Gedore 2093 U-20 must have 40 teeth because return angle are 9 degrees(on Gedore site) so 360:9=40 teeth, stahlwille must have 4.5 angle degrees.I have Stahlville 411 and the plastic handle are very slippery in oily or dirty environment.Maybe next week i will buy gedore because i like it more the flat handle hope not so slippery like stahlwille, the only doubt is that I do not know if COO of Gedore 2093 U-20 is germany if someone can confirm this?
I think that 40 teeth might not be enough in tight clearances. Is 40 teeth/ 9 degree enough in 1/4 drive when wrenching in limited spaces.

I am asking because I have no much experience, I mostly use 3/8 on car.

Hi Monte and all,
I have discussed this topic of quality of tools with wholesaler and supplier of the main German tools,
Maybe your dealers can share some hints which tools to avoid and which not :)

Hi Monte,

I will try and ask this, however they refrain for making specific claims for business purposes, I suppose.

I have also realised that if some shop stops selling a brand that Means there is a problem with that brand.

Also if it is an expensive tool then I really ask quite a bit before buying, for a few Euro I think they won't spent much time answering my questions[emoji16]

Fiskars saw for their long reach pruners:

Good Fiskars saw

New tools from Ko-ken.
1/4" metric sockets Z-series, 3/8" ratchet Z-series, 1/2" 19mm wheel nuts, 1/2" spin handle.

The normal Ko-ken series is top-notch, but the Z-series is simply outstanding.
I have never worked with better tools. Wow.

Seldom used Sandvik-Belzer 1/2" ergo ratchet.

Very clever in design.

Still looking for the Heyco ratchets though.

Nice find, Sandvik - Belzer

I think even 20 teeth is enough ,now i decided to buy HAZET 863k which is 20 teeth and 18 degree and 95mm length,i buy it for the small size and not for the angle degree.Mostly working place on car i find is more confortable have a small ratchet than have a little angle degree, i mean on 1/4 on ratchet.Until now i have not found a place so tight to say is necessary a stahlwille 415 qrn 4.5 angle 80 teeth for open a bolt or a torx.Mostly i working on Ford maybe someone that work with several brands with more experience can help you more,i think Monte have more experience

I have the hazet, it's ok, very small but tough

That gedore has indeed almost no backdrag , I played with it at TBS store also but I really have too many 1/4 ratchets

That is also true, plus because they sell tools that does not necessarily means they know as much as you about tools[emoji3]
I think most people who are active in this thread know more about tools than many tool dealers:D Because they usually don´t spend their spare time looking up tool brands and searching through forums and comparing tool brands. They usually also only offer 1 or 2 brands of each kind of tool and know about these brands whereas the TFTOW or GJ user knows much more :)

I mostly work on older stuff so space is usually not the problem. In the engine bay there is usually enough space and the small screws on hose clamps or distributor caps etc. could be removed with a coarse ratchet too. Or extensions are used to clear problems... Not everything also has to do with tight spaces (motorcycle, bicycle etc...) so coarse ratchets still have their uses. My tool box is equipped with RHFT ratchets though :)

Very interest hedge timmer:thumbup:
With battery 2.0 or 3.0?
The Stihl hobby range comes with a 1.6AH battery (hedge trimmer/string trimmer) or a 3.2AH battery (blower/chain saw). The professional range comes with batteries in 2.1AH, 4.2AH, 6.3AH, 25.4AH (Backpack) and 31.8AH (Backpack).

A noticeable number of tools in the sign of Stihl this week :)

Hi Monte, I agree but what does it mean TFTOW and RHFT?

Thanks

Thanks Monte

It's an American style that I want.

I'm leaning away from Stanley (not sure on COO) as I currently have one of their "Graphite" claw hammers that is showing signs of stress on the handle.

So far I've found:

I am from the old world I guess, so I should have some stuff laying around in my workshop (mainly woodworking oriented).

Does a workbench count? Made locally some 50-60 years I think.

I am looking for a SAE combined socket set in 1/4'&1/2'. The only one I have found is (from TBS-Aachen) this:

http://www.tbs-aachen.de/Proxxon/so..._1/2_baton_ratchets_65_pieces_i2527_42495.htm

I would like something from a more reputable manufacturer (for sockets).... Suggestions from any European manufacturer, please as american tools are almost unobtainable where I am located. (Sometimes I miss Bowling Green KY, where I spend 4 wonderful years). Facom or Gedore which are easy to obtain here do not have any listed but I think Facom had one sometime ago. Hazet does not either but I would like something in the price range of companies like Unior or Carolus..

Help anyone
It mast be in a single box like the Proxxon in the link above.

Leon - I think you might struggle here. Relatively few European manufacturers offer these mixed drive sets. The majority I've seen over the years have been Taiwanese, and dubious quality. I'm not impressed with the Proxxon I've seen, you can do far better for the money!

Stahlwille offer mixed drive sets, but only in metric!

Have you considered making up your own?

You could acquire the pieces individually, or better still in seperate sets if they were on a good deal (see those from TBS Aachen) then make up your own box from softwood!

I'm doing a lot of work away from home at the mo so have made up my own boxes to suit my needs. They don't need complex joints or anything more than simple woodworking tools, but when varnished with coloured varnish draw quite a few admiring glances!

Alternatively, if you can source a box you like, just make up the tray!

I think I will end up doing something like that i.e. getting two series of 1/2 and 1/4 sockets in SAE, but I will be using foam as the base for a box so I can cut out the appropriate size/place for each socket, ratchet etc. Just going to wait a little (a few days) in case some combined set pops up. Not even King **** have a combined set...Toptul and a few other respectable Taiwanese companies do not have one either.

Bargain purchase from one of the earlier ebay posts/selections decent quality 20 meter metal tape (he has other sizes too) and just one sneaky pic of the even bigger bargain "Jorgensen" ISD3 6" Clamps even though they ate from Taiwan as they are well built lightweight and very versatile, feel free to cut it if it's too off topic

Absolutely fantastic prices on these so I've picked 4off 6", & 2off 36" to compliment the full set of Irwin XP'S I picked up last week. Need some screw clamp reccomendations now to complete the initial mini hobby shop purchases..any suggestions, and why? :)

Yeah I killed them as they were massive and ghe last time I posted full size pics peeps complained so as I realised straight away I killed ghe links till I could resize them but I've had another thought and dummied down my phone camera in the hope that the pics will be correct size, so this one is a test
3f91a8512bad633a4648d78d6464da52.jpg
If this one is successful I will be able to just dum down the camera each time when posting from mobile

Got some German Vogel joiners squares to post too

Nope...FAILED>>>> just made the pic quality **** but just as big ... does GJ not have a standard picture size selector button somewhere?

Picture above is still bigger than usual but I assume better than before.

It is shown good via Tapatalk but on the web the size difference is obvious.
