Hot dog CanUK! That is sweeeeeeeeeeet. May you be so kind as to share size and price?

Cheers North. It's 1023mm x 725mm x 1000mm (W x D x H) and the cost was £1000 inc VAT and delivery, plus a little more for the extras (foam, dividers, spanner rack). It's from the pre-configured range (so a limited selection of drawer configs and either blue or grey) -so is a bit less expensive than any made-to-order units.

It weighs ~230Kg empty. The drawers each have a 200Kg weight limit (apart from the very top 50mm drawer which is 75Kg - due to not being able to fit the 200Kg slides I assume), and the cabinet can support 4000Kg.

Now the only problem is being able to pay for the Snap On cabinets that it eats for breakfast. :)

Edit: I should say, I purchased it from these folks: http://www.listacabinets.co.uk/ who were excellent to deal with and very passionate about the product.

Hi all,
Haven't found time to post here but here is some pictures from summer.

Bougth a lathe...
Never use one and have't started it yet.
sorvi1.jpg

"Mr." Blomqvist, from sweden. Bowl or table it sits is made in Germany, Siemens "electronics" instruction are dated from 1952. Seems that company that made this lathe outsourced bench from Germany. Not a single Philips or Pozidrive scres are in that cabinet, all plates are screwed to metal frame with slotted screws.
sorvi2.jpg

I bougth that Gedore toolbox from same place, on that you can see socketset by Dowidat:
dowidat1.jpg

I try to collect Dowidat tools, a company bought by Gedore in 1986(?), since Dowidat tools got really good desing.
dowidat2.jpg

Dowidat used to paint their sockets from inside with silver paint so as soon as sockets got used, it can be seen from tool. This is by waranty or by fact you know you bought new tools, I do not know. You can see wear on one bigger sockets.

:yikes: I'm jealous!

Have you got rid of the other one?

Not yet, but I certainly need to now. Both from the space and cashflow perspective :)

I've got the Beta boxes up on ebay if you know anybody who might be keen. Prices if sold off of ebay will certainly be better :)

Now that is a beast!

Does it come with a selection of dividers or are they extra?

Also, would you mind taking a photo of this against say your Beta chests with a couple draws open? It is hard to visualise the size of it compared to a normal chest.

I am running out of room again and am debating whether or not to just buy a third Halfords chest or seek something a bit better.

That lista looks mighty tempting.

I had to order the dividers extra - I've just bought a small sample selection for now so I can decide how I might use them.

I'll do my best for a comparison shot, but there's a ridiculous pile of **** between this box and the Beta on the other side of the garage at the moment. I did calculate that I have ~52% more usable drawer area in this box than in the Beta stack.

In the photo above with the hammers -the grey foam pieces that they're sitting on were ones I had cut for the Beta, so you can see that nearly 2.5 Beta drawers would fit in each of this Lista's. These drawers are also deeper than the Beta's are wide.

Here's a pic of the largest ratcheting spanner that's in that drawer, so it might give you a better idea of the scale as well:

And of course there are loads of different sizes of cabinets and drawer configs available, even within the "pre-configured" series.

how do you like these carts and can you say a bit more about the quality?

The aldi workzone boxes are about the quality of the Harbor Freight boxes in the US. The metal is a bit thicker then the craftsman mid boxes that on on top. But for the price of 150 euros, you really can not beat the price. Einhall has the same box in blue but a bit more money. But these are consumer grade boxes.

The wisent box is nice, I like the storage layout for my power tools. I'll try to post some photos later of the drawers and side cabinet. It is well suited power tool storage. The metal is consumer grade, like the aldi workzone. But for 399 on sale, it was a good deal.

We have proto boxes at work, and neither of these boxes are on that level of quality, but they cost less then 1/3 the price.

Well, there is one simple solution to that! ;)

My wife will not allow me to get anymore tools. I got 700 euros in tool charts, actually a bit less with a discount voucher at bauhaus for the wisent box. But she is not going to be very happy if I buy enough tools to the empty drawer in the 3 carts. ;)

A happy wife is a happy life ;)

Thanks for the info. It really is excellent value when you add everything up, especially with the 200kg drawer capacity. Would be a tad bit harder to steal as well ;).

You have given me something to think about.

that would be nice if you can show some pictures. Dont know how I should organise my stuff although atm I still have to buy more of the basic tools (gedore hammers are next on the list).

I've done a lot of Lista cabinet drawer configurations over the past 16 years. It looks like an ES or HS cabinet (wider than it is deeper) and I've found that partitioning left to right instead of front to back will allow you to get more in the drawer. It's also best to keep the Facom wrenches in the module trays for optimizing space.

This is my latest catch - a set of Stahlwille deep offset metric ring spanners, size 6 - 32 mm. After cleaning I found an interesting text on every spanner that I did not notice earlier because of the dirt - STRONGER THAN ANY BOLT. Wow! Me very lucky :willy_nil.

I am curious how old this set is, anyone a clue?

Thanks (again)!

A few more pics. Just messing about here. I'm sure I'll reorganise things a few times before I settle on something, and I have more tools to fit in, and trays and racks to order.

Ok, now I'm booking some tickets with Ryan Air to go and steal your box! Too bad it will probably not be possible to bring back as carry-on :)

Amazing stuff, congratulations on a beautiful setup!

I understand. All too well... You'll have to spread it out a bit to get away with it. :)

I might have it wrong, but I think Stanley just bought Lista North America?

The part number for my cab is 14.514.010 (54x36E or 1023mm x 725mm x 1000mm WxDxH)- as far as I can see in the catalogues here there's no mention of EH or HS series (or any other series), but that may tie in with what I was told/cautioned about purchasing anything from the American catalogue as there are some differences in the products.

I'm with you on the Facom modules though - I plan to order a few more foam modules for my 440's, 467's, and 467f's if they have a foam module for them yet.

Edit: Here's something you might be able to help me with. From what I can tell the foam tray for the smaller 440's lays the spanners in one direction, while the tray for the large 400's lays them in the other direction. So if I sat the two modules together with all of the spanners arranged from small-to-large, some would tip towards me and some would tip away? Seems like an oversight, or am I missing something?

You might be right on the sale of Lista....perhaps Fredy Lienhardt (family) still owns the European company.

Not sure what the thinking was on the 440 small and large foam module trays. The thermoplastic ones are the same. I've had a few hundred custom partitions made up for he Facom thermoplastic trays in Lista boxes....LP75-22's and LP75-14's as the modules display is nicer with a partition between each one (the foam tray layout is more or less seamless and doesn't need the partitions. You can lay out your modules in the front with plenty of room for dividers and partitions at the rear for smaller sets, tools and accessories.

I think you're onto something using the dividers with the plastic trays. Looks sharp and probably provides a bit more support (the few Facom plastic trays I have are a bit flimsy on their own).

Hi Monte, that calender is very cool. I saw them listed with my online retailer but could not understand why they were so expensive. Now I realize they come loaded with tools. Do you know what they make up in the end?

i didn´t calculate everything but the bit ratchet which is included has a retail price of 25.-€ and the impact bit set 24.50€, the calender did cost me 45.-€. So you pay for these 2 things and the rest is for free.

My first Hazet puchase, some "exotic" tools for motorcycle maintenance:
hazet.jpg

Hazet 1/4 400mm extender
Hazet 1/2 470mm breaker bar
Hazet 1/2 32mm deep socket

Got a pretty good feal for these on German Ebay.
The 1/4 extender is for reaching the rear cylinder cam chain tensioner, the breaker bar and deep socket for getting off the front sprocket nut on a DL650.
Can't wait for spring to be here to put them to work.

Picked up this monster Meddings pillar drill today. Weighs about as much as a Rolls Royce. 5spd, plus a dual-range gearbox so 10 speeds total from 80-4000rpm.

It needs saying that I would not have got this if not for the efforts of Alx, who collected it (from a looong ways away), paid for it, and held on to it until I could come pick it up from him. A MASSIVE thanks to a genuine stand-up guy! :rocker::thumbup::beer:

Great for you, the DL is a sweet bike!
Regarding front sprocket change, that thing is 150Nm tight and red loctited from the factory, it will not budge without a breaker bar, you might even break the rathchet.

Thanks for the info. One more question. Why you need a deep socket? Is it more solid from an extension?

The nut is recessed about 80mm into the body of the bike and you'll need an extension if you are going to use a normal socket, which will do the job in the end, but for me it was a good opportunity to buy my first Hazet socket :)

Regarding front sprocket change, that thing is 150Nm tight and red loctited from the factory, it will not budge without a breaker bar, you might even break the rathchet.

The nut is recessed about 80mm into the body of the bike and you'll need an extension if you are going to use a normal socket, which will do the job in the end, but for me it was a good opportunity to buy my first Hazet socket :)

BTW an old HAZET 32mm socket
