Wow, I like those old Hazet catalouges way better than the modern flyers...and I'm wondering, in the 50's Hazet had a real cool workbench with full with automotve tools...but not today (page 13/ cataloug 1951)? They also really use the german language and show how sophisticated their tools are (for an example the 6pt. long hollow sockets on page 19).

Yeah Hazet is great...but they really need to rethink about their product line...each year a new screwdriverhandle and the lack of 3/8 and impact tools...

@CanUK. That's a nice surprice. Is that current production?

I'm not sure really. If you run the part number on the RS sticker they show it as a Sykes Pickavant product, but list it as discontinued. Using the SP part number I can find it in the catalogue from their website, but not actually for sale anywhere.

My guess is that it is actually discontinued and Sykes just needs to update the catalogue.

I put it to work today pulling the bearings of the rotor shaft of a bench grinder. Not really stressing it at all, but it's a solid, beefy bit of kit. For £19 shipped I'm very happy :)

How long are the legs on the Sykes Pickavant, 5"? Wonder why they had one leg upside down when they last put it away. Always nice to have quality when you're going to use it more than a few times.

The SP part number is 08280500 and it lists it as 200mm spread and 140mm reach.

Not sure about the one leg being reversed, but it was brand new in a sealed package before I took the photo, so somebody probably just messed up in the assembly/packaging.

Edit: I suppose they maybe packaged it that way to make it obvious that they can be reversed?

The blow moulded case is formed so it should fit both ends the same at each end. The often call these 4 way pullers because you can swap the ends up and down and inside/outside. Your set with both 2 and 3 leg yokes must be an 8 way. :headscrat

Have you any information about FEIN DS 748 ( 42 V), i find only DS 648 data.
Differentions of 220 V and 42 V is only in rotor and stator or ?

I find DS 748 new for 100 EUR, and I need conversion kit for 220 V or transformer,
but on Fein site found information only about Ds 648 :(.
Any explaining about this situation ?

But i don´t know if these machines are 50/60 Hertz or 300 Hz ("High Frequency") like in this catalog:

Need help.

Hi guys,

I need help in finding a new empty toolbox.
40 wrenches, box-end and combination, as a full 1/4"- and 3/8"-ratchet set should fit in it. And Some spare parts like another 1/2" ratchet and a handful impact sockets, too.
It would be great if I find something with quality, like the Gedore 1335L, for less money.
I posted my question in this thread as I am living in Germany.

Kind regards,
Mr MoAizo

Unior is alright and with better price than gedore. I don't know how easy is to find one though.
From discussions over here the hazet are pretty good for less money than Gedore. Other options for toolboxes as good as the Gedore is equally expensive cause of the shipping from Japan.
A few pages back became a discussion about toolboxes, I'll try to find it.

Moin, moin

I like GEDORE but this toolbox is far too expensive, if you don’t have a problem with a used one, take this.

Bundeswehr (German Army) quality, tough and strong !

I don`t think 1335L is large enough to accommodate 40 wrenches + two ratchet sets (comprising ratchets, sockets, extensions, etc.) + a 1/2" ratchet + several impact sockets, not in an orderly fashion, at least.
And how much will the whole stuff weight, are you going to use this toolbox as a stationary or mobile one?
1335L weighs 6.3 kg on its own.
Maybe a plastic/ABS toolbox would be better.

I have never seen 42v before. Is DC? Who uses that?

It is a safe voltage (NOT DC), where he works with a large metal surfaces, due to the risk of electric shock.

MONTE:
I think it's usually 50 Hz motor and uses transformer of 220/42, about 1 KVA power. Only "hochfrequenz" is on angle grinder, here is PELV or SELV.

I can't find any differentions between model 648 and 748 ??

What is your opinion?

Re: Toolbox

Thanks a lot guys!
I really appreciate it!

The Trusco GT-470-B from lok's link (http://www.trusco.co.jp/protool/CatalogDetail.do?spcode=GT470B++++++++++++++++++++++++4600) is plain awesome, but I don't know if someone is selling them in Europe (or even Germany). Do you know s.th. about them guys?

Kind regards
Mr MoAiZo

I make a mistake and I put the same link twice. You can also look for toyo.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2900161&postcount=14206

It's the same but I guess it's also difficult to find one in Europe. If you find one, please let me know.

I think it would be big enough. Here's my Stahlwille which is slightly smaller than the 1335L.

Toolbox

The Toyo looks exactly the same as the Trusco - down to the name.

@marlinspike: Is the toolbox from Stahlwille made in Germany?

I've been through the Unior catalogue. The 912/5 seems good.

Here`s my 1335L before transferring some older tools to another box. It was too heavy with ~15 combined wrenches on the bottom and the rest of the tools.
Your Stahlwille looks much neater, but then again... it must be the owner.

I have no idea where the Stahlwille box is made unfortunately. It looks a lot like the Hazet box, so maybe they come from the same place.
