Yes i was impressed with my visit to that country. I don't know if they are cheaper there, all i know is i have never seen those screwdrivers back home (Manila). I just learned of the Vessel brand here in this money draining thread :D..

I've never seen traffic as crazy as Ho Chi Minh city :eyecrazy: (I thought KL was bad previously) -how'd it compare with Manila?

Its a different beast, here you have to contend with unruly cars, buses, jeeps, motorcycles, which i think makes the traffic here worse. In Ho Chi Minh its mostly scooters/ motorcycles. I have never seen that much motorcycles on the road hehe..crossing the street for the first time was nerve wracking. But i found out that its them who will adjust once you start crossing.

I love the fact that girls in miniskirts still ride them scooters

Very nice! Want to come paint my cart? :)
Sure!! if I'm the new owner of your tool cart

Thanks.
Combine Hazet and Snap On? I just use whatever seems best for the job so sometimes it ends up that way.
The Hazet is less slick in use, I prefer the looks of its finish and it's more comfortable. SO is longer, so more leverage.
maybe they a good partner:thumbup:
Nice Toyo boxes! I used to work at a Japanese company an they had Toyo and Tone tools around (also had Toyo large industrial grinders - maybe a totally different company?).
Thanks! Do you have the pics?
I think the grinder produce by another company..Just like Mitsubishi heavy machinery, Mitsubishi Motor, Mitsubishi Electric and many more;)

Smashing job, to think they were destined to become tin cans.
Thanks!! ;)

time to buy a VW :D:thumbup:
They already assemble the VW "Passat" in Malaysia, the VW "Polo" and "Jetta" will follow maybe. Maybe they will buy Proton too....
ps: www.vwclubmalaysia.net :)
Unfortunately I have no money to get one in my garage:sad: here the import car need to pays government duty import, the tax is too high and the import car comes with very high prices tags:lol_hitti

the oldest catalog i have is from 1987 and a newer model is pictured there, so it must be older, maybe around 30 years old.
Awesome!!

thanks buddy
WOW very nice job !!! Looks like new !!!:bowdown::bowdown:
Thanks:beer:

Gedore punch + chisel set
Nice:drool: truly German made?

got me another Peddinghaus vise/vice :)
Awesome:shocking:

New upgrade for my Assistent.
nice jobs:thumbup:

I have finished a little project though: A handle for the lid on my toolbox:
Made from some bolts, nuts and a 10/11mm Bahco double open end wrench.
Great creativity  but I'm sure the wrenches is not Germany or Sweden Bahco;)
btw:nice tool cabinet/drawer, what is the brand and how much you paid for them?

Clamp. Made in USSR
nice..very serious clamp:bowdown:

Clamp. Wolfcraft. 700mm.very good
Any COO at the clamp?
I found Wolfcraft clamp in my local tools shop but no COO on them:headscrat

Today's delivered treasure!
Great treasure!!!

second is this of older Habero "Redband" ballpeen hammers, kind of weird looking, the heads are machined (cant seen in that picture but you see where thy have been turned on a lathe) also have an odd way of securing the head to the shaft, via a roll pin, not entirely sure if that's a good way as it may make the shaft weaker at the head?
Awesome hammer  unfortunately it very hard to get it now. Ooo..man you make me sick :(
btw: don't want to sell it one of them?:D

Here it is at last; The eagerly awaited restoration of my Gedore-clone tool cart. Keen followers will recall that within the last few weeks I obtained this cart, in sound, but a bit sorry state:
Congratulation!! It looking good, nice cleaning and upgrading jobs. The vise match the hammered finish of the tool cart..awesome combination.
thanks for the pics I like to see old stuff back to the original again:thumbup:

Haha cheers - I'm glad the first post wasn't somebody who maybe didn't get that I was joking about "restoration". I've got a brand new tool cabinet to keep pretty, so happy to have one that I can also use and not worry about scratching. I'm also far too lazy and talentless to have a go at any real restoration effort on something like a tool cart.
Your cart don't need a full restoration, the original hammered paint still have their shiny and with a minimum rusty. You do right! nice and easy transformation

Today's arrivals, brought to you (or me at least) by the UK Hot Deals thread.
nice:drool:

Here's a Heyco water pump type plier. I'm wondering if this was part of an auto kit? It's very light in weight. Its a bmw toolkit plier
sure it's from car tool kits, see below;)

nice:drool:
my favourite screwdriver  how much you pay for a set?

I love the fact that girls in miniskirts still ride them scooters
that a good reason to spent much time on traffic:drool:

vietnam was nice to visit, but I was not to impress. They really go out of their way to severely over charge the tourist. The beaches were great, especially in DaNang.

COO is Country Of Origin. Where the product (or major part of the product) is made.

Made in Germany means that COO is Germany.

Nice tools mrtools. Love those Gedore ratcheting wenches. You have Monte as your personal shopper now? :rocker:

Unfortunately I have no money to get one in my garage:sad: here the import car need to pays government duty import, the tax is too high and the import car comes with very high prices tags:lol_hitti
and don´t forget to add the value loss so after a few years the car is worth almost nothing :(
Nice:drool: truly German made?

Scored a South African made Gedore 3/4 socket set on CL!

The seller listed a number of items and represented everything with a group photo. When I made out the name on the box of the 3/4 socket set I called and he reserved it for me for 4 days when it was convenient for us to get together.

GedoreBoxSm.jpg

The set covers 7/8 to 1 1/2 in 1/16th increments then 1 5/8, 1 15/16, and 2" so 14 sockets included. Also an 8" and a 16" extension, 20" T-bar and 20" ratchet.

GedoreKit3Sm.jpg

I like the way the tools fit into place in the box. It's a really compact set for what it is.

GedoreKit1471Sm.jpg

I was a little disappointed to see the ratchet wasn't the standard pear shaped head with switchable direction lever but when I picked this one up I couldn't believe how light it was. I'm not sure what alloy it's made from but it's super light. You just do the old flip it and push the 3/4" square plug through to the other side to reverse it. The ratchet is the only piece made in Germany, everything else is stamped "Made In South Africa". If anyone can shed some light on the "Made in South Africa" I'd like to hear about it.

GedoreSockesSm1456.jpg

Although some of these tools showed signs of heavy use (like the T-bar) and the 1-3/16 socket isn't a Gedore, (replaced with a Stahlwille), I didn't mind shelling out $120.00 for this set.

I also picked up a couple of Hazet ratchets from a different CL deal, a 72 tooth 1/2 916F and a 3/8 8816, my 1st Hazet ratchets.

Good deal in the Gedore. I have a Gedore 2/4 drive ratchet l
That looks like that except it has a fine took mechanism with a round directional lever. Body looks the same and it is super light. The weight is due to the I beam shape. Mine had some lay in the head and I just made a plastic shim for it yesterday, much nicer now.

Cool hazets!

New arrivals:

Format hammers and offset scredrivers, Wiha hex drivers, and Facom universal cutters.

View media item 23517
The Format hammers (like the engineers hammers I bought earlier) appear to be Gedore clones, but far cheaper. Still made in Germany though - I suspect in the same plant(?):

The Wiha hex drivers are German. I've now got a set each in 200mm, 150mm, and 100mm. I spotted a torx driver for sale on ebay, German-made and by "AMF" that shares the same handle so I suspect these are also made in the same plant:

The facom cutters are nice. The blades look very good, but the plastic part of the handles looks slightly cheap in comparison. I'm sure they'll hold up ok though for my garage "scissors". No COO on these

They must be who's making them for Gedore/Habero as well then:

I'd say definitely made by that company -they're identical. How the hell you managed to find that though.... :D

I think the Format offset screwdrivers are maybe made by Wiha (or whomever might be making them for Wiha):

A SoftPlus 250 hammer and two rotband plus handles for 500 gram and 1500 gram heads. Ochsenkopf catalog as a nice bonus.

Bought from Eurafco which ships worldwide for those interested in Gedore and more. Good prices on both the tools and the shipping.

Gedore has been made in South Africa under license for many years.

Mainly the hardline tools (wrenches and sockets). Quality is very good and they are used in our industries (mining, manufacturing and petrochemical) daily. I own a lot of them.

Great creativity  but I'm sure the wrenches is not Germany or Sweden Bahco;)
btw:nice tool cabinet/drawer, what is the brand and how much you paid for them?

Thanks! The wrench is not marked with a country, so probably Argentina or something. It's an older model, that I bought for €2 for this very purpose.

My boxes are CoTech, the house brand of the swedish ClasOhlson DIY-store chain. Probably available under lots of other brands, they don't have their own production. SEK 1500:- for the top and 2000:- for the bottom, a bit over $500 together. Boxes are expensive here...

Nice 7UR set, I'm jealous!

tools in action

You like using angle grinders? Most of your "in action" stuff is of that :bounce:

I have some new purchases to post also. Got this plier:
IMG_1806.jpg

IMG_1808.jpg

It's a snap ring plier for rings without holes. A VW air cooled engine crank has one like that (PIC) so I needed this tool (Well, I need all tools, but this one I had a use for immediately :D ).

IMG_1811.jpg

Carlous locking extensions. 375mm 1/2" and 300mm 3/8". No COO, but probably China or Taiwan.

IMG_1813.jpg

Hazet bit holder. The handle was a bit scuffed unfortunately. No COO, not Germany as it is not marked as that in the catalogue.

IMG_1816.jpg

IMG_1818.jpg

Knipex forked welding locking plier.

IMG_1819.jpg

I got a Knipex electrical multi plier also. Not marked with Germany, not common for Knipex. A bit disappointed, but it's just for the in-car-kit so...

yeah i think so, also for big box stores and others("Lux", "Connex", "Picard" etc....)

I'd say definitely made by that company -they're identical. How the hell you managed to find that though.... :D

that´s easy :)
if you would have followed this thread from page 1 :D then you would know this link www.cens.com :) , set the search to "Hardware" and "Product" and enter "shears" in the search field :) If you now scroll down you should find what you are looking for ;)
or look here :)

€30.- pliers to remove a $3.- snap ring :eyecrazy::D:thumbup:

the screwdrivers with that handle are "Made in Europe"

on a japanese tool page i once found a pic of a (older) Knipex crimping plier, next to it a japanese crimping tool which looked similar.

Watch out for polar bears.

That link for Eurafco looks really good BTW. Even the shipping to the UK looks reasonable. I've book marked it and will have a closer look later

Smooth action on the locking collar on those Carolus extensions?

I haven't got any better ones to compare with, but I think they're good. Haven't used them yet, but I tested them a bit and had no problems operating them.

Got some more Carlous stuff also, and I think they're a good economy option!

yeah i love them :) they produce nice sparks :D

I know what you mean, it's fun!

Yup, I'm too big of a tool freak to stand there with two screwdrivers and bend like some neanderthal. :) Gotta have the tool made for the job!

Ok, nice! So some former eastern bloc country I presume.

on a japanese tool page i once found a pic of a (older) Knipex crimping plier, next to it a japanese crimping tool which looked similar.

Nice find as always, seems very similar! If that is the case, I think they should print Japan on them!
