Hi guys,

I am goint go buy me a new impact drill.
It will be the Metabo SBE 1100 plus. First, I wanted the DUSS SB 13/2 RLE, but it is way more expensive :(

The Metabo has the 'Futuro Top' drill chuck.
Is it possible to fit an SDS plus drill chuck? What are good SDS plus chucks that will fit?

I bought a 25-piece set of Heller HSS-R drills. They are very well made but I can't find the COO on the box. Are they still made in Germany as the allmighty Monte mentioned earlier?

Kind regards,
MoAiZo

I have two sets of offset screwdrivers -both Wiha and Format and both are identical and made in Germany. I've only got a pic of the Format slot version unfortunately but the philips are just as nice:

I haven't looked in a while, but there were sets of these (Wiha) popping up on ebay for cheap - I think I paid £10 shipped for a new set of 5 or 6, slot and philips. I'd like some pozi, but the individual prices are pretty steep.
Hazet looks good too.

I´m afraid that the offset screwdrivers with COO is older. The new ones maybe is made by UNIOR like the new Gedore screwdrivers...

Anyone knows if this pliers are made by NWS? Also check the items of this seller, nice prices and the auctions end in few hours!

The screwdriver with the coo is newer than the others and the only one that I bought new. Only this one has coo. I'll take some pics when i can.

These were great wrenches, the best era for Britool Combination Wrenches in my opinion!

I can't recall when this pattern was introduced, but they were certainly available in the late 1960's! I have a 1974 catalogue which lists this pattern, but I know they switched to a lighter pattern in, I think, the late 70's!

Britool wrenches can be hard to date as they often made two styles in parallel. My 74 catalogue, for example, lists open end wrenches in both 'engineers pattern' and 'slim pattern', the former to be preferred! Combination wrenches were only available in one pattern though!

I have a set of BA wrenches, with exactly the same style of wallet as yours, that my father bought, I think, in 1972!

Thanks! :rocker:

It's even better than I expected! I've really found a rare old treasure! British tools at their best!

I love the style of this pattern of Britool wrenches. They're very hard to come by, so I don't think I'll make life hard for myself by continuing to collect them, but when I see them, I'll buy them.

the Metabo should work too :)

that won´t work. A impact drill like the Metabo and a SDS Plus Rotary hammer drill are completely different tools

Bohrhammer/Rotary hammer drill:

Schlagbohrmaschine/impact/percussion drill:

there are rotary hammers where you can attach a normal chuck for drilling into wood and steel etc. available from Metabo or Bosch e.g.

I bought a 25-piece set of Heller HSS-R drills. They are very well made but I can't find the COO on the box. Are they still made in Germany as the allmighty Monte mentioned earlier?

the carbide tipped drill bits (SDS Plus, SDS Max...) are mostly made in Germany the other bits not.

Anyone knows if this pliers are made by NWS? Also check the items of this seller, nice prices and the auctions end in few hours!

Gedore 21mm socket, chrome is chipping with only very light use (I think I only used it five times).

Spot the difference

They did replace it, but the shop had to send the socket back to the distributor. Unfortunately they don't just exchange broken Gedore tools so you have to wait a while for a new one to arrive...
I think it took about two weeks.

Well, there's one up in my loft.

Don't be a tease :D How much to get it from your loft to the post? :)

I really didn't think I'd find one on here, but then I'm sort of almost not surprised.

Ι think that the exchange is also a matter of the dealer. Some dealers can change the broken one with new, at once. Others should ask first or they mast send the faulty tool to the manufacturer and wait for answer. The authority should be a matter of sales that each distributor makes. (Ι presume!)

One small distributor of beta tools tell me that he should ask first. Another one, immediately changed the broken extractor with new one. He look only if i use it with impact gun and gave me one new.

My gedore dealer, if there is an obvious fault in a tool can change it immediately.

I have more than 60 gedore sockets and no one has chip off.

Now I clearly understand the difference between SDS and non-SDS machines.

I am not mad at the Heller drills, because they work very well. Do you have any clue where they are made? Just out of interest.

Your tips cost me money :)

What Monte said was correct. However if you want to use SDS bits with the Metabo drill, LFA-Amyot sells an SDS Converter Chuck. The chuck has a 1/2"-20 mount so that you could remove the original chuck from the drill and mount the SDS Converter on it for using SDS bits. You might want to call them and confirm if you're interested though. It's pictured on page 12 of the LFA catalog here. http://lfausa.com/2011-LFA-Catalog.pdf

I think you're right. My guess is the dealer won't take the chance that he doesn't gets compensated by Gedore so he checks with them first. A bit annoying for the customer... Another dealer told me Facom always exchanges broken tools immediately. Anyone knows of other manufacturers that do that? Although it seems to depend on your dealer, like you said. Maybe mine isn't that good. :D

I'll take some pictures the next time I see Skandia tools.
The screwdrivers say made in Germany, but I don't know if they're rebranded.

It seems only the screwdrivers are marked "Made in Germany". The wrenches and pliers don't have a COO. Only the Swedish wrench says "Germany."

Also the ratcheting wrench looks exactly like the Proxxon. So must be made in Asia.

The idea looks good.

Do you use LFA chucks? Are they good?
And are they made in the USA? Or are they imported (maybe even from Germany where I can find them)?

LFA is a french company. The chucks i´ve seen (Bosch sells some as replacement chucks) say "Made in France"

LFA is a French company. I believe most items are made in France, but some items may not be. The SDS Converter I mentioned was on a page of the catalog that contains some items that may not be made in France, but I'm not sure, LFA is the only company I've found that manufactures this type of converter.

Thanks guys for the very quick reply! Plain awesome!
I have never heard of LFA Amyot before.

Are there any drawbacks of converting a non-SDS machine to SDS?
The Metabo is brand new and I don't want to destroy it this early :)

I realize wrenches are very popular here. ;)

The good old strong & robust Dowidat No.11, I like them more than the GEDORE 7xl.

Dowidat No.11 vs. Hazet 600n

Went to the hardware store today for some new side cutters, couldn't control myself and came back with this:

Some Gedore pliers and metric box end wrenches

wiwr9d.jpg

Some Gedore 1/2 metric hex sockets and a Gedore 1/2 fine tooth ratchet

ad11xt.jpg

It's my first time seeing a Gedore tool marked with anything other than Germany. All three pliers are marked Austria?

My newest Old School toy - a tiny Stahlwille box with metric sockets size 5 to 13 mm. All 1/4" drive.
It looks like it was hardly ever used.
