So awhile back I mentioned I had picked up a large haul of tools from a retired plumber. Well I finally got round to going through everything and taking photos to share with you guys.

I originally spotted the auction as I was after a Record vice (old world, ofcourse) and saw a listing for a Record No. 25, some power tools and assorted hand tools. It had no bids and was only 1 mile up the road, so decided to go for it. Won the auction for a very low price (I was the only bidder ) and went to collect. The guy was 74 and had been a plumber since he was 18, now didn't use his tools and wanted them moving on. They all came in a home made wooden tool box, which he mentioned he built when he first started. Enjoy the pics!

The vice itself is really nice. Strong, been well used but also well looked after. The thing is massive!

Here's the rest of the stuff:

L1040121_zps965ffe78.jpg

500w Black & Decker Drill. Presume this is '70s/'80s? Made in West Germany. Works perfectly.

L1040123_zpsfd958750.jpg

L1040124_zps59779ba3.jpg

550w Black & Deck Circular Saw. Made in West Germany. Works perfectly also!

L1040125_zps2e8677a2.jpg

L1040126_zps5acf161e.jpg

Wolf Drill. This thing is a monster. Unfortunately it doesn't work. Made in England.

L1040127_zps0706db6a.jpg

L1040128_zpsd9d3df55.jpg

Into Aladdin's Cave then!

L1040122_zps1b59b68f.jpg

Here is most of it laid out on the kitchen floor. Don't tell the Mrs!

L1040129_zpsff97d8a7.jpg

Here are some close ups:

Cold chisels and drifts/punches

L1040130_zpsefcf2324.jpg

Spanners - all are BSF or Whitworth. Makes include Garrington, King ****, Lion Brand, VBW, Bedford.

L1040132_zps65fbfbb7.jpg

L1040133_zps00d57d5c.jpg

L1040134_zps6e5edaf7.jpg

Pliers, pipe wrench and wire stripper. Pliers on the right are CK.

L1040135_zps2a8fa423.jpg

Wooden hammers, bradawl and mini-sledge

L1040135_zps2a8fa423.jpg

Tenon saw, various size planes & chisels.

L1040137_zps86a1d536.jpg

More planes and woodworking tools

L1040138_zpsaee91b14.jpg

USM Pop Rivetter (presume US in origin?)

L1040139_zps1c0b0f8d.jpg

Nut drivers, BSF sizes. Socket, extension and adapter are Gedore Germany. Socket is Whitworth.

L1040140_zps17a1771e.jpg

Squares (set & adjustable), solid steel screwdrivers (Does anyone know what these are for? Any particular reason you need a solid screwdriver?), couple of wrenches and a no-name ratchet (3/8).

L1040141_zpsd7113e40.jpg

L1040141_zpsd7113e40.jpg

A collection of files:

L1040142_zpsb36e7967.jpg

Leading/soldering tools (I presume?), chain pipe wrench and some kind of woodworking tool for gouging out chamfered holes (not sure the name)

L1040143_zps566c152b.jpg

Marking out tool, *correction* springs to prevent copper pipe collapsing whilst beinding

L1040144_zps6cf3f3c7.jpg

Hand drills, drill bit box, trowel and board, two wooden dollies (I think?)

L1040145_zpsbf5fe200.jpg

Even the hacksaw is made in Sheffield!

L1040146_zps7c74bc3b.jpg

Very pleased with this lot. I have managed to get quite a few tools from it, as well as the B&D drill & circ saw. I'm planning to part out the rest, as I don't have much use for Whitworth or BSF stuff, and I don't really have the skills to rebuild the Wolf. If any of you guys are interested in something, happy to do trades or whatever.

or this one: *clicky!* less weight and a bit more power.

should be right around the 200.00€ mark once shipped... :)

Thank you

I am going to renew my locking pliers.
Monte posted the beautiful Facom T5.L not long ago... but it is too pricy.
Or can I buy them from another company of Stanley Black & Decker?
I would love to buy locking pliers from Grip-On, because they are epoxi resin coated. But Elora has them only in standard nickel coated.
Can you buy Grip-On in Germany?

Fun fact:
Half of the locking pliers that Elora offers are made by Bollmann (even the revolving punch pliers). The locking pliers that Bollmann does not manufacture are made by Grip-On.
You can read an article (it is in German language) on the Bollmann homepage that says that four big companies in Germany get their locking pliers from Bollmann.

Nice haul Tomassino. Hopefully that Wolf is an easy fix like worn/stuck brushes, poor trigger contact or defective cord.

Just out of curiosity: Who makes the pliers for the automotive sections of Gedore, Hazet, NWS...
For example the valve stem seal plier:
These three look exactly the same, have the same dimension, are made in Germany etc.

Since NWS is s plier company, best guess would be that they do the manufacturing for the other 2.

The belzer is soooo nice. :)

My little collection grew up quite a lot.

They are all very old and most of them have seen a lot of work. They still hold up well, and the chrome has not frayed.

Ι like Their unusual shape.

But I can not find the missing ones. 13, 16, 18 and 19 are missing.

View media item 32063
Dexter TX30 from Wiha (left) and Dexter TX30 from P.R.C. (right). Same price (5€).

same price but not same quality... the "new" Dexters are made out of melted, pre-chewed, chewing-gummish steel!

seen a couple dozens in the return bin in my favorite Leroy-Merlin store in Marseille...

Guess which followed me back home.. :pimpflash

:rocker:

Be gentle with them! Always at your service!
i will, they're too nice to be hammered with even the lightest soft faced dead blow i own so they'll be getting a Thor 03-208 rawhide'n copper faced hammer just for them. should be a good matching set... ;)

2013-08-05-1417.jpg

happy me! :D

nice to see some rebadged Wiha tools !

here are a couple of older Leroy-Merlin branded ones along with the "Dexter" branded one.

2013-08-05-1414.jpg

all of them marked "Made in Germany":

i hope it´s ok as compensation for the wrenches you´ve sent me :)
no.
redface.gif

there's no need for any "compensation" for them 13mm wrenches and you know it!!!
didine79.gif

(beside we haven't finished with those 13mm combowrenches yet! you do have six(maybe even seven ;)) more waiting to make their Hamburg pilgrimage later...)

So i´ll post your tools here: :D

Festool bit set: 6mm hex + groove = "Centrotec":

Fitment is good :)
Danke! they're pretty nice indeed, even for the Aldi-like price...

DON´t worry Cosmik !! i bought everything twice so i actually took pics of my tools  :)

ok except this Gedore bit holder which i didn´t buy twice because i already had the red version :)
do you perchance know if there's a green Reca one too? :D

shaft looks different but it´s safe to say they´re both from Felo: :)

i still prefer the blue one! ;)

oh and the Gedore ratchet because i didn´t see any hints you wanted one
that's because i didn't see it in blue AND 3/8"!

:D ...ok the Festo handle instead but it seems Santa has to deliver it :D
Santa's gonna be busy this year methinks...

;)

I love this Unior pliers. Got them few years ago in a raffle.

looks like we do have the same one and that we got it the same way! :rocker:

See, now I feel like I need to move to Europe! You guys have the best access to all the good brands :( But I think the US has lower prices though.. maybe. Snappy truck tomorrow! (Expecting to default on my school loans because of it :D)

But really, I ordered a Stahlwille 3/4" off Amazon now (Got my refund from some other website that will not be named). Free 2 day shipping with Prime, the item is sold by Amazon.. so that should be like Thursday right? Nope! Pegged for the 16th.. I sure hope it shows up sooner :) I really want to just feel it. And use it of course!

By the way, those are some excellent T-handles you have there :) And more Belzer from some of you, which I don't own any of ;) Yet.

See, now I feel like I need to move to Europe! You guys have the best access to all the good brands :(

except to most *US* brands. try to find some Wright or Nupla stuff over here... :(

But I think the US has lower prices though.. maybe. Snappy truck tomorrow! (Expecting to default on my school loans because of it :D)

except if you only buy truck brands at truck prices or, worse, on truck financing terms... ;)

Open Box 13 or 14? :D
you should do a thread of all your 3/4" wrenches like Monte ought to do for his 13mm collection! ;)

By the way, those are some excellent T-handles you have there :)

best ever! those italians know how to do 'em right! 5mm is, maybe, 40 years old and has heavily worked on bicycles most of his life and the 14mm had a previous life in an agricultural machinery setting where it lost it's original T-handle before i got it...

if you want some good ones, either get the USAGs(also available as Facom-branded) or the Betas(there's a couple of them on amazon.com right now :)) but don't get the Gedore ones: no good! no good!

And more Belzer from some of you, which I don't own any of ;) Yet.

wanna write to Santa 'bout it? :spit:

No. I think HE got well overpriced Taiwanese crimpers sold as KNIPEX.

depends how much he paid for it... ;)

hey! welcome back Phobo!

here some of my latest stuff:

my first 18V Bosch blue stuff:
cgfev6ka9fuvild96.jpg
the GBH 18V-Li is one light and enduring beast(was my first *modern* blue Bosch too), you won't be disappointed by it!
how's that big GDS though? :D

my first QR 1/2" stahlwille ratchet - came together with some sockets and so on

quite a collection of QR rats... :shocking:

thx - by the way have I mentioned that I am starting a new job? :D Whole new field for me -> cnc machining
And best of all the place is full with Garant stuff

good news!

Don't say you got them at the local firefighter's fete. :)

nope. got'em from a raffle after a training session from a bike distributor(along with other stuff like screwdrivers and a pink'n flowery Giro helmet... :wtf:)

So... you 're always one step ahead!

not really, i bought them so that the girls in the club that got SRAM kits without any tools would have quality tools in their race bags and wouldn't be stranded without tools at away races... anyway, thnaks SRAM!

I think you 're looking for an excuse to buy more tools. :lol_hitti
not at all...
redface.gif

The 5.30 € i paid for is expensive compared to French Leroy Merlin?
first one was 7.35€ for me... then the others were marked down to 3€ so price was quite good regarding quality of those drivers...

do you think i *need* a 35mm one too?
rolleyes.gif

BTW, found an old Unitor tool catalog for big boat guys, full of Knipex, Heyco and mostly german stuff! :)

except if you only buy truck brands at truck prices or, worse, on truck financing terms... ;)

Hey now, I only owe him $140 ;)

Open Box 13 or 14? :D
you should do a thread of all your 3/4" wrenches like Monte ought to do for his 13mm collection! ;)

Well I'm pretty sure they don't make SAE sizes for the 14 series. Long pattern iirc. :( So it's open box 13A for me :)
