Why not?

Their free sample giveaway meant Shoturtle completed the set by buying extra Felo drivers.

Personally I think it's a conspiracy, they must know that once someone on here has one screwdriver they then need to purchase the rest of the set.

Yup, must be a conspiracy. I like good drivers, and they got me to build out 3 sets of drivers total.

Found a potential deal, a guy is selling 20 taps and 50 dies for around 25 Euros :D
They are communist era taps and dies and look kind of like in this picture:
offer.jpg

Are these salvageable from all the corrosion they are in right now?

just the files or a holder like this: ?
yeah some special files might be made here (or NOS...) the holders says "Made in Germany" too but if the attached files are (still...) from here......? Most files say "Made by Pferd" and will be made here: http://engineering.indiabizclub.com/profile/1162896~pferd+tools+pvt.ltd.~nashik_india
i think i have a Öberg file laying around somewhere with a yellow handle from Sweden.... btw. do you know something about Viialia (?) files from Finland ?

it seems it did :)

Hi Monte, no sorry, i have no knowledge of Viialia, but can do some search, i understand and read swedish, so maybe that will be a help. As for Öberg, maybe some local community arcive has information about the company. The only finnish tools i have, is scissors from Fiskars, garden tools from danish Zinck-Lysbro, now made by Fiskars, and some old chisels from Woodpecker (a brand of Hackman). I checked the Pferd chainsaw files, they most be old NOS, the carton says "Made in W-Germany" :eyecrazy: So it´s India allright now...funny they don´t have a website - or maybe they don´t want to make a fuss about Pferd-India. Btw., was on a "buy the last Matador-Germany-stuff tour" to the local Bauhaus yesterday, and among the new 13 mm wrenches, there was one HR India wrench, with Matador sticker and barcode! Maybe thats where the "new" more glossy wrenches comes from? Not a bad choice, ref. to your scanned tests...:shocking: Too bad, I didn´t carry a camera.

They suddenly disappeared from the shops here.

Bahco was aquired, first by swedish Sandvik, to form Sandvik-Bacho. Later they were both sold to Snap-on europe to form the SNA Europe. Most of their tools are now made in Spain at Herramientas Eurotools (also bought by Snap-on) or Argentina at the former Bahco Southamerica factory. I think the last wrenches i have seen with "made in sweden" was about 5-6 years ago. Their famous pipe wrenches (well, at least in Scandinavia...) changed to Argentina a year ago (in danish shops).

in this pdf you can read that they started file production in india in 1990:

i´ve seen sockets too with Matador plastic label but without name on the socket.... so it seems somebody couldn´t deliver in time so they sourced the tools elsewhere......

Guys,when/why Bahco stopped making adjustable wrenches in Sweden?
They suddenly disappeared from the shops here.

I searched the subject in swedish, thought that some local paper might made a story ´bout this, and yes:
From unt.se, Uppsala nya tidning (Uppsala new daily):
Published: 2007-06-28 - Sista skiftnyckeln tillverkad i Enköping

My humble translation:
"Last adjustable wrench from Enköping
The last wrench has left the Bahco works in Fanna, Sweden, or SNA Europe, as the company is renamed. Today, friday, all production of tools ceased in the legendary bouldings in Enköping.
Bahco tools was aquired by Sandvik in 1991 and passed to american owned Snap On in 1999. In february 2006 the message was given, that the production in Enköping should be closed, and the same year the company name was changed to SNA Europe.
The disassembly of the drop forge presses and machines has been going on since december last year (2006) and large spaces in the plant stands empty. By now, 100 trucks loaded with machines and goods has been transfered to Spain, where the production will continue, still with the brand Bahco pressed in the die, but Made in Spain, not Made in Sweden.
When UNT are visting the Fanna plant thursday, the drop forge presses are closed for good, the last raw parts are pressed and has left the forgery. A 40 tonnes drop forge press with 1600 tonnes impact is dismounted and is about to a journey to Vitoria, Spain. A second press remains, to be sold at highest bid."

Hi MrTools, nice Öberg files! And even "made in Sweden". Öberg "classics"

in this pdf you can read that they started file production in india in 1990:
(page 11 where the india flag is)

here is more info about öberg in swedish:

Hi Monte, yes, the eskilstuna page was where i got the Öberg story from. On the chainsaw...page they have translated the complete story. Impressive!
It is strange though, with the internet in a larger view, there seems to be a "dead time zone" from about 1960´s to 1990. Older stuff of historic interest is well covered by organizations, collectors and heritage museums, and new stuff (from after the internet breakthrough), is of course well documentet. This goes for tools, industrial history, cars and music as well.
Regarding Matador, have they closed production, or is it just the tools for Bauhaus that comes from asia now?

Well their free trial work for them worked with me, I brought an additional 6 drivers. I order 2 pz 1 and 3 and order 1 ph 1 and ph 3.

Same here. Just need to find a GOOD dealer and not the local one who's a real ****. Been having problems with that company for years now.

Why not?

Their free sample giveaway meant Shoturtle completed the set by buying extra Felo drivers.

Personally I think it's a conspiracy, they must know that once someone on here has one screwdriver they then need to purchase the rest of the set.

If it was a conspiracy then I should be the one behind that conspiracy AND have a big set of free Felo's. I can tell you that's NOT the case! As I explained above, I'm still trying to find a good dealer (thanks Dutch distributor! which is the same distributor for NWS, Heyco & Heytec...), let alone have a nice set of Felo's...

When you get the Felo in your hands you will forget about Gedore screwdrivers, Gedore guy! :lol_hitti

The crappy handle of Gedore and fit with screws is the reason why I started looking for new screwdrivers.

I have a pretty extended set of Gedore screwdrivers but my main screwdriver is a Stanley 68-012 for the simple reason that I won't strip any screws with it when I apply some more torque. With the Gedore's it always ends with stripped screws. In every size.

And on top of that I find the handle of a Gedore screwdriver very uncomfortable nowadays. They give me cramp in the palm of my hand. And that's no fun....

Yes I know. ;)
All my screwdrivers are Felo ergonic rebranded for wurth. :D

View media item 21096

Quoted for the picture. Nice and clean set of tools with some nice organisation going on in that toolcase.

BTW: Are you liking your Gedore pliers? I surely do. I only wish that they would still make them with the Gedolat-handle material. It's definitly harder wearing than the 2-component handles...

The next time your girlfriend makes a comment like that again, quickly come back with your own comment, such as:

....I have a problem? Look who's talking about someone else having a problem! How about all those shoe's you've got in the closet to start off with!

I need a second opinion.
My girlfriend told me I have problem, but I don't see it.]

i only have a small selection of nuts and washers in M6 to M12 and a couple of screws. The plan is to purchase several screw and nut assortments in metal/plastic cases like in the pic below:

i dunno, for the cars i´m interested in there is plenty of info available.....i also don´t mind reading a book :) In case of Bahco tools maybe there simply is more history to tell in the early years, how the company started etc. the products invented etc. later history is mostly outsourcing to Argentina or Spain and lost jobs in Sweden, something which you don´t want to read in your companies history.....

A few of my blue boys.
nice collection !!

I need a second opinion.

My free Felo PZ2 has arrived today - woohoo! Looks and feels quality.

I tried the gravity-defying-screwdriver trick, and it works, but then it also does with my Wiha and even my Halfords driver - although not quite as snugly in the case of the Halfords :)

Anyhow, it seems to be a very nice screwdriver and I'm looking forward to seeing how I get on with the grip. I may need to go dig out some screws and a chunk of old 2x4 :)

So, it is German made? Would you have this socket set, or from Proxxon?
i´m not a big fan of the Proxxon or WGB/ISI ratchets.....
maybe i would get the ISI set and a better ratchet....
The ratchets seem to be german made, i dunno about the sockets....the newer WGB sockets seem to be imported, so will be the ISI sockets i guess ....???
