^^^ Looking busy, Bart! :)

Today's haul - The Leinen Twins.

A little story. A fellow member here (you know who you are ) tipped me off on a Leinen auction that wasn't far away. Turned out the seller had a pair of these so we struck a deal and I went to collect these babies this morning. They are in good condition, fully working and rare as hens teeth. The best part - they only cost us a £100 for the two. Unfortunately, the guy didn't have any more. They will be lovingly restored (maybe even powder coated) carefully maintained and will serve for another 100 years. They just couldn't end up in a better home! ;)

Thanks Monte, that lead me a bit further. Looks like Golden City was the 70's version of what Carolus is to Gedore today.

Impressive collection of combination spanners there.

Did one of these come with a hydraulic lift by any chance?

No, but the seller mentioned something about the lift. Almost causing an injury or something. You could say I was too busy checking the vices. What's the story?

The vintage knipex are interesting with one round and one flat jaw. This is a new design to me.

Now for a different kind of tool, with a different purpose.

Zwilling Pro S veggie knife and utility kitchen knife made in Germany the shears made in italy,

Fissler crispy pans all made in germany.

My wife is telling me we need a bigger house with a much bigger kitchen. Euro sized kitchen does not fit all our kitchen tools.

Pretty much is a Snap On apart from the badges. It was £500, which I thought was OK. :eyecrazy:

LOL only a bit hey? Looks great though -when do we get the drawer shots?

I will need some time to arrange everything, the garage is a little messy at the moment.

Congrats Will, they look great!

Thanks mate. The other one not in the picture is off to pastures new. Will help covering the cost of the new addition. ;)

A friend of the FIL knew someone south of the river flogging two big Leinen vices and said that one was mounted on a hydraulic lift. Can't imagine too many people in the country with a pair of these for sale.

A pair of big Leinen vices from down south? No, I don't think there's a connection.

LOL!

Probably the same guy. Small world! :)

Bahco branded Snap On replacement for the small rollcab is a serious bargain @ £500! New, unused too? Can't take my eyes off it :)

Today's haul - The Leinen Twins.

Twins now separated in a successful surgery. Thanks Alx! It is awesome! When I sat in on the bench the little 4" Woden next to it cringed and peed itself :)

Big :thumbup::thumbup: to Alx for sorting it out and making it happen. He even sent me home with a bonus gift!

@ willhollin,

Lovely toolboxes. Do the chrome / polished draw handle bits on the new one come off (to yield the understated look of the others) ?

K.

I've not had a close look yet but i would assume so as I think it's an optional extra on the Snap On website which you can retrofit to boxes. Will take a llok and let you know.

Those look mean. Ebay haul or?

Sort of. Saw one listed as part of a mixed set and emailed the seller (Gedore UK distributor) to see if they could do a larger set of just these. They're discontinued and I've been looking for them for a while now.

Spot the differences?

- The 21/23 is the only one stamped with a COO (Italy).
- The 20/22 has the Beta logo, but also a slightly uneven stamping of the name (looks worse in the pic than in person).
- The 7/8 and 13/17 are 6pt (series 935 -the rest are 930).
- The 30/32, 27/29, and 20/22 are have a slightly rougher paint finish inside the socket.

Apart from that they seem to be really nicely made and with a nice finish. They're heavy as well; The largest weighs 761g (1.7lbs) on it's own!

Angoo;2649443 More great tools from the old world. Thanks Roverbo! Keep 'em coming! [/QUOTE said:
Thanks Angoo, I will! Since i´m new here, the post I´ve made had some delay due to the anti-spam program, so thats why they came on a little akward (some pages back). But hopefully its just a matter of time and # of posts, so I will continue with camera and eh... keyboard.

Nice set, Mike. Original Made in France Facom tools are somewhat rare these days, which makes these even more valuable! Of all screwdriver handles the old skool clear rectangular plastic ones are my favourite. :)

Thanks Alx.

Here's some comparison pics of the old version (top) of the Facom 74 series 10mm, vs new version (bottom) of the 74, also in 10mm. Both are made in France:

- The newer version has a larger handle (good for my hands).
- The shaft penetrates further into the handle on the newer version and has a substantially larger flattened/flared area - which I would expect is more resistant to spinning in, or coming loose from the handle
- Newer version has a modern socket profile
- Newer version has a slightly larger bore in the shaft (at least for the stepped section in the shaft)

That looks like the stabila home owner series one. It is a very common design, all the big box stores in Germany carry them. Some made in Slovina other made in Czech or the one I got made in Germany.

Welcome back d.stole! Nice looking level, too. I've been looking for something similar. Do you know if this type is available outside Slovenia?

You might also look at Sola brand, made in Austria. They make a level similar to that one.
They are definitely a manufacturer.

They also guarantee the vials for 30 years, which makes me tend to think that there may be some relationship between these brands.

Yes, would love to buy that magazine in english...been to their website, and it´s all in japanese only.
:dunno: but why the text "Culture of Tools in Germany" ??
My guesss: The japanese graphic design-guy can´t read english, so he uses that text whenever there is an article from Europe...

Most Japanese mooks have titles and headers in English with the actual text in Japanese. Many also have their illustrations in both Japanese and English - sometimes a summary.

Van Steele: I´m not surprised that some of the texts are in english, but PB Swiss tools is a Swiss company, not German! More Alpenmilsch than beer...

Oh, I see. Maybe they just amalgamated all of the German speaking countries under the one name of "German Tradition and Culture". A bit like many people on the continent saying they've been to England when they actually visited Scotland or Wales.
