I see you've got some late model metric 600 series. Have you got an extra 27mm? I'm short that one size to make a full set.
Old 600 series are like hen's teeth out there!

Yeah, I wouldn't want to break up your set.

That set would be the 600/8, which includes 9 11 14 17 19 22 27 32

What strange sets Hazet came up with!
To me, those sizes seem like a random sample!

BTW Are you going to rechrome those whitworth wrenches?

No, sorry. I've never heard of that brand.
They sure do look nice, though.

I have checked and apparently they are a fairly large manufacturer of quality wrenches and gearwrenches.

Keep in mind that a lot of made in Taiwan tools are made for export and OEM, so many never appear in the local market.
When I bought a few Toptul things, it was through a trading company. The manufacturer doesn't even bother with the local market!
Everyone in Taiwan wants to buy made in Japan.

From all the random off brand items you have, I can tell that you are like me. Whenever you see a hardware store, you can't help but go in and look around for hidden treasures. Forgotten old stock that the store owner is more than happy to get rid of.:D

I want to share a tool with you that I use quite regularly - my Bahco 8070 6" adjustable wrench. But as I looked closely at the wrench I did not see a COO.
Does anybody know where they are made?

I don't know much about Rotfuss, but another style of Plier/Wrench they must have been known for, is still manufactured by Elora. On the Elora Website it's listed as the 135- Quick Gripping Pliers, The 135-5BI has bi-material grips. The 135-5MB has bare chrome plated grips that are painted red on the ends.

Bloomer Tool in the USA has them listed as Pipe and Waterpump Plier "Rotfuss" Pattern.

For the 625 series, It is the latter.
The active side is stamped.
All the wrenches are 2 sized. The offsets are the same.

The 625 series are the standard offset double box wrenches. they are offset by about the thickness of one box head and angled at 10 degrees.
Hazet seems to be phasing these out. But since they are the most standard type of box wrench, I suspect that they are preparing to launch a new 625N series some time soon.

The 630 are the deep offeset box wrenches.
The 610N are the short, zero offset box wrenches.

About 20 years ago, Hazet used to make a 635 series double box wrench which was with standard offset like the 625, but short.

Yes, the set is the 600/N8 (maybe N stands for North america) I heard there were different arrangements for different parts of the globe but not sure if it's true. My set is different - 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 17, 19, 22.

Now I don't feel bad that you won't part with it. You don't have the 27 anyway!

My 600 set, so far includes the following sizes:
6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 (27 missing agggh :eyecrazy::willy_nil:gunfire: ) 28 29 30 32.
Having a missing size just drives me nuts!

It's important to have patience when collecting obsolete tools. If I absolutely can't find a 27, I can use a 1-1/6 as a substitute since I do have one and the size happens to be almost exactly the same. (1-1/16 = 26.9875mm)

There is a very well used ex-army 600-27 for sale on German Ebay. I contacted this seller, but he is a bit of a knucklehead. This seller has a zillion ex German army tools for sale, and many of them look interesting, so it's annoying that he can't figure out how to sell internationally...

I just have to be patient and keep looking for a NOS one.

For rechroming, the key factor is your preparation. They need to be absolutely clean.

I know that there is/was a bit manufacturer in the town of Koln, somewhere in the proximity of the main train station, who is making bits especially for other brands.
Can somebody tell me the name of the manufacturer and if it still exists?
Maybe the members of the forum from Germany have some kind of information.

I got 600N off Alx. Comes in new box.
Tray makes it hard to pick up larger sizes as they overlap.
Sizes 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 22mm

Shame it is Euro Metric, missing 12mm for my Nissan.
Debating getting 10,12,14 ratcheting since common Jap sizes.

Looking at Hazet catalogue, US sizes are 600 N A/8-1 < A for American.

Also following metric sets:

Actually if you look at the tools they are the old 600. The "N" only appears on the box and next to the 600, it is after the set #. It is in the old catalogs I have from the 80's that way too. I thought the New wrenches have the stamp right on the wrench after the "600"

I see that a lot here too. If these guys only realized how much more money they'd make selling internationally they would learn. I found my Hazet whitworth wrenches on "Trade Me" in New Zealand. Because of their system I couldn't even sign up on the site and I tried using a fake local address too, just so I could talk to the lister. I ended up appealing to a group on my motorcycle forum to get someone local to help. Several locals responded, purchased and forwarded them to me. It was a lot of extra hassle but I got my wrenches and experienced the generosity + goodwill of people 1/2 way around the world who I only knew on a forum.

SOMEONE HELP Alfajuj get a Hazet 600-27 wrench!!!

I love collecting obsolete tools.
There isn't much sport in collecting present production. You just buy it. Yaaaaawn.
It's much more fun digging and searching for the one you want. There always seems to be at least one size of the the set which eludes you.
so I prefer 600 to 600N, 450 to 450N, and if I'm really feeling masochistic, I can start collecting 635 box wrenches, or better yet, small "a" Hazet tools!!! :lol_hitti
But truly, I can't bring myself to collect 610 zero offset box wrenches. They're just so homely compared to the astonishingly lovely 610N series. What gems they are!
Right now I'm asking on a Dutch market site about a used 600-27. The site is only in Dutch and for some reason, the Google translation doesn't work on this site. All the more fun! I'll translate it sentence by sentence.
I just hope I don't run into another yo-yo who can't figure out how to ship international!!!

today i visited Breger Frères in Luxembourg(linky: *clicky!*) after picking-up some missing Ko-Ken 3/8" sockets at the train station: wow! a shop full of niceties: from the latest Li-ion power tools to NOS Drehmax screwdrivers, industry and shop tools there's quite a lot of wonderful toys made for doing some pretty serious work! :shocking:

i did not shoot anything since i forgot to charge my phone: next time! :dunno:

got a thorough tour of most of the shop in an hour and a half and bought some oldies(pics to follow when charge complete)/ordered some parts for our Makita 6823 drywall screwie. saw some well made Creusen bench grinders and may be picking one next time since they're not that much expensive over quality second-hand ones(btw, Geurt has a thread that i missed about the restoration of his old Creusen there: *clicky!*).

The dutch post charges are real cheapo, compared to our prices here in Denmark (and the distance is the same). A parcel of max. 1 kg. would be DKK 262,- incl. track & trace! That´s 37 Euro...:shocking: I would have offered you to forward the wrench, but with these prices, not a great idea...

Might be worth seeing if you could get it posted to someone in Europe that could forward it to you, though sadly that will mean it costing you more :(


Coincidentally enough I'm also trying to collect a full set of the older hazet 600's (and I'm now after a set of metric 603's after using one that belongs to a workmate, really nice spanners)

I only have 3 so far though, none of which are 27mm sadly (or i would have offered it to you) 9mm, 22mm and 30mm are the sizes i currently have)

Hazet spanners seem fairly scarce here too, (and often have crazy price tags as people think they are worth silly money due to the vintage VW/Porsche connection) though at least mainland Europeans are more likely to send things to the UK , though not guaranteed :sad:
