That Metabo cordless magnetic drill looks badass. I'd like to have one of those.

Are Metabo's good tools? We used to have some Metabo drills at work a little more than 15 years ago and I didn't think they were any good at the time. I didn't think they were as nice as our Bosch drills. I used to call them "Metablow" since I thought they sucked.

Which drills ?? They offer many.... metal gear case ? plastic ? used for what ? etc.... difficult to say.... if it has a metal gear case and/or a red stripe on the housing it theoretically should be a good tool :) A brand name is no indicator of quality anymore (maybe if it says "Duss" or Festool" ...ok...:)) and Metabo like Bosch and other manufacturers too produce tools for semi-professional use or let´s honestly say tools which shouldn´t carry their brand name....but it´s about the price nowadays.....

Awesome pics Monte.

It seems they make good pliers in Vietnam nowadays?

This is the way I look at it...Wiha advertise on their website that they have a plant in Vietnam. They don't out-source to the cheapest forging shop, they have set up their own infrastructure. They put their name on the front door so I am guessing that they have guys from Germany or trained in Germany working there, keeping an eye on things, QA wise :).

Or a person could just buy a set of these.

The total cost was + a 4mm drill bit and some bolts also :) But I'm happy with the outcome, without a handle it was much more work to open.

I tried for a long time to get by with cantilever boxes and such, thinking it was better to spend the money on the tools. But having order and finding tools easy is worth much I think now. I have already grown out of this box though...
you right man..;)

Here are some close ups of the Hazet Ratchets for those who asked:
Thanks ..awesome pics:beer:

Been after a set of these for a while. I knew they were made in Wiha's plant in Vietnam, but they were such a good idea (magic tips) that I thought I'd give them a go.
Nice piano wire insert.., upgraded Knipex design, more practical with magic tips :D

Ding-ding-ding!
I had to take a couple photos for evidence. :D

Today I bought NOS sockets set Tona (CZEHOSLOVAKIA).
I'm waiting for the delivery :).
:bounce:
TONA ??? good quality??? Czech forums write only good things about this brand (now a factory collapsed, and the production is in China) :(...
Does anybody know anything about this brand ???

This is the sentimental value, why they are my ancestors lived in the Czech Republic, and I am a Czech, who lives in Croatia:rocker:

I suppose the second step is then deciding whether the problem is that you have too many, or that you don't yet have the entire set. :headscrat

I almost hate to admit it, but there are three missing from the photo (two in the post and one floating around the messy garage somewhere).

You do have doubles, right? One set in the garage and one in the basement...

And you have to build sets for your kids when they go off on thier own...

There are a few doubles in there yes - some live in the roller cab, some live in the tool cart about 2 metres away from that, and some live on the workbench pegboard another couple metres away.

No basement sadly - they're not that common in the UK.

That's a nice collection CanUK. Perfectly normal with some duplicates and then some backups and then some extras and so on. You're doing fine.

But... there are no angle grinders in that pic. :wtf: What have you done with the REAL Monte ??? :D

K.

below the promised pic :D

My guess is that the fields of chiropractic & physiotherapy sprung up in Germany not long after. :)
i dunno how heavy it was but it was rather compact :)

That casting looks magnificent for the 18 hundreds...better than a lot you see today.

Fein quality since 1895 :) ;)

All Metabo and Bosch in German market were made in Germany?
noooo :) Bosch tools here are from germany, switzerland, Malaysia, China and Russia mostly. Depends on the price of the product and the type of the product. For example all 14,4 and 18 Volt cordless drills and impact drivers are from Malaysia, the competence center for angle grinders and rotary hammers is in germany (with a few cheaper imports), the competence center for sanders and circular saws is in switzerland ( again lower priced tools around 100 to 150 € or so are imported - higher priced tools are swissmade). Power tool companies which solely produce in germany are rare because most companies either produce overseas too or buy tools from outside of germany. 100% Made in Germany is offered by small "exotic" companies like "Duss" or "Baier" but with a very limited offering. The companies who offer more different tools all buy them from around the world, for example "Eibenstock" only produces in germany but they sell tools under their name bought in Bulgaria or "Flex" also only has a factory in germany but sells tools under their name made in Italy, Bulgaria, Korea, Mexico and China for example.

They say the first step to recovery is recognising that you have a problem:

To be honest I've heard of the brand DUSS a few times, but I've never thought that it would be that serious.
So are the prices :eyecrazy:.

I bet the quality is great, but these prices for Bulgaria are just impossible - twice the price of an "equal" Bosch or a Makita.

The Duss hammers look awful by the way  - pretty ugly design, but they look very solid and rugged.

I actually like companies that produce limited type of products and are experts in their area - like Fein, Festool, Knipex, NWS and Duss obviously ...

yeah more like Hilti prices, but i was told Duss is better :)

:headscrat:D
yeah that´s right, they don´t change the design that often , maybe like every 20 years or so :) But that´s good for the customer because he can buy spare parts for that amount of time, while other companies change their design like i change my underwear :D like every 5 years or so. The quality is also still there and they invest the money in the longevity of the product while it seems other companies only invest the money in the design and to add more rubber to the tool and funky colours and buttons to make it a fashion/designer item....
I actually like companies that produce limited type of products and are experts in their area - like Fein, Festool, Knipex, NWS and Duss obviously ...

yeah me too, in most cases these tools are considered the best and highest quality of it´s class like "Duss" rotary hammers, "Mafell" circular saws, "Fein" drills, "Baier" wall chasers, "Scheer" routers, "Kränzle" pressure washers etc.....

Ahhhh... That's better. All is well again... :D

Which ones do you prefer, the round heads or the pear heads? Which ones see most use?

Interesting wrench design. Gearwrench really seem to make all kinds of different designs. Do you have a special use in mind for them?

The round heads seem a bit smoother initially, but the pear heads may just need a bit more use.

Sadly they're not getting much use at the moment. Long story ("saga" might be more appropriate), but the motorcycle I would be working on has been stolen, recovered and I am waiting (and waiting, and waiting, and waiting) for it to be returned to me.

Fortunately as well I've not had to do any repairs to the cars recently either (Hondas so generally trouble-free) - I hate working on cars (but do when needed), love working on motorcycles.

Thanks. Turns out posse and rope would have been the preferred route. I mistakenly involved the police, and they've caused me more stress, and cost me more time and money than the thief did.

...

That filter wrench/socket is nothing fancy, but the best I have used on my cars. I have seen a couple mods people have made to them. One guy threaded two holes in the ends and had some bolts he would screw down to push the filter off. Another just drilled holes and would run a few wood screws down into the filter if it was too tight.

those look like the craftsman inserts I use. Nice to have when you can not easily seat the bolt.

Is the the Lboxx with the led in the back ground?

Those L-Boxes are looking more and more like Tanos Systainers. I'll have to pick up a few to try out for size.

Currently using Festool Systainers and 2 P-Boxes for some compact Facom tool sets.

So it looks like Festool is getting royalties/license fee on Bosch L-Boxx sales....I didn't realize this was stamped on the Bosch product. Thx. SD

Yes, Sortimo uses a patented feature from Tanos so it seems they have to pay something and also have to stamp their boxes like that.
