very cool, didn't realise you could still get them from toyota, guess thats the part number there? is that a japanese industry standard one?

They're still available, the part numbers can be found on the Toyota EU site under "4. Recommended tools and checkers".

i know they used to sell toyota branded JIS vessel ones, not sure if they still do or not, still need to get my hands on a decent set of JIS drivers, shame there seemingly quite rare, and none of the big european or american brands seem to make any to my knowledge despite JIS screws being everywhere

Well, I had to do a little test to see how well they fit JIS screws. By no means do I claim this to be conclusive, but here's the result.
Drivers used are the Toyota/Vessel Megadora Tang-Thru, a Facom AZPH and a SKG 635 - all 3 in size P2:
All fasteners I tried are Toyota spares, unused. The packaging states the COO on them.
1: 93567-55016, made in Japan, a perfect fit for the Vessel, slight wobble for both the Facom and the SKG.
2: 93319-15008, made in Japan, same result as above.
3: 90159-50201, made in Japan - and has the JIS dimple, again the same result as above, although the Facom seemed to fit this one better.
4: 90159-60546, made in France, a perfect fit for the Facom and the SKG, and a very slight wobble for the Vessel.

If you're not on a budget, a BMW is great, but if you're counting pennies, nothing beats a Toyota. VWs are a nightmare, so are Fiats. So what's the deal. Is it protectionist taxation or something?

Hazet products... Well here is one and it is old, but how old?

You can see hint of that old blue, and ligth yellow, paint.

Set has both mm and inch in same socket, like in old days they used to.

btw, ratchet works and is very nice to use.

I haven't even dare to clean this set and I am not sure should I restore it or keep it as it is. (I am kind of thinkin to keep it like it is but clean in ligthly)

good+cheap+dealer = impossible Most of the Stahlwille, gedore, hazet ... stuff is always pretty close to the list price.

I once bought some stuff from www.fluidonline.de When you want to grap a bargain watch out on ebay germany.

All of my stahlwille ratchets I have bought there and all were in new condition. My latest deal was a 532 long handle STahlwille ratchet for just 28euros Normally they sell for 80-90.

That Hazet 240a set is absolutely amazing! If anyone out there is knowledgeable about early Hazet, I would love to know just how old it really is. It looks antediluvian! Hazet started in 1868, so it could be any time after that. I would guess 1930's? I know what 1950's ratchets look like, and this is older.
Whatever you do, don't wire brush them, that would ruin the patina forever. I would recommend using WD40 and a brass brush by hand to clean them up. Simichrome might be ok, too.

I've not found a cheap Stahlwille dealer however my new Stahlwille purchases have been from Primetools.co.uk and some from eBay like others have mentioned.

I would have guess 1930's but 1920's is really old!
Thanks for the information, ratchet does look different, even older as what I have is side open and ratchet body is bendet heavy steel, that is drop forced.
I did clean these tools and case today and will post clean pictures tomorrow.

This supplement (down on the left) explains the modification of the new ratchet in the year 1933, so yours must be older.

To identify the publish year of the Hazet catalogues like this "No. 633" (used to the early 50´s) is just to take the last two numbers who stands for the year.

Because you found parts of blue and yellow paint on the case it had to be in the period of time late 1920´s till 1933 because earlier the cases were made of wood and the labels were orange (like on the letterhead down right - not the whole one, only the color).

Does anyone out there have a source for scans of old Hazet catalogs? I would love to learn more about vintage Hazet.
There seems to be a lot more material available for old Snap-On and Plomb. You can study the catalogs and then can bracket the possible dates of the tools, even with the absence of a date code.
Or maybe it's just the language? Do any of the German speaking members have any web links?

Here are pictures after careful wash with toothbrush and soapwater for case.
Tools themself where dipped to paint thinner and brushed with toothbrush.
Suff that came out was not oil, more like oil that had turned to dirt.

I would not clean these tools anymore, being afraid to loose paint. Water is issue to rust, but usually old plate holds rust out very good and I did dry it out with heatgun.

Like the way how extension ball is not in same place between two of them.

Since I posted photos of socket sets, Here is one more:

I found almost unused set 3/4" Bahco socket set, only one truck wheel bearing change it was used in early 1980's

From 4mm to 60mm

1/2" set is my family set from 1960's, adition there are Bahco SAE sockets.
1/4" set is also 1960's, by change I found new socket driver to bended replace one.
3/8" set is now limited to one ratchet (left down corner) as sockets are imposible to found. Equally imposible is to found 1/4" sockets from 1960's as those look different from those made in Germany, only one 12mm socket I have ever found, but this almost compleat set is rare.

Push trough ratchet is made in Sweden, unused as usual.
Those long sockets are not just "long sockets", they are actually "Bahco TS" or "tändstift" in English "sparkplug" sockets 21mm and 22mm.

For torquemeter I have found it's original instructions.

Anyone know what brand these pliers are? They are high quality with nice cutting edges and tight pivots. I got them about a year or so apart.

Also of interst is this 6" Spiegel adjustable that is stamped 'MADE IN GERMANY' on the jaws.

Hi guys,

Anybody knows what Hazet warranty is like when it comes to chrome chipping? Some of my sockets, extensions and a breaker bar are less then 1 year old but already have chrome peel/chip around the corners and edges. I'm a DYI'er/hobbyist not a pro wrench so the items have only seen very light occasional use. I've been building my mostly Hazet tool collection for a almost year now and I'm somewhat disappointed with the finish giving up so early! I emailed the dealer but thought I'd ask here too.

Source HAZET-Homepage about the warranty:

"Basically, the current legal regulations. Moreover, given the quality HAZET full warranty: HAZET replace any tool that defects in materials or workmanship."

So I would send the tools to the dealer and demand replacement.

you can find them quite often also cars from Korea, of course in germany you can find german cars more often, in france french cars etc. followed by european brands.

i paid 20€ at the local scrap yard. The prices in the net can vary, sometimes the prices are sky high like this (larger) Peddinghaus vice
