C'mon man. Seek out a better quality linesman pliers. You don't want interlocking teeth.

This attachment thingey with roll front door looks good too.
For that 60 lbs sledge hammer that won't fit in a drawer.

Thanks for the tip, yes they look good but they seem to be very expensive. For almost the same price I can buy Beta packed with Beta tools or an empty Facom. :wtf:

EDIT: to me it seems that Beta has a campaign on their boxes and that is what makes them so interesting vs. the Facom right now.

I had this stack:

I paid something over £1000 for it (having bought the top box slightly used). It was OK, but I wouldn't say it was exceptional. I sold it, and then for £1000 I bought a brand new 10-drawer Lista with about 50% more storage (by area) and haven't looked back. The Lista drawers are also 200Kg rated rather than I think about 30Kg for the Beta:

Thanks for your comment.

Yes, Beta is rated to 30-35kgs (70-77lbs) per drawer depending on the drawer. But, I don't think I can fit much more tools to those drawers. At least my tools, they are std car tools so nothing huge or heavy stuff.

How did you like the slides/tracks or whatever they are called?

Lista is not available at my location. And the XL Beta is still ~2x cheaper than the cheapest S-O. And its the current pricing what makes it interesting. For the normal price - I wouldn't consider it.

But, I haven't made up my mind at all yet. I have to go and have a look at it myself. If its decent I might get 2, one for my office too. But, if its not as good as my current Kamasa I won't buy any. I once bought a low quality one and try not to make that mistake again.

The slides seemed average/OK, but not at all remarkable (the looks/design if anything give the Beta a slight edge over similar products). The sheet metal is not particularly thick, but then again probably on par with others in the price range. On a wider box I'd expect the drawer-bottoms to deflect a bit when loaded - they did some on the standard width box so assuming the same sheet metal and a wider span...

If your Kamasa is serving it's purpose then I probably wouldn't bother. There's nothing wrong with it, but once the new-toy excitement wears off you might wonder why you spent the money.

Kamasa is fine, its just too small. Not planning to change it just to get something new but I really need more space. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks Monte. I am trying to get hold of a wiring diagram for this model in any case. The model is apparently a 0 601 961 032. I always had the impression that it was slowing down with an electromagnetic brake where the polarity of the magnetic field is reversed when the switch is turned to Off. The bearings did not turn out to be too bad after removal.

I Love Facom Tools but how or what do you find that needs this special wrench and are they hollow on the long end as well?

Thanks :)

Not hollow all the way through on the long end but recessed. The 10mm I can see using for screw and locknut valve adjustments on certain motorcycles. Another use I can see for these would be something with long threads. Break it free then flip it over to quickly remove, similar to a "L" Hex key wrench.

That was my dilemma also, I could have gotten a complete set for cheap but decided not to do it because I can't seem to tie them to any specific application.

Come on this is GJ! we don't buy tools for applications! We buy them because we don't have them.

Typical new age Snap-on Corporate silliness.
No COO stamping on either the driver or packaging.
I assume Spain.

A little marked up. I am a little unhappy.
Still great pliers though.

Finally I bought this thinking it was a Wiha.
I got this instead.

Couple of big boys...

Gedore 14mm screwdriver/chisel with pound cap. Like many screwdrivers these days it's not actually made in Germany :(

The Elora 32mm spanner was bought many years ago to undo viscous couplings on my BMWs.
The Elora 30mm socket was found in the engine bay of a used car I bought

Talking of Elora how come they never get much of a mention on this forum by German tool experten ? They are a traditional family owned business making a wide range of tools in Germany. In the UK they are distributed by Draper, one of the largest tool importers, so they must have significant sales.

http://elora.de/site/en/start.php

Stahlwille have a specific UK catalogue with prices in Sterling. They must have enough sales in Aerospace and Industry to justify printing the large tome. I've just got a 80 teeth 3/8th ratchet from them which is very smooth. Model 435 QR N

I don't buy it.On a bolt that size you would more likely just ruin the screwdriver.I've seen holes like that also on smaller sockets with tiny holes usually only on one side so you can't put anything all the way through both walls.

There is only one hole, it lines up with the ball

My larger French made Facom sockets don't have it.

I have several 1/2" drive sockets which have the hole. All of them from '70s or '80s. I think its for the detent ball. There are no dents inside on each side for the ball, only the one hole on one side. So you must insert the socket always oriented the same. Hmmm... maybe it there to allow access to the ball if it gets stuck? You take a punch and strike it to release the ball?

Ps. I think all my impact sockets also have the hole (?).
