The round heads seem a bit smoother initially, but the pear heads may just need a bit more use.

Sadly they're not getting much use at the moment. Long story ("saga" might be more appropriate), but the motorcycle I would be working on has been stolen, recovered and I am waiting (and waiting, and waiting, and waiting) for it to be returned to me.

Fortunately as well I've not had to do any repairs to the cars recently either (Hondas so generally trouble-free) - I hate working on cars (but do when needed), love working on motorcycles.

Ok, so I might have to get some round heads to test then. The pear heads have become my favorites (of the meagre ratchet selection I own).

Too bad about your bike. Hope it will work out in the end.

Very nice. I think the 440 is one of the better looking wrenches out there.

Sure is! Of the non-german ones it has no competition...

got myself some magnet inserts thanks to monte =) plus an oil wrench. Oh yes and some more l-boxxes

I have to get me those magnet inserts! Could we get some pics of them inserted/used?

Those L-Boxes are looking more and more like Tanos Systainers. I'll have to pick up a few to try out for size.

Currently using Festool Systainers and 2 P-Boxes for some compact Facom tool sets.

What are the compact Facom sets? Pics please! :)

Received these today-

Wera 3/8 & 1/2" sets in both metric and imperial.

Crappy phone photos do not do them justice.

So nice! I'm just a bit jealous...

Here is my TONA 1/2" socket set, a picture is worth 1000 words :D !!!

Cool set!

Mrtools- through a little mistake, I got these cheaper than listed. Basically, Gedores were free. So as it turns put, I have just over $40 shipped in all 4 pliers. Pretty good, I think.

I paid 13euros for the set here in austria that was the best price I could find. All the other prices start at 21 euros for the set

can you show us what's inside your new L-boxx :D
wanna see some empty boxes? :D I will post some pix when I have some more tools inside.

Gedore 6 piece hex t-handles
10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3mm
Useful when removing deep recessed socket head cap screws.
Also able to apply a bit more torque when using the long portion as a handle.

The newer J.151 3/8" is OK, and I have no doubt it's every bit as good functionally, but next to the French S.151 1/2" (or the French j.151 if you imagine it not beat up) it looks cheap not as nicely finished as the 161/171 series etc.
then it´s time to beat the new one up so it will look nice too :D

I suppose it's made in Italy - I haven't heard anywhere else except for the pear-heads and rotator ratchets.
italy is acceptable :)

If it's better to have 2 than one, then hopefully it's better still to have 22. Or is it 23 maybe? I've lost count. :headscrat Closer to 30 if I count the non-Facom ratchets
30 sounds healthy :D

nice set

That towel holder is also quite new. I was surprised by the quality. Comes with a tool tray for just 7,- Euros.

where did you buy it ?

you in your good mood when used the old one..:D I think;)
i think too ;)

Asian made too:headscrat
yep :)

Thanks to explain the real situation power tool in the German market..that a lot of my question have an answers..I thought all power tools sell in your local market made in Germany or at least made in Europe like you mention Switzerland..the advantage is, you have a wide selection depend of your budget from the very good one, average and the bad one:D
btw: you are so lucky:)
the lower priced tools can´t be made here since the cost of an employee in germany per hour is around 35.- €. So if you want to buy "made in germany" here you have to pay a bit more :)

Nice..free gift when you purchased your Flex grinder?:D :D
no, free gift from the exhibition :)

no made in Germany?
no coo ..... :(

nice promo video..and great to have one :D
yup :D

Gedore 6 piece hex t-handles
nice ! Didn´t think that they´re from germany !

Hey, long time no see cliceu.

Those are nice knives. I've had a Wenger Delémont since 1979 (I think) and it is very handy to have around. Helped both me and my friends (and strangers) many times. The scissor spring is broken and lost a piece of the knife tip but still going strong.

That is a nice haul for a tenner. Love those DIN wrenches. They look Dart Vaderish badass.

Plomb is an old classic sought after US brand that became known as PROTO after a trademark dispute with Plumb I think.

Great info - thanks. I'm familiar with Proto of course. I've seen the Plomb name on here before, but not paid much attention - never seen any of their tools in person before.

nice ! Looks almost like the Knipex

Yes, but you know my last knipex cobolt didn't last long, I put a nick in the jaw:(. it's not knipex fault ,All compact bolt cutters feature narrow jaws which isn't very long lasting . If you want something that lasts ,for cutting hard wire, nothing can beat Knipex centre cutters... I'am telling you boy I have these ,which have been used and abused for years, and still cut like a new:

Thank you. That is all. :)

Yes, WGB is definitely German, I've got some of their combination wrenches and DOE wrenches. Strange that there is no country of origin stamped on it, all mine do.

And Plomb is definitely American. Plomb is a top quality professional tool brand from Los Angeles. Plomb is the inventor of the combination wrench, incidentally. They are the predecessor of Proto. (they had to change the name because of a lawsuit with another tool company called Plumb. You may notice a little plumb bob symbol stamped on the tool. I think they did that just to piss Plumb off. Here you have one of the greatest brand names of the first half of the 20th century and they had to change their name because they forgot to register the brand! :wtf:) Although Proto is certainly famous, somehow they never regained their former glory under Plomb. The Plomb tool range were some of the coolest looking art-deco styled tools the world has ever seen, especially the "pebble finish" tools and "rope banded" sockets. It's a far cry from the very plain look of the Proto tools today. Of course, you can't really see that in the sliding T handle you have. That is a WF tool. WF stands for War Finish and were made during the second world war for the US military. (WF is a caveat for any warranty claims) Plomb made more tools for the war effort than any other brand. That is probably how that tool ended up in the UK. A lot of guys collect the WF tools specifically. It's kind of a WWII nostalgia thing. They were cadmium plated instead of chrome. Don't ever wire brush a WF tool or you'll get a nice lungful of poisonous cadmium.

See some examples below:

Cool and informative stuff.

Thanks! That's why I love this forum.

Don't ever wire brush a WF tool or you'll get a nice lungful of poisonous cadmium.

Oooops  Well it was only lightly, and with a tiny brass wheel on a dremel -so fingers crossed I'm not going to die the horrible illness or death described on Wiki :scared

Nepros NBR2UN 1/4 drive ratchet for just a tad over a fiver.
The eBay picture doesn't do it justice, this thing is like a mirror. The thought of using, and scratching it scares me. Can I just blame you lot for turning me into a tool polisher? :p

With €35.00 being an average, some will make more but many will make less. A lot of companies and even whole industry sectors also have collective agreements on working time reduction - 36 hours being quite common.
That €35.00 is also the cost to the employer, so after deduction of taxes, social security and contributions for a myriad of other things, you'll be lucky to end up with half of it in your bank account. Then you'll pay income tax on that ...

My local Costco is rubbish for tools. Where did you see the Metabo stuff?

Milton Keynes. It was just the angle grinder though and then the usual Dewalt, Makita, Panasonic etc.

The only stuff I usually buy from those aisles is the WD-40 and the blue paper shop towels, but it's nice to browse :)

I think Screwfix offered 9" + 4.5" combo for like £89 inc VAT. Hitachi though. Here: http://www.screwfix.com/c/tools/angle-grinders/cat830694?cm_sp=Tools-_-PowerTools-_-Grinders

Couple of weeks back Costco MK had CSPS toolbox for sale that I really liked. Wood top and quite heavy. I think it was £249 or something like that. Good value.

What were you doing in MK? I live around the corner from Costco. Should have popped in! ;)
