Monte... That Fein impact wrench looks awesome.

Why 250NM of torque? I thought it would have more...

I can't remember but I think the Hazet cordless has around 500.

A never used socket wrench set from the mid or early 1980's, which was given to me a long time ago.

Going to Germany, Looking for some tools.

Well it's not really a tool quest. My wife has been bugging me to go on a Viking river cruse so we are leaving on November 2nd for a 15 day ride from Budapest to Amsterdam.

The wife does not know it yet but I am going to escape and look at tools.
But she does want to go to OBI home improvement as we are always doing something around our place and it well be cool to see some nicer euro home products. I want to get a pair of the re badged NWS pliers with the blue handles.

Looking at the Itinerary I believe I will have some free time in Budapest Hungary, Vienna Austria,
Passau Germany, Nuremberg, Wurzburg, and Cologne.

I have been using Google maps to try and find some tool and industrial supply stores.
I don’t speak or read any German so it is difficult even with Google translate. I keep coming up with a mix of some tool place and all sorts of places that have nothing to do with tools.
Also I cant tell if the places that I can find sell to the public or not. Or if they are a store of just sell online?

The big box stores are easy but I want to find the places with the tool walls that I have seen photos of.

I would be great full for any help.

Ron

Hi Ron,
in Vienna you may want to visit the following stores:
Obi www.obi.at
Hornbach www.hornbach.at
Bauhaus www.bauhaus.at
Baumax www.baumax.at
Baumarkt www.baumarkt.at
All of these are combined home-improvement/gardening/tool/hardware shops.

Zgonc www.zgonc.at is a tool store.

All of these will sell to the public. Not speaking german should not be a problem in Austria or Germany, a lot of people speak english.

Regards,
Robert
Vienna, Austria.

Thanks for the links too. I will also be in Deutschland in March, to check out tool stores. The Hazet link is particularly useful, they include web addresses; 16 places within 22 km's of where I will be staying (Mainz). Let alone what will be along the route .

At the moment I have enough boxes for my handtools...but times are changing ! ;)

the compact sized 18 volt impacts have usually around 180 to 280 NM torque (Milwaukee Fuel 280NM, Metabo 210NM, Makita 230NM etc.) I think the Hazet is a bigger gun.

made another Fein impact video :)

That is all for now.

Most of the Hazet above came from Alex of Milcraft tools, his service is EXTREMELY fast. He's a very nice person to deal with, and his prices are great as well.

Some came from Jens, his service is also superb but shipping takes a bit longer.

I highly recommend any and all of the tools pictured above. They have all exceeded my high expectations.

Awsome tool collection man! Wiha for life :) I also like the Thor hammer, I bought one when I was on vacation in England. How do you like the wiha handles compared to the wera and facom?

Thanks! The Wiha are definitely my favourite and the ones I tend to grab (which probably explains why I've ended up with so many).

Thanks Monte. I'm not sure if the silica works or not, but they were cheap so I figured they couldn't hurt to try. I've not had having any problems with rust or condensation since dropping them in there, but I'll let you know if that's still true come next spring -could just be a difference in weather.

I saw an ad online for a Tivoly foldable workbench. Looks good, price is 57.95€. I don't know if they worst something or if a Black&Decker foldable workbench would be better?
Anyone know this brand and product? I made a research on the forum but I don't find any info?

Nice pics CanUK, wish I had a double garage!

Cheers Will. It was my pre-requisite when we bought the house. Unfortunately the house is now getting a bit small and it's a constant battle to stop junk from migrating into the garage. As a result it almost never looks as tidy as that -in fact it's probably become more chaotic just while I've been typing this :eyecrazy:

Hi to all from the Netherlands (Europe),

I recently started reading this thread and I'm still on page 60... but I figured out I have a lot of old German tools laying around, because my father in law gave me a part of his toolcollection (he worked in the docks/ship manufacturing).
Well, to start with some old handtools from mostly German brands, here are some pics:

...wrenches, sockets are from Kraftwerk and Amprotools (maybe later some pics). Not high-end stuff yet.

Well, this is enough (for now)...

I also have some old Fein electric tools, Heuer vice and so on... but I'll post that later if anyone's interested ;)

Welcome to the forum dutch79 and thanks for the pics. I have a Heuer 100 myself. Awesome vise.

Bhae, thanks for the pics. Out of curiosity, what do you charge for the Snap-on ratchet pictured?

Someone that is able to supply some info about the brands I posted on the previous page?
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3476772&postcount=17319

I'm not familiar with these brands of some of my tools:
Varo, Whippet, Teroson, Mabo, Martor, Schneider+Klein.

edit:
Varo (started in Belgium): http://www.varo.com/2841/0/history.aspx
Whippet: found something about Whippet. Here it says it's a Atkins saw from '35:
http://swingleydev.com/archive/get.php?message_id=156691&submit_thread=1
It's a pretty cool saw actually :)

Teroson: Brand of Henkel group (German): http://www.henkel.com/index.htm
Mabo: Now Stanley, I read somewhere
Martor: German from WWII: http://www.martor.com/about-us.html?&L=18
Schneider+Klein: German from '51: http://www.schneider-und-klein.de/suki/EN/unternehmen/geschichte.htm

I just bought these off of ebay -about 20 packets, so a couple for each drawer. I forget how much they cost but it wasn't much.

Very nice! Is the dial plastic or black metal? (I'm guessing metal but it's hard to tell in the photo).
