Seriously, banning Monte shows how disconnected the admins are to the actual forum.

Maybe it's time to start our own forum?

Seems like we're all odd ducks in this *********** of Milwaukee and Gearwrench.

i have only been here for the blink of an eye, and even I know that Monte was a great, helpful, intelligent asset to the community. What can we do to free him from banishment?

Like someone suggested earlier we need to contact the owner of this website and have him review the actions taken. If he was the one to ban Monte then he should reconsider!

Because Ryan won't let user's control their own posts for editing, deleting, etc

Monte is banned? GJ has been going downhill for quite awhile, but this is a new level of stupidity. I won't be returning to this forum again.

Hey just heard that the ban is only on a temporary basis. Monte will just have to abide to the no politics rule.

I can´t belive what i read in here right now, HEY ADMINS!!!!! You know the you made huge mistake right?
Bring Monte back and explain for him what he was doing wrong. But don´t ban him!
This thread with Monte is bigger then you ever could imagine, so it would be wise to bring that fellow back.

We definitely need to speak to the admin. Whatever the reason it could be made right.

With regards to having a new forum is valid point however it does not make up for the injustice.

Let's work this out, GJ is about everyone getting together discuss and learn from other.

If it does not work I have some other ideas.

I agree. GJ is sorta like home and we should be able to work this out.

I think half the problem here is a bit of communication. If it's really true that this is temporary (I hope so). Then the banned status really had an unnecessary fuel on the flames effect.

Perhaps a timeout status would serve better. Also it would be really nice if one of the admins could explain briefly what where and when when they take drastic measures especially when in regards to a sr. and well liked member like monte.

Forums need admins and rules. Mistakes will be made both by members and admins. Communication is paramount to keeping things normal. Right now there is a lot of speculation and questions and frustration.

Monte is one of the reasons I come on Garage Journal.

I'm sure I'm not the only one...

You certainly aren't. Can't wait for a mod to login and shed some light on this. Guessing that will be tomorrow.

I missed the offending post but I have seen plenty of political stuff slip through including slogans in floor slabs cement. I cannot believe a single pic from Monte who is always helping would warrant a permanent banning.

We demand the return of Monte because it is the soul of GJ besides being one of the most know of tools and that brings to the forum his enormous knowledge.

It is totally unthinkable to me that Monte has done anything that deserves to be banned.

I do not know exactly what happened but it does not seem at all interesting.
GJ admins, must devise and not let go easily lose their capital. Anyone who makes a mistake, but how you handle it is very important. Not always the easiest solution be elected!

I was alerted to this news by PM this morning. I was shocked to learn of this, just like many here have already expressed.

I quickly checked Monte's profile page, and unless I'm mistaken, his status shows "member". Thank goodness.

The Monte fiasco was handled poorly IMO. I saw the "offending" post and frankly I didn't even think it was meant to be political, nor did many others based on related posts.

Anyway, a simple a mod post in the thread of "hey guys, keep it out of the political realm" or something along those lines would have been more than sufficient, and it would have let EVERYONE know that GJ is watching and taking notice.

Instead we end up with the **** show this has become.

FREE MONTE!

I'm glad Monte is back. The forum is back to normal.

Now I ask Monte to manifest.

I haven't been on this forum for a while since I have been supper busy with work and doing jobs out of town, just saw that Monte was banned seems over excessive. Seems to me just deleting the post and messaging him about the issue would be good enough. He is a great guy and this is my favorite thread hope he comes back soon.
