Nice PB Swiss. I picked up the nail punches when the big sales were on via amazon. Haven't checked prices lately, but would've loved to have gotten complete sets. Did get some of the other punches as well. Just a few here and there.

What do you all have for X-Acto type knives made in Europe or Japan?

The X-Acto brand, which I get from the Micro-Mark catalog works for me, but always interested in hearing what else is out there.

The previous weekend, I began to perform maintenance on some of my tools, and among them was my Force ratchet (1/2")

Actually, to be a ratchet $20, I was struck by its quality. It is the first time gave maintenance since I bought it about 2 years ago. Inside you can see some aspects possibly taken from some European models..., including its thick bottom cover (like hazet ). However, I wish it had been designed with two or more teeth in contact, but just is not a brand that produces expensive tools

I agree with you, many tools that come from CHINA have improved now, although it is generally for prestige brands migrating their production to this country

It is for cost cutting for a better bottom lines that they shift production to china. But good brands out there have their tools made in taiwan instead. Much higher level of quality. Allot of snap on's bluepoint and williams are made in taiwan. Proto makes their allot of their blackhawk line in taiwan also.

I just recently started getting taiwan tools, and they are as nice as the japanese tools I have. Still can not get myself to buy china made hand tools. The quality not there yet.

Whilst on the subject of quality how do members on here rate Heyco? I know that they make many tools for VW and BMW.

I have some Hazet and Stahlwille and I really like them. Any thoughts welcome.

Many thanks,

Gareth

Welcome back

My additions..

Nice acquisitions Gregster,

One question, the magnetic shell HAZET 197-3, bought it in Canada, online, or by another way?

...thanks God my Vise-Grip locking pliers still made in USA:thumbup:
...

You're lucky MrTool,

I've been searching stores in Costa Rica where they sell VISE-GRIP still made in USA, but usually it's the special models to support large parts (welding). On the other hand, I have seen some models KNIPEX (amazon), TOP and LOBSTER (levelchrome) very interesting, so maybe choose one of these ;)

I still will not buy chinese made tools, but the taiwan made ones are very good. They are as well made as the japanese tools I had.

Chinese tools have improved, but not to the point where I would consider them given the other options out there like EU, USA, Japan or Taiwan tools.

Awesome MrTools

Today:

Armstrong Ratchet 3/8 (model 11-994)

For some time, I heard about the quality of Armstrong tools, and many claim to be assimilated to MATCO and SNAPON but at a much lower price. So I purchased the model "11-994" out of curiosity, at first glance you may notice a very good finish in the design, and construction. As the number of teeth has only 60, however for my purposes there is no problem, and I accept that it shows very consistent. In addition, partly in terms of quality, I will start testing it :)

And of course, along with my new HAZET

Recent acquisitions from a local junk tool store, just a couple of bucks each. Mixed new old stock Wera ball drivers in fractional and Torx and also non-ball insulated fractional. Can anyone date these? I imagine I'm gonna have hell trying to find fills for these sets in the original style handles.

Some Wera 1/2 and 3/8 Torx sockets from the same place.
Lol, 1/2 drive T20 Torx. At least I can take the bits out and use the sockets to drive something else, they seem like good quality. Does anyone know how old these are too?

Sorry for the crappy cellphone pictures.

Any pics of the drill press ? :)

Made in Germany, of course :p

Look at this snap on screwdriver, I think it's made by wera. The bit holder and extention are just like wera and it's made in the Czech Republic

It doesn't surprise me that with your keen eye for details you couldn't miss the drill press.

Sorry, these are from the day I brought it back home and I didn't take others one since it's on its bench.

It's an Arboga B2508 (Sweden), probably the best bench drill press I've ever seen.
It's small (110kg) but is mostly built like a milling machine (they produced it with a cross table too), it has a mechanical gearbox, the spindle is on taper roller bearings, there are 4 screws for the adjustment of the perpendicularity of the column, difficult to ask for more except a power feed...
I've never pushed it too hard, but it doesn't slow down even with 20mm drills, I have to drill some 26mm holes in 25mm steel plates, I will see how it will handle it but I'm not worried :)

I need to repair this Swiss made drill..but don't know where to get a spare parts.
does someone here know where can I get a spare parts?

what kind of spare parts do you need?
I usually try to find the ref number on the part and then google it, last time it was the rotation inversion switch integrated in the trigger of a small bosch drill, but the cheapest place sold it half the price of a new drill, I bought a new one :(

My tool purchase of last week-end, an Hilma (Germany) hydraulic vice, very well made

What´s wrong ? cord ?

You could send it in:
http://www.bosch-pt.com.my/professional/service/aftersalesservice/aftersalesservice.shtml

or look up the necessary spare part online
http://www.powertools-aftersalesser...prof/service?lgRedirect=true&country=MY&lg=en
and order it through a service center or local Bosch dealer.
