Today's Old World car boot haul (with a couple of USA). Please excuse the really awful photo - my Mrs is away with the camera and the one in my phone takes terrible pics:

View media item 29169
I spent £11.70 and I got the following:

Starting from top left and working down

- Unbranded (but solid feeling) 3/8” drive 610mm extension. Bought just because I thought it would be useful to have one quite long.

- Brand new Gedore ¼” drive 300mm extension. (Germany)

- Facom no44 Vanachrome ¼” x 5/16” spanner (France)

- Hazet 450 13mm x 15mm spanner (Germany)

- Craftsman ¾” (“Forged in USA” on the back)

-Craftsman 11/16” funky 6pt box end (“Forged in USA” on the back)

- Gedore No1B 14mm (Germany)

-Sidichrome 10mm x 12mm flare nut spanner stamped “Made in Australia” (this is quite a nice tool)

From top right working down

- “LiscoBrand” new in package stubby slot ( W. Germany) (I paid £0.50 for this and the Facom spanner)

- CeKa 3941 “GERMANMAKE” mini side cutters

- Millers Falls Co No55 wood handled ratcheting screwdriver. Marked “Greenfield Mass. Made in USA” and “Since 1868”. Not usually my thing but it was so pretty and well made (it works!) I couldn’t pass it up.

- Gedore No2, 21mm X 23mm offset spanner (Germany)

- Matador No 200 “Super-Chrom” (very slightly gold tint) 16mm X17mm offset spanner (Germany)

- Heyco No555 “Special Alloy Steel” 16mm X 17mm offset spanner (W. Germany)

The Old Sidchrome - are very good tools - New type not as good at all.

i like the screwdrivers and the locking pliers :)
Any more french tools inside ?? :D:dunno::p
me too..as we know Bose made this screwdriver. No more France made tools from the Expert cart except the Philips/slotted and Torx screwdriver.
The locking looks like Facom style but no COO, I think Taiwan;)

It's the first Sidichrome I've seen in person, so they must be reasonably uncommon over here. It's definitely a nice solid little tool.

The Old Sidchrome, was similar in quality to Proto of the same era, if not better. If you find more then it is a good find. my Friend.

I don't know yet. The whole set cost me around 40 €. If they last half of the time Wiha drivers last, it's a good deal. For exable, If i purchase in Greece 10 torx drivers from Wiha or Athlet or Gedore i need maybe more than 60 €. 80 € if i order PB Swiss.

I thought you were thinning down the collection!?!

I can't seem to resist a bargain! Also the "sport" of digging throught the bins of junk looking for a gem. And it gets me up and moving early Sunday morning. I very nearly drove to MK for the car boot there as well.

I'm going to give some of this away though -like the Craftsmans as I have virtually no use for fractional stuff really.

EDIT: Plus the Craftsmans are nasty, at least from the ergonomic perspective. It's like they forged a brick in the middle of the shaft with the raised panel.

Blöckw@rt's photos got me to thinking about the Hazet 450 that I picked up today. It's quite a bit different - thin blade and the sizes just stamped on. I'm wondering if this was part of a car tool kit?

EDIT: Found an identical looking spanner on ebay in which the description claims "Hazet 450 Series 13x15 13/15 13mm x 15mm 1965 Volkswagen Hubcap Toolkit tool box. It is part number 111016216 in the 195 Volkswagon "Alternate" hubcap tool box. This was part of the tool container inside the cap of the spare wheel. "

The lock-grip pliers are the spitting image of the Dolex BL250 pliers. Only difference is the plating on the jaws, the color of the plastic on the release, and the brand etched into the side. Unless they shifted the tooling to Taiwan, or had an extra set made to ship there I'd guess the pliers were made in France. The plating on the jaws is also similar to the plating on my facom 500 pliers. The chisel in the hammer module also looks similar to the chisel that came with a Facom module I have. I was sort of wondering if the chisels, or at least some of them were still sourced from france since it looks like a couple chisel patterns might be more easily sourced under the Expert brand.

Those socket spanners don't half look like the Facom 76, tray included.

Sharp looking box BTW, we get these in Britool flavour over here.

Bost also sell the anged socket spanners, complete with the Expert dimpled pattern. I think they're 6pt Facom 75 copies though (hopefully not too pedantic).

The 76 series has the 12-point only on the short side, the long side is 6-point. 6-point on both sides for the 75-series.

Sorry yeah- I didn't look closely enough at the pic and thought I recalled the Britool/Bost version being 6pt 75 copies.

I've got the Facom versions myself:

You have good taste :)

I only knew 'cause I have some of both myself. :D

Are those 97 series straight ones in the lower right corner?

Those are Beta actually -an ebay bargain, but they're seriously beefy. I don't have any tommy bars for them yet though.

I was going to ask how useful you thought these were. I've never really rated them as I thought their advantage using them on long threads was being negated by having to stick the bar right through them.

Those are proper good looking nut drivers.

Although I haven't tried it yet, you could probably use a spanner to turn it as well. I really only did get them because they were dirt cheap though (I think maybe £8 plus shipping from memory), rather than because I might need them. If I can find a use for them though I'll report back with photos :)

Edit: 200lhound beat me to it.

So anybody know why I can't find a German basin wrench? Do they use some other kind of tool for the job?

I use this one from Alarm (Stahlwille Group) in my daily job, perfect tool !
The basin wrench on the pictures is my private one, but if he is available in the States, i don´t know ?

A collection of mostly Stahlwillie, Snap-On and touch of Blue Point. Sorry for picture quality, took a few beers to re-arrange.

long ago already the part of the tool Snap-on is made on Taiwan by Kabo tool's company
katalog in pdf

So Fara, which of the Kabo tools in the Kara catalogue do you mean is the same as Snap-on?

I use this one from Alarm (Stahlwille Group) in my daily job, perfect tool !

What do you use a bassin wrench for? A bassin of course...but whats the deal with such a crow foot? Sorry if it´s a stupid question, plumbing is not my strongest side...:dunno:

Hi Monte, how do you feel that this interchangeble saw is to use compared to normal "fixed handle" saws? (sloppy handle?) The price is quite high here in Denmark, so you could probably buy a complete set of fixed saws for the same money as the complete interchange system costs.
