i don´t know about the age but coo should be Czech Republic ! http://york.cz/mvptrukin, Monte: it's York, very big York... Any suggestions about year of manufacture and COO? And although it's not for sale, is it some rare thing? For me it is just normal old vise...
ooops, you can keep themMonte, those Knipex pliers wouldn't satisfy you, they took a lot of abuse during their sad life...

.Could you tell me, are these blue pliers made by NWS too?
But I have to say that the quality of red pliers line was better in every way - better finish, tighter tolerances, and jaws can be opened more more wide:
you can´t go wrong with knipextime to buy another mini bolt cutter

Thanks! It was an action price, normal price is 449 Kč = 18 Euro. There was only one last pieceBut I have to say that the quality of red pliers line was better in every way - better finish, tighter tolerances, and jaws can be opened more more wide
Monte who told you that I don't need one of my two kidneys?
Come on man, I need more gedore tools.![]()
I opened one of them to put grease. On this occasion I took some photos. so..
In the photo you can see the small ball. The spring is located in a hole inside the selector. With the selector out 2 coils of the spring protrudes. First i cut one of them end then i cut and the other one. If someone needs more smoothness, can cut more coils and then he can pull the spring out to lengthen it. There is no problem if no coils protrudes because when the mechanism is moving the ball goes in the hole. I put the edge that i cut to the inner side of the hole. The more easy way to put the ball, the spring, and the selector to their position is with a little grease to hold the ball or with a small magnet. The rest are easy now.
There is a noticeable difference before and after. If someone likes the smoothness of a Taiwanese wrench i think that it worth a try.
not the OEM but available from several companies

nice Palmera pliers. Makes me want to buy this set:
http://www.24-7-tools.de/catalog/pr...d/463?osCsid=1c1520e099ce9d9eeb650dfac4d246ce
for me it´s not a problem either, i only wanted to warn the (american) consumer that they might get something different than they expected so they are not sad or disappointed. Because tools in america are usually perfectly finished it seems (except Craftsman maybe) whether they are from the US or Taiwan, so the customer expects a flawless finish or the quality is not good in their opinion and they don´t like it.
New "Wisent" screwdriver sold at the "Bauhaus" stores:
btw some of them were 6 pt and some 12.Bonus pic:
Gedore 1/4" set. Not mine, no idea of age.

You didn't notice any difference with the grease? I'm not sure I want to cut the springs, I'll probably let the wear in instead. But if someone found a greasing helped a bit I might do that.
man i have seem like 10 cracked gedore in last 10 days,we were working on my friends motorcycle,i noticed that he has 21 mm gedore cracked socket,my uncle has 19 or 22 cracked, today on flea market i seen 6 or 7 all cracked... wtf is wrong with gedore???btw some of them were 6 pt and some 12.

Yes but only a little. When (if) you opened them take a look at the spring. It's very easy if you have the non reversible. You can see how stiff it is. I have opened some other Taiwanese ratcheting wrenches and no one has so stiff spring.
Of course it's not necessary to cut it. You can change it if you want. Or you can leave it as it is. Neither do i know if i will cut the spring to the rest. It's not bother me so much.
Are these made in Germany? Do you see if all the peaces has the "Germany"?
All pieces are not marked Germany. The ratchet and the breaker bar is not marked at all. Sockets, T-handle and the U-joint is marked Gedore Germany. Could perhaps be that the ratchet and breaker bar is replaced, but seems strange when the kit seems to be in so good condition.
dykmore,
Thanks for the close up of the York vise, there are numerous threads on the forum about our addiction to vises,I was thinking what a small world it was to see a Wilton vise, made in the USA, in a work shop in the Czech republic. However, after seeing the closeup I remembered the story that the founder of Wilton, a Mr Vogel, was a refugee from Prague and "borrowed" the design from York.

nice setI bought today. second-hand.
MATADOR

wow beautiful wrenches !!! I would keep them like that !! historic documents !bought some at flea market few moments ago
what´s not good about them ?Can't say the Palmera pliers are super. For the price they were great, but my Knipex stuff is what sees use. As a unusual collection filler they're nice also, I like the green color..
Gedore pliers also look better than their wrenchesI checked mine now also, and the grinding on the heads are not perfect here either. I got to be honest and say I prefer a nice finish (NWS is a good example of a German manufacturer with a high quality finish), but this is within acceptable levels. I think some imperfections is more acceptable on a satin finish also than it would be on a full polish wrench. No doubt the Americans have higher expectations on tool "bling-bling" though..
over here no sale....i think they can send everything back to the manufacturer or got rid of everything and sold it to a liquidator. After reading this I went to the local Bauhaus to check if the Wiha made ones were on sale. But here the new ones had not come. The shelves were still only Wiha made stuff. I'll have to check occasionally now though, getting some Wiha stuff cheap would be nice.
so we can expect a lot of new tools from the Bahco store ?Oh, and new avatar (sold the Jetta) but don't be confused, still me.
the ratchet dont look germanBonus pic:

They sell them here too, maybe there is a chinese copy of it.....they copy everything....I got this VDE screwdriver in one strange "baumarkt". Wonder if it's really made in Germany, or is it some chinese fake? Because I saw absolutely similar one with another brand name (Honiton), but with no Germany origin written on it. Anybody knows?
