Got this Metabo WEV 10-125 Quick last week. The market is flooded with angle grinders so it took some time to make a decision.
I discounted models made in China. Most of the strip down videos on Youtube seem to show signs of cost cutting and/or small construction faux pas regardless of brand !

I also wanted vari-speed.

Makita make some models in Japan and the UK. The UK factory employs 300.

The vari-speed Fein models were to expensive so I settled on the German made 125mm Metabo. Runs 2800 rpm to 10500 rpm. The only downside is this option costs the same as the fixed speed 11,000 rpm Metabo with 25% more power. The warranty is 3 years.

This is my new Stahlwille 504/24 Breaker Bar in 1/2"-24"...

It was hard to find a 1/2" Breaker Bar with a lenght of 24" or more here in Switzerland. Hazet offers only max. 18" and Gedore has just an 15" Breaker Bar. I found a long Flex Head Ratchet from Gedore also in 24", but without locking function for the Ratchet Head.

The Handle (Steel Part) has a Diameter of 15mm.

22043591is.jpg

The 24" Version uses a Black Torx Screw full threaded. The 15" and 18" Versions use a white Screw instead, that just has a thread at the end of the Screw (Middle of Screw is blank).

22043593su.jpg

35mm Diameter at the Head.

Nice tight Fit! But no Ball Joint...

I can imagine it misses the ball joint by a reason! 24 inch breaker bar is bad *** and its probably stronger without a balljoint in the middle! Correct me please, just guessing:)

That was made before B&D quit making quality tools. It's as good as it gets. Their "industrial" tool line was always tops.

According to the Stahlwille leaflet you have the updated version introduced in the 2014 model year. Very nice.

Hey Guys,

Does any one have a photo of a Heuer 120 or 140 vise they can post showing the size of it? Need something showing scale before I purchase one. Weight wise there is quite a difference in the 2 vises with the 120 weighing 9 kg and the 140 tipping the scales at 16 kg.

Just don't want to get one that ends up being too large.

Cheers

its difficult to explain :) I meant a spring loaded Ball in the Head, and a small groove i the movable joint. In certain angles the spring loaded Ball gets pushed in the groove, and the Joint gets fixed. Some KoKen Breaker Bar's uses this system.

I have an Armstrong breaker that is like that. There are detents that keep the male drive in one of 5 different positions.

This is a Heuer 140. The ratchet is a 1/4" and is 12cm long.

Total length is 52 cm and the handle is 27 cm long.

If you want anything else to know, feel free to ask.

I thought this may be what you meant, I really prefer breaker bars and flex ratchets that don't have that, it seems to want to keep it in just the wrong position most of the time.

Just visited a local tool store, they had quite a lot of NOS tools from heyco and bahco among others, everything was well organized and the selection was great.

I just love places like that.

Came home with some spare parts for my festool plunge cut saw and some other neat stuff:

A heyco screwdriver that had been sitting on the shelf for who knows how long and a pastorino 1/4" T-handle socket wrench.

Monte - do you know of any German or European made Mechanic tool sets? I'm looking for something different besides snap on for when I go to auto tech school. A full set with a box would be nice.

I doubt it. Facom say 60% of tools are manufactured in their 4 French and European plants.

http://www.facom.com/uk/our-brand/Excellence.html

Plus suppliers like Dolex are French made

http://www.dolex.fr/outils-serrage/pinces-etaux/pinces-etaux-grandes-capacites/

yea that's what facom says, but its more about what you'll get in the set, here is one of ther sets for exhample, its 107 pc set for $1500

facom 440 - taiwan
saw - china
socket set with a sealed ratchet - taiwan
pliers - not sure
flare nut wrenches - taiwan
3/8 parts - taiwan
adjustable wrench - china
measuring tape - china or taiwan
open end wrenches - have no idea

...etc etc

Nice find on the Heyco driver Rune- hammer!

Yes isn't it nice :) There seems to be a few makers that still sell the wood handle ones, felo and elora among others, but heyco has stopped making them I think, they could have been made by another company for Heyco I really have no clue.

I've been finding a few new old stock screwdrivers made in West Germany lately, I really like the red PH3 wiha, that thing feels hefty!

Wiha actually still offer these, you can order them from their website, but they don't get the publicity that their soft handle drivers do!

I bought a set of torx to go with a machine I was installing and was really impressed!

The handle shape is very similar to the old Snap On square handles, which I quite like!

Well look at that, I think that the ones they sell now does not have the same print with made in West Germany on them though, the green Heyco ones still has it,wonder if it could be that they still are selling the old ones or if they just have not bothered to update the machinery.

The green heycos still seems to be sold in different configurations all with the text W. GERMANY which I think is a bit funny considering it is about 26 years since the fall of the Berlin wall.

Hazet sell German made wooden handle screwdrivers. Not cheap though in the larger sizes

http://www.tbs-aachen.de/screwdrivers_c2701.htm

Yes they are quite expensive, the one I bought was listed for 20 euro, I would not have bought it for that, but I got a nice discount since I bought some other stuff as well.

These made by Wiha seem more competitively priced:

I really like that Heyco!

Is there anyone selling them online?

I wouldn't mind picking one up!

The green one?

They seem to be called Heyco 60138, although the model number on them is 25-08, if you google around a bit I'm sure you'll find some for sale. Expect to pay around 10 euro for them, if you pay a lot more you are being ripped off :)

I do not think that the place I bought them from will ship to your country so I can not give you any actual links.
