i think you made a good decisionWhen I decided to buy insulated screwdrivers initially found in the market these options: HKR, Stanley, EGA and Toptul.
Stanley and Toptul dismissed by Taiwanese origin (not because they are bad, in fact they have other very good Taiwanese Stanley screwdrivers) and between Ega and HKR chose the latter.
Then in my quest to complete my set, I came across other brands Tulmex, Irazola and another I can not remember now, and even an old Stanley sotck model (older models are my weakness, I maybe buy a pair for my small collection) .
The Wiha, Elora, Wera, etc.. Brands regularly mentioned in the forum are not around here, at least not in the common market.

The Ega Master drivers look taiwanese too..... Irazola would be my second choice.

it´s now called FMM350Q so it seems it has now 350 Watt power instead of 250 Watt. The new one has up to 19.500rpm, the old one 20.000rpm the new one has a amplitude of 1.7 and the old one 1.6 degree. The tool also has a constant electronic feature now it seems. Price seems to be the same, so you get more power for the same price. Same power now like the big Bosch machine, very good price/performance ratio it seems. Time to buy one
It will be first displayed at a woodworking exhibition in Nuremberg by the end of march so i guess the official sales will start in april (?)

Yes! At last I passed the final apprenticeship examination for the profession of precision machinist! Also got a new job and I am introduced on a CNC machining center for the next six months.
And now some new, old tools:
Not a beautiful, capitalistic, glossy, shiny tool! But strong like bull!
They have already seen service in war! But all of them are still working. 8 mm up to 32 mm
Made in Poland!
I repaired the simple socket wrench, 32 teeth, but you have to take care not to push the lever too much! So I marked the positions with a center punch, otherwise the ratchet inside will block
Also got this new socket wrench from Atorn at a discount. Clearing stocks or something.
Improvised box for set of sockets.

Congrats, Toolman, both to the exam and the job and tools. The only polish made tool i own is a "VIS" vernier caliper, very nice tool in fact. Smooth operation, and not "heavy eastern Europe" at all. But for your sockets, the 8 to 13 mm may give some access trouble due to the conical style?

Well, I was thinking about picking up a Multimaster soon, but I guess I'll wait for the new and improved (more power!) model.... Unless I stumble across a screaming deal! The GF has some wooden furniture that was left on the deck all winter that I'm gonna refinish...
Question on the Fein drill... The batteries are interchangeable (not differing between countries/continents), right? So if I can somehow buy a tool from Europe, I can recharge them on an American charge, yeah?

Thx mate! But for now I cannot say if the conical style will give me trouble. If they do so, I still got my small 1/4" socket wrench set.
Or maybe I just buy some extra sockets. Or use my box spanners
BTW: and this is the CNC machining center I work with. With Heidenhain numerical control

They want to close the swiss power tool factory until 2016 and move production to hungary. 330 jobs (of 625) will be lost. 320 new workplaces will be generated in hungary, the engineering of their wood working tools will move to germany since a "economic manufacturing" of power tools for wood working and surface finish is no longer possible in switzerland says Bosch because of the exchange rate and the price pressure of cheaper competitors.

Of course, their choice...but i don´t buy the exchange rate story. Multinational companies can lay their exchange rates nearly as they want, in order to pay less tax etc. (lay the profit in low tax countries). The major oil companies here in Denmark paid zero tax for many years - and Nestlé coffee/chocolate giant - zero tax in Denmark. A subject often discussed up to government level... So Bosch has a choice too. They could start a "Swiss made" campaign, like DeWalts "Made in the USA" campaign. I would definately buy more Bosch, if they were producing more stuff in Germany or Switzerland. But thats just me. Love my malaysian 10,8 V Li-Ion tools though...so it´s not a matter of quality, just of doing the right thing.

I've seen these sets, more or less complete, from time to time on eBay.
I bought it, not for the socket wrench, but for the sockets itself.
First, I'm not willing to spend a lot of bucks for new sockets from Gedore or Hazet if I don't need them everyday.
Second, I like old tools and when they're doing their job, why don't use them?
And yes, they're not just made like a tank, they're heavy, too! In Poland, socket breaks you!
BTW: I got the original box for the sockets, too. But I don't have any use for it. Any ideas? Don't have the time to restore it or something...

Keep it. You can't find metallic boxes any more. All the new sockets sets come in plastic boxes or metallic box with foam or plastic tray.
I have never found them in ebay? What words did you use for search?

To be honest, I didn't use any specific key words. I just search with words like socket wrench or ratchet (or in German Umschaltknarre, Ratsche or Knarrenkasten) and sometimes there are old tools in the list. It's just luck. And I'm sure there were some of these Polish sockets from time to time.

i´m with you....maybe they don´t want to do that because of the bad image they would get if they would be mentioned together with other companies who pay zero taxes like Amazon or Google.....or maybe it´s even simpler - hungarian employees are cheaper than swiss....(Hungary: minimum wage 327.-€ per month, Germany 8,50/hour (in 2015)....and in switzerland they just discuss a minimum wage of 18.-€ per hour (!!!))
There are a couple of 10,8 Volt tools on my wish list which aren´t made here anyway but then that´s it with Bosch for me....
i´ve only seen the orange/black tools there. However they now offer a "Basic" line which almost looks like they´re uncoated (??)

It looks a lot like the Koken, yes. The Beta also has 24 teeth, but maybe that's common for this size 3/8" ratchet.

it doesn't just look like a Ko-ken, it's a Beta-branded Ko-ken model made by Ko-ken, like a lot of Beta high end socketry offering(and the same is true for some of SAM sockets)...
the folks at Beta France checked the CoO on some items while i was there and it's, of course, Japan!
the 42 wrenches were still from Italy though and that seems to be in line with the video about their production that Monte posted a while back.

Thanks to a tip from CanUK in the UK Hot Deals thread I'm now the proud owner of this used Koken 3/8" e-torx set. 4-8,10,12,14,16. The E10 has some minor impact marks and some chrome flaking on the top and the E8 also has some chrome flaking on top, to a lesser extent.
But still, all are in very good condition.

How did this happen? Is this a deep cut or just a photo trick?
It' is old, more than 10 years for sure. That handle is old and the ratchet design is different. The direction selector is different and all the section around him.
Since then the handle has change twice. First to all black but without the grooves and then to two component handle (last year).
I take a look at the catalog of 2004 and all the ratchet are newer than yours. New design newer handle. A few years before 2004 the ratchets had the old design with the newer handle. So I presume 15 years old or more.
If this is a deep cut you can change that ratchet with a new one. Gedore does not offer replacment handles.

yep and the box style is older but i have no idea how old,and yes,its a deep crack on the handle,i dont mind it,i will put a new handle,ill use one from the gedore's screwdriver or some other screwdriver...and how it happen,well it was a factory mistake or it used to sit on the sun,dude said they got it for around 20 yrs but i think he is joking lol
