Got some more new tools over the weekend

Firstly up a Hazet 3417 cup tool for removing cartridge oil filters on some VW group cars, i got this via the parts department at my work, reasonable price too

Wonder if the same filter direct from hazet has a different part number? as it wouldn't have the VW Audi etc logos?











Second is a random selection of Acesa 710 series 1/2 drive sockets bought from ebay, 2x 20mm, 21mm, 22mm and a 1/4 Whitworth all are in great condition, sadly some have engraving/owners marks on them, not to bad though








Really nice sockets though, quite similar in finish to hazet 900 series sockets, would like to get a full set of them, but seems they are no longer made, and a bit obscure over here, I hadn't even heard of the make until someone posted on here a few weeks back :p

Mainly Gedore, carolus and knipex. But you can also find bosh, metabo, makita, Dowidat old stock, some Stahliwille and matadore, athlet, volkel and v-coil, belzer old stock, files from bacho, pullers from kukko, etc. From india and china only a few. I'll try to take some pics next time.

Those Hazet drivers are so damn nice looking. I like my PB Swiss Swiss Grip set of torx. I only bought sizes 20 through 55 or so, but they're great.

Can anybody reccomend me a 75mm 3/8 drive locking extension from an old world manufacturer? Need it for motorcycle spark plug removal where using a regular extension means socket remains attached to the spark plug.

Your Facom 76 Angled Pass Thru Socket Spanners/Wrenches look like they have the same outside profile machining as my older French made ones, but the finish on them is different. From the images I've seen on Ebay France I think the older version of those wrenches had a full polish on the wider sockets on both ends. Facom then switched to a full satin chrome finish on the later French production that was being distributed in the USA by SK Tools. After Stanley bought Facom I've read the production shifted, first to the Czech Republic, then to Taiwan (by Rotar/Toptul?), and then according to GJ member Ultgar to China, at least for the 76s. Those wrenches you have don't say France so they're probably from one of the later "Country Of Origins"/COO, but which one I can't be sure. The other major French tool company that makes that wrench/spanner style is SAM Outillage. Beta Tools of Italy also offers that style of wrench as does Hazet. Both SAM and Beta use a different profile than Facom. MOB Outillage of France also offers that style of Wrench, but their wrenches are produced in Romania from what I understand. The MOB wrenches look like they use the same profile as the Facom wrenches. Those wrenches you have appear to be a mix of 76 series 12/6 point and 75 series 6/6 point. Do they have the series 75 or 76 on them anywhere? The wrenches look like they may be made right so I'd vote later COO rather than fake. Alternately they might be "after hours" production. The "Facon" on the one wrench looks bad but it could just be a diemaker messing up.

Do you have any experience with their tools? I am looking at working on the typical Volkswagen Mark IV era connectors/housings (AMP/TE junior timer connectors ): http://www.passatplus.de/umbauteile/stecker/stecker2.htm

Looks like you can order from their website; also, if you have any other brands or tools that would work for my application, let me know! :) I have been looking at "official" VW and tools by AMP/TE and they are pretty expensive.

I'm not certain, but my understanding is if "inappropriate" images containing "certain types" of content get posted the server fees charged to Garage Journal get far more expensive. The website may also wind up being blocked by filtering software, organizations and/or businesses due to content restrictions.

Sorry billymade i´ve never heard of that company nor i have ever used such tools.... you can buy them from many companies like Hazet, Stahlwille, Schroeder, Herth + Buss or www.mibostahl.com and www.wmtools.de
some people recommend to use paper clips ....i don´t know if that works ??
