nice Bosch gun ! Didn´t know that they once made one !! cool !

Well, you know that you won't go to sleep without having learnt something new, now you know Bosch once made such tool (or somebody did for Bosch) ;)
It has been at home for more than 20 years and it still works.

Took some pics of my fathers soldering equipment:

Weller Record soldering gun

Engel Löter
....and a Bostik hot glue gun

Nice soldering irons, have you and your father used them much?
Mine (well, it's from my father) has seen little use, to say the truth.

nice Bosch:thumbup:

Thanks mrtools ;)
