Since most of my tools are "old world" origin I will post some pictures.

First out my srewdrivers. I replce them quite often since there's nothing worse than worn screwdrivers, especially PH and PZ.

I really like these Facom,

I love how Facom color-codes the handles for the different profile.

Norbar have a large factory in Banbury in England, I assume that is where this model is made ? You can certainly find their fixed rate torque wrenches in places like the BMW engine factory at Hams Halls in Oxford.
Their automotive wrenches are often re-branded for other companies to sell.

I believe Halfords and I think also Beta are re-branded Norbar (which makes the Halfords version a great value when on sale).

hello everybody, it's been a few months since i last came here and posted crappy pics. those months were horrendous and terrible. there is no lessening of the pain, not even after almost nine months, there is no way out of this for me: i can try to hide it or try to forget it's there but it's of no help, it's getting worse every passing day. can't think straight, forget to shower for days or weeks at a time, no appetite for anything, cut down on coffee and tea not by choice but because it's too complicated to make when you forgot that you've left some boiling water on the stove for the last two or three hours, cannot work much anymore because i start feeling brain-numb and can't bother to continue doing what i started. can't find words to type most of the time, can't be bothered to take pics nor do simple tasks like renewing my ID card(been on the table for eight months now: pixes, prints, docs, whatever they need to issue a new one), won't even try to get behind the wheel of a motorized vehicle in fear of killing or maiming someone. can't really sleep too, nightmares abound and if no nightmare, getting out of a dream to the grim reality of her absence is worser than everything else. as i seeing all the places we've been to, the people who knew her or stuff that she would have liked that i buy absentmindedly only to realise too late that she's not here and won't enjoy it.

that's my life now. alone. with the ghost of our love haunting me. good thing i'm alive methinks, it could be worse.

tool related content: didn't even go fetch the Stahlwille Rollmaster i paid. just plain forgot about it for months and months after wanting one for years and even enlisting Muriel in the search for most of that time...

ps. won't bother with shrinks, they're useless when you know all the tricks in their bag(s) and almost criminal when they spout that slimy fake empathy.
pps. thnaks again to everyone that sent me a PM, some i answered some i could not, not because i didn't want to but because i couldn't find words even simple ones. sorry. especially Franz, i'm trying. it's hard. sorry.
ppps. i'll try to sell/give away lots of stuff in the coming months if i feel well enough to do it. so don't be surprised if unanounced stuff arrives on your doorstep or if i politely ask for a postal address.

sorry for any mispellings, non-words, verbifications and syntaxic/grammatical errors and everything else that has gone haywire, including but not limited to all the faked funny posts and the off-topicky stuff and the no-show promised pixes or replies and this lame post. sorry again.

"i couldn't find words even simple ones. sorry."

Hi Cosmik. Those words were my mindset when I read of your loss. I wouldn't know what to say without it sounding like a cliche or presumptuous. I'll say something now. I read many posts on this forum and find that your enthusiasm and passion really stands out (your nick and avatar makes me smile). All I can say to you is, keep on plodding forward. I am sure your missus would want only good things for you - and to keep on going no matter what. Be here for her.

Cosmik,

You don't owe me an apology, I will always be here for you.
I have been concerned as I feared you were in a dark space. Please try to hang in there.
If there is anything at all that you need, please let me know.

I have been around others who have been deeply affected by personal loss, I try to understand but I don't think you do until you are in this situation yourself.

I think a long bike ride is in order. I will send some positive thoughts your way.

Yes, I've seen Halfords branded Norbars and at a very good price too. The striped plastic handle design, in various colours, is very distinctive. I feel sorry for those who pay more for vastly inferior Chinese torque wrenches. Ebay UK is also a good source of new Norbars.
I've also seen a well known German brand selling them with a 'Germany' sticker on !
You can also find them in Japan.

Torque tester at the Wiha booth where you could test how much torque you could apply with different PH2 drivers. (Wiha wood handle, PB Swiss, Wera 300, Wiha SoftFinish, Wiha MicroFinish)

And the results...? :eyecrazy:

I love how Facom color-codes the handles for the different profile.
Pb swiss does that with some of their drivers(swissgrip or rainbow). However, I prefer the Facom drivers. I haven't tried the new ergotwist Handle. The old Handles made by bost are my favorite

I visited a electricians/plumbers fair last weekend.
Some pics: (part 1)

Rothenberger www.Rothenberger.com

That Rothenberger mini-core drill is actually manufactured by Baier. It's a very handy tool for drilling in tile to hang fixtures. If you use a rotary hammer or impact drill, then you know just how easy it is to crack the tile doing that type of work.
The self-contained water supply is very handy.
The bits have a quick-release adapter. (After each hole, you need to remove the bit and push out the core of material stuck inside.)
They also have drilling guide/slurry collector which sticks to the wall by suction cups. (with a core bit, it's really hard to start the hole exactly where you want it without a quide)

As far as I know, Only Baier and Eibenstock make this type of tool.
(There are also core bits which fit to an angle grinder, but these are not nearly as nice to use.)

Wiha wood handle 3,x something Newtonmeters, PB Swiss 4,x Wera 5,3x (iirc), Wiha SoftFinish 5,85 (iirc) and Wiha MicroFinish 8,35 NM

That's why I love my wiha screwdrivers, because you can really put some torque on them. Only thing I didn't expect is the fact you can put more torque on the microfinish than on the softfinish, never would have thought that
I once tried the microfinish at my local Hornbach, but I din't really like it because I thought you couldn't get any torque on them and they left a lot of those microfinish black stuff on my hands. Maybe I have to take a look at them once more ;)

I honestly don't know what to write. I just want to express my deepest sympathy, and hopes that you will make it out of this sooner rather than later. Because one day you will. You will still miss her, and grieve, but life will get a purpose again. Don't bother with professionals if you're not comfortable with it, but talk to people. That you managed to get here and write is strong. And our empathy is real.

Best wishes
Erik

Did you test the slimvario handle? The PH2 bit says max 5.5Nm, wonder what happens if you apply more.
no, only the ones mentioned above. But for heavy duty tasks i would choose fixed blade drivers...

a tool like that would be state of the art but maybe for DIY use a bit too much. :) At least in the videos the angle grinder core drills seem to work and there are also core drills for drills (some with dry coolant coated diamonds (?) from Bosch iirc). Bluetec also offers such a small core drill (but without water canister)

That's why I love my wiha screwdrivers, because you can really put some torque on them. Only thing I didn't expect is the fact you can put more torque on the microfinish than on the softfinish, never would have thought that

i think because of the sandpaper type of finish you can apply more torque (won´t slip in your hands so easily). ps: Happy shopping @ Hornbach ;)

How do you avoid rust on your Erem tools? I need to rub mine in oil after each time I work with mine. If I don't do it, it takes a couple of days to see first signs of rust.

Also, how do you manage to keep handles so clean? Material used for handles has thousands of small holes where dirt accumulates. I have not yet found a way how to properly clean those handles.

I store mine in a wood cigar box. No rust issues, and I live in a very humid climate.

ESD mat cleaner, such as Rezstore will work, as will plain old isopropyl alcohol (IPA). This will preserve the ESD dissipative properties in the grips as well as clean them.

May not get to brand new appearance, especially if you can't get into the cracks and crevices, but it will make a noticeable difference.

Well, the USAG 280T t-handles are apparently the same as these Facoms. Both made in Italy. Not sure the old ones are more reliable if by that you mean higher quality.
I personally like burnished tips more than cr/va ones.

Easy. You don't use them.
That's right:bounce:Those two foam grip ones are new.

My erem cutters always rust quickly:sad: , faster than any other electronic I own. The 2476tx1 in the photo rusted after a month.
