OK i have a fair bit to post on here, probably too much to go in one post,

I went to pick up those power tools that i mentioned a week or so ago, and while I was there got to look through the guys shed which he is clearing out, (was his fathers, who died a few years ago, he hasn't got much interest in most of the stuff (which he admits is a bit sad, but there you go) but wants it to go to a good home.

To say it was an Aladdin's cave would be pretty accurate, all sorts of old tools, mainly UK, USA and German made stuff too, and most of it in fantastic condition, a lot of it is woodworking related, but not all (and that interests me a bit anyway)

I will be going back in a month or so as he is keeping stuff for me that i couldn't afford to get this time

Anyway i came home which a lot more than i set out to, mostly power tools, plus some other bits, most of which is old UK and European made

anyway enough rambling, some pics of what i bought

Seems the guy was a fan of Wolf Drills as there are 4 in total, (there is a 60's(?) Cub drill that's not in that picture, and also a circular saw which I am picking up later) this is good as I'm a fan of old UK made wolf power tools (going to start a separate thread on them as i have others from before)

Also there is this German Bosch drill (which is rather well used, need to strip it to see what needs replaced, it also needs a new chuck)

and a newer Blue German made Bosch heat gun, a Japanese Makita drill and grinder,

An orange (70's?) Made in England Black and Decker drill, which i have already stripped and rebuilt to give to my father, by a stroke of luck I managed to source some old orange UK made cable to replace the damaged flex on it (sadly i only had enough to do the drill, I'm keeping an eye out for more to replace the damaged cords on other ones....),

And lastly for now this Italian made Black and Decker power nibbler

It has some heat/flame damage sadly, will be getting a full strip down and rebuild in due course (I will have to remedy the blistering to the plastic),
Interestingly it looks very similar in style to the ELU tools the guy had to,of which some were Italian made (the others were Swiss made), possibly manufactured by the same company?

*there is a 110v Hitachi grinder in there, but its a Malaysian made one.. how did that slip in :p (he has another hes keeping for now that was made in Ireland, didn't realize Hitachi ever made tools there)

some of them need a bit of tlc, couple have damaged cords etc (on a side note if anyone knows of where i can get UK or European made 2 and 3 core flex/cable give me a shout) but in general they have been very well looked after, (a lot of them were previously bought second hand apparently)

Other than whats in this picture I got few other power tools, including an ELU circular saw and a very nice German AEG 110v jig saw but my camera has decided to eat the pictures, I'm going to post some more detailed pics of some of them anyway (plus if anyone wants to see any in particular) so expect more soon.... :pimpflash :p

Black&Decker/Dewalt bought the Elu brand. After the purchase some Elu tools were then sold under the Black&Decker brand and then under the Dewalt brand. Some Black%Decker tools were also sold under the Elu brand. The shear/Snips you have appear to be one of the European designs.

nice it's your key chain collection?:lol_hitti

@bahcoswed
Awesome..Flexi 29 I plan to get a set but prices too expensive for me, so how much you bought it?

found the CW-8 on their site and considered buying one before being a bit more reasonable with a small Ridgid RapidGrip instead... :D
nice, seriously it's really good .. got the pricesssss?
indeed, SunFlag that resells it to any brand that wants it: FPC, Engineer, etc. it's a really good design for my hand so i do not care who makes it as long as it's japanese!
i received the two Engineers after buying a Wiha 4mm Torx kit(T3 to T15) that came with a not-glued-straight extension(second time with this problem on a Wiha extension, first one was with a TorqueVario S 1/4" female adapter that was bend out of the box) and i don't like the Wiha handle: too plasticky and fluffy-like, the Engineer is more solid feeling and works fine with the Wiha bits too, so best of both worlds for my use.
You right!
that a good idea to combine 2 of them:thumbup:
who? me? nah... we're just repurposing our toolboxes and the japanese rats were on the list of nice things to get and try if the opportunity arised.
that a common answers from tools addict  :lol_hitti
stop teasing us with those swiss tips! i'm almost reconsidering my feeble position of "enough flat bladed screwies" for now... :lol_hitti
soryyyyyyyyy!!!!!!! more pics later:evil:

Thank you, guys
My friend sometimes buys for me tools in Japan.
Congratulation you got a very good friend, Japanese girl
And here another Japanese made tools:
1/2" and 3/8" simple ratchets made by Tone.
Awesome simple but beautiful that is Japanese trade mark
btw: thanks to share the pics of your tools, and please post more ;)

mrtools, do you know this guy in KL? looks like it might be worth a try to ask if he may have, in his NOSS(New Old Stahlwille Stock!), one of those luscious green RollBox you've been lusting after for quite some time now, don't you think so? :D:evil:
As I know they have the big hardware shop in KL, but I don't know if he really keep the NOSS  Stalhwille boxs, if they had I'm interested too
you can email and asked them.

My collection of water pump pliers.
Awesome, so which one do you prefer? Knipex or NWS

More Japanese wrenches - Asahi and Tone:
nice

anyway enough rambling, some pics of what i bought
Awesome :shocking:

Thanks, really pleased with what I got
Will get some more posted up soon :D I have been taking some better ones as i clean up the stuff i have

Wolf tool have been through a few hands since the 80's, they were bought up by kango tools (i believe this is the era that my red Wolf 110v grinder came from, which i've had for a few years)

Kango was subsiquantly it was bought up by Atlas-Copco, who later bought AEG and Milwaukee in 2003 they were than sold off to a Hong Kong firm called TI, not sure what happened after that as AEG seems to be german owned again, so i guess TI sold them off, the Wolf name and branding is currently owned by a company called UK home shopping, sadly (though not really surprisingly) the tools that use the old Wolf name are all Chinese and Indian made  (these are the yellow and black ones you often see on ebay etc)

Its a real shame as the old ones are quality items

Found most of the info here: http://www.woodworkforums.com/f13/what-happened-wolf-11867/index3.html

Yes, I would love to get my hands on some of those old 829's with swiss tips.

Those have been out of production for a long time.

I guess I'll get PB Swiss or Witte instead.

Does anybody know if the German companies that make Swiss tip screwdrivers actually make their own blades? Or do they just buy blades from PB Swiss/Baumann and put their own handles on them?

ah thanks !
btw. TTI still owns AEG http://www.ttigroup.com/
Some of the Kango tools are still sold through Milwaukee
http://www.milwaukeetool.co.uk/tools/corded/hammers/
But the Kango factory in England also closed a while ago and the production was outsourced to Germany and later to the Czech Republic. The Milwaukee dude i talked to a while ago said that the Kango factory still was using machines from the 1960´s so they had to close it...

I'm interested with your "translucent red" handles, I means Diagonal cutter + bend nose pliers. So it's a Germany made Belzer or what?

I like the NWS´s a little bit more, but the Cobras are also awesome.

Hazet Releases New (Again) 600 Series Combo (Open Box) Wrenches in FULL CHROME for the North American Market!!!

The chrome isn't as shiny and polished as Armstrong or snappy but not the two tone we're used to.

Photo is Full Chrome on Bottom with some Standard 600 Style Wrenches on Top for Comparison.

Stay Tuned.... More Photos On The Way....

OK

OK

OK

Who smells a rat?

OK, I'll come clean, Hazet isn't making shiny chrome wrenches I just made these look that way, here's the true story....

Bought a set of whitworth wrenches on line through someone else who really bent over backwards for me so I could get these and they turned out to worse than I could see in the photos in the original ad:

I decided to try to get rid of some rust with a vinegar soak which worked it's way under the chrome and really made the chrome peel. The wrenches were uncomfortable to handle now because of the peeling chrome on most of them so there was no turning back.

I wire wheeled 1/2 the chrome off this one in front in a minute or so, it peeled cleanly off.

I'd been through so much to get these dam things I was determined to do what ever I could (short of re-chroming them) to save them as they cost me enough already.

Out of 7 wrenches only 2 were useable in their present condition so I brushed the chrome off the 5 bad ones and buffed them up:

Here's the full set with the 2 I left alone. I'll do them if they start peeling.

I'll wipe them down with an oily rag and keep an eye on them but I'm happy now and will get good use out of my "SPECIAL EDITION FULL CHROME HAZET WRENCHES."
;)

In my territory, there are within a radius of 30 kilometers (18,64 miles) about 10 shops sell the lux or rebranded stuff, but none which has the original NWS.

In my case the "originals" are more valuable.:rocker:

Re: Bahco adjustable wrench

Hello guys,
this thread is going on and on, I can't believe it!
780 pages!

I want to share a tool with you that I use quite regularly - my Bahco 8070 6" adjustable wrench. But as I looked closely at the wrench I did not see a COO.
Does anybody know where they are made?

Here are pictures of it:
http://imageshack.us/a/img23/3256/20130512001.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img339/2371/20130512002.jpg

Kind regards

I'm not 100% sure about that one, but I have the version with the rubber coated handle and it had made in Spain on the packaging (cant remember if the wrench is marked though, will have to look)

Brilliant!
Some of those wrenches are from the early 1950's
The ones with the elongated "L" underline are from 1950-1956.
So you'll have to forgive the peeling chrome.

I see you've got some late model metric 600 series. Have you got an extra 27mm? I'm short that one size to make a full set.
Old 600 series are like hen's teeth out there!
Anybody out there can help?

Looks like that site could prove expensive (the translated into English title made me laugh though.. i have no idea how it got that mangled :lol_hitti)

Some more pictures of old old world power tools from my recent haul :pimpflash

My partner has commandeered this one :p a West German made Black and Decker Palm sander, (so probably Pre 1990 back when B&D made good tools...), its in great condition, don't recall seeing B&D stuff in this color before though.

Next another Black and Decker product, this time a made in England D520 2 speed drill

Not sure when this one dates back to, but my father had a virtualy identical one but in the green/blue colour they used to come in and it was an 80's one, so I guessing this is older, maybe 70's?

love the "for service see yellow pages' on the data sticker

This one needed a bit of tlc, I replaced the power cord as it was damaged, (by luck i had found length of cable at work from a discarded extension lead, that was in the right colour, and even made in England )

other than that all it needed it a good clean up and re-affixed the stickers as they had come adrift, then gave it all a good clean up, the gearbox internals are like new, even the grease was clean, seems they made these really well, unlike a lot of their current products

What I would like to find for it is the secondary handle, and one of those the holders for the chuck key that fix to the power cable (i have looked online and drawn a blank so far, without buying one from America and paying £10 in postage)

This one is going to my father as his old b&d drill was in poor condition, the main drive shaft was bent so the chuck wobbled around (I remember it always being like that as a kid), and it was discarded a few years ago before I thought about fixing power tools

lastly for now is this, which was a real find imho

<a href="http://s727.photobucket.com/user/Ratchet_042/media/Wolfdrill_zps69d53855.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww274/Ratchet_042/Wolfdrill_zps69d53855.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Wolfdrill_zps69d53855.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s727.photobucket.com/user/Ratchet_042/media/Wolfdrill2_zps93101acb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww274/Ratchet_042/Wolfdrill2_zps93101acb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Wolfdrill2_zps93101acb.jpg"/></a>

A two speed Wolf 'super' drill

I'm not entirely sure of the model name and era of this as information about UK made Wolf tools is sadly hard to come by, but from what i have found out so far it dates from the 1960's, This version seems to have replaced the earlier Cub drill which is a bit more well known.

To confuse matters Wolf has used many color schemes, from what i have found out this particular color appears have been used for it's "industrial" line, so this appears to be a industrial variant of of its consumer drills,
(if anyone knows better id love to hear)

I have seen examples of this drill in different colors, often red and cream, like this one:

<a href="http://s727.photobucket.com/user/Ratchet_042/media/T2eC16Vy0E9s2S646tBRWdopm7QQ60_12_zps3155d87c.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww274/Ratchet_042/T2eC16Vy0E9s2S646tBRWdopm7QQ60_12_zps3155d87c.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo T2eC16Vy0E9s2S646tBRWdopm7QQ60_12_zps3155d87c.jpg"/></a>

have also seen them with the cream part in a silver hammered finish instead.

Interestingly the red part is plastic, and on my version its painted blue with the rest of the drill (this is an original color as i have seen others the same)

Its in as great condition, has been really looked after, I'm not sure what the piece of cloth tape with "5/16 whit" is referring to, i was going to remove it but its covering some minor scratches, plus adds to the history i guess

Other than oiling the bearings (it has oil points for that) and replacing the plug with a more era correct UK made one (to be fair it would have probably used the old style round plug originally) its as i got it, works great too, i may give it a strip down to check the grease in the gear box though, and i am on the lookout for the side handle to fit it (seems they are often missing, so may have to machine my own)

Thanks :D will probably have a set of them soon then

Looks like that site could prove expensive (the translated into English title made me laugh though.. i have no idea how it got that mangled :lol_hitti)

no need to thank me, we're trawling the tools section for our next orders on two computers right now...

Some more pictures of old old world power tools from my recent haul :pimpflash

love the "for service see yellow pages' on the data sticker
very nice and thoughtful of them to put that useful advice there. :lol_hitti

lastly for now is this, which was a real find imho

A two speed Wolf 'super' drill

I'm not entirely sure of the model name and era of this as information about UK made Wolf tools is sadly hard to come by, but from what i have found out so far it dates from the 1960's, This version seems to have replaced the earlier Cub drill which is a bit more well known.

To confuse matters Wolf has used many color schemes, from what i have found out this particular color appears have been used for it's "industrial" line, so this appears to be a industrial variant of of its consumer drills,
(if anyone knows better id love to hear)

I have seen examples of this drill in different colors, often red and cream, like this one:

have also seen them with the cream part in a silver hammered finish instead.

Interestingly the red part is plastic, and on my version its painted blue with the rest of the drill (this is an original color as i have seen others the same)

You know i hadn't thought of that, could well be. I will have to find a 5/16 whitworth bolt to try it now

HaFu long L-hex key sets
I know "HaFu" sounds like some Chinese company but they're not!
HaFu is from Breckerfeld,Germany. (The name comes from the initial of the founder Hans Jürgen Fuhrmann as pronounced in German: "Ha" = H, "Fu" = F. Just like Hazet is from Hermann Zerver, "Ha" = H, "Zet" = Z)
HaFu is one of the best, if not the best hex key manufacturer in the world. They OEM for top brands like Hazet and Elora, etc.

This rebranded Connex long L-hex key set is also made by Hafu.

Top quality and still relatively low priced.

Yeah,
I've got this mushrooming collection of hex keys. -metric SAE and torx.
I don't know why I keep buying them, but whenever I see a quality hex key set, I buy it. Whenever I see old tools with "W.Germany" on them, my buying resistance disappears.
I've got 5 HaFu sets, 2 Wiha, 2 Hazet, some loose Elora, Schroeder, Bondhus T-handles, HaFu T-handles, Wiha T-handles. It's all just completely out of control.
:willy_nil:eyecrazy:

I really wonder what I'm doing sometimes :dunno:

Here's a few photos of my hex keys:

There's Wiha, HaFu, Bonhus, Schroeder, Elora, Heyco, Hazet
The Wiha Prostar set is the set which I usually reach for first.

Sadly, I was not able to save the finish on these Heyco XZN and RIBE keys. They rusted like that sitting on the shelf in a hardware store. The Taiwanese climate is not forgiving to chrome plating.

I've got 1/2" Elora and 3/8 Hazet sockets, too.
For some reason, these sockets are one of the few Elora items you can find in Taiwan.

I also scored some new Hazet stuff:
Most of a set of nut drivers:

Some Hazet 603 in inch sizes, these are very hard to come by as they've been out of production for many years.

Hazet end cutting pliers. These will clean up nicely.
Hazet pliers are beautifully made.

check my classifieds, too.
