8-19mm Ratcheting Wrench set + 3 socket adapters. This is my intro to Hazet wrenches and i must say i like them a lot. Despite the look the texture is actually "soft". I'll absolutely be giving their basic combos a try. Note these are not "servicable" like the Gedore ratcheting wrenches (which really can only be lubricated) but honestly i've never had a ratcheting wrench fail on me yet, from GW to Snap-On, so i dont expect these to be any different. Price $280.00US. Set number 163-186/16. Note, for some reason this set was actually cheaper than just the wrenches sold in a plastic tray.

Oil Filter Wrench. Im on a quest to find a perfect one for small filters and this was next up. It was very expensive compared to Lisle brand ones but if it works, it will be worth it. I like the design, the nut on the back can be used in combination with a socket or wrench or the nut can be pulled free revealing a female drive end for a breaker or ratchet. Its also reversible. Cost $80.00 US, part number 2172.

Again self explanatory, just a small pair of side cutters. Hazet calls this particular cutting end "Swedish style". Well formed and they feel very comfy. $24.00 US Part 1803M-11.

Bent needle nose "snipe" plier. Same as the side cutters well formed and comfortable. $31.00 US Part 1841M B-33.

Last but not least, Hazet isnt really well known for its ratchets but their newest developments are these round head fine tooth models with the reverse levers recessed into the head. Very smooth action. Decided to pick-up a 1/4". They also have a 1/2" model available and will have a 3/8" model coming toward the end of the year. Due to the size of the head its not really great as far as being super compact but its a really nice ratchet none the less especially when working with low torque fasteners you really dont want to break due to being about the length of a finger. Price $46.00 US Part number 863-1.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking through the current Hazet online catalogue some kudos is due to the company. Everything German made has a logo underneath saying so. The combination ratcheting wrenches do not so are from Taiwan. It's interesting they manage to get the house look finish on the metal for the German brands they supply. (Page 68)

Ever heard of pre-washed/pre-faded jeans ? Those are pre-rusted wrenches.Only an extra 30% for the service. You never have to worry about them rusting !

So are these a popular Christmas gift in Germany ?

i saw them here too though. But the common candy is stollen, gingerbread, wafers, marzipan potatoes, candy apples and of course candied/roasted almonds.

Monte. Was glad to see your old Bosch bench grinder. I have the exact model. Sent it in for repair and it now works fine but does not slow down half as fast as it used to. Has a wire been replaced wrong. I can send photo of wiring to you if needed

My favorite are the old Facom drivers made by Bost and branded SK in these pictures. Too bad they are hard to find in the US or i'd have A lot more!

I have multiple sets of lineman's pliers, and they all have a 0.5mm gap on the gripping part. The cutters are the point of contact, and this is okay IMO. Must be designed like that maybe?

Unfortunately the inner case breaks easily.
I like the old metal case more than the new one but the new is more ergonomic i think.

I think of those pliers as being very good cutting tools firstly. On the pliers with no gap, the cutting surface may wear to the point that it will not cut any longer due to being impeded by the grip surfaces clamping down on eachother.

I feel the gap is left by design. Try your hand at cutting 3/16" steel wire multiple times with the Knipex. And then try with Stanley, and let us know the result. :)
