Like many I've got an assortment of screwdrivers, Wiha, Witte, Facom France old type, Vessel and PB Swiss. The PB fit Phillips the best and Vessel for any thing Japanese which these days use JIS/PH hybrid screws. The pure JIS standard non-camout has fallen by the wayside .

FWIW, it seems that the Japanese screwdriver manufacturers are now using the same DIN standard that everyone else is using.

I've a few true JIS screwdrivers, but they're the smallest sizes available (used on electronics). They really shine on the tiny screws you find in electronics or watch making (don't cam out on tiny screws as a Philips would).

The Vessel small PH drivers seem standard issue for camera repairers and the like. They do work fine on the older JIS screws without butchering and also on Phillips (the work of the devil)

Miskin, do you own any of these? How is the fitment on Philips screws? From my experience the best on Philips so far is the Vessel. I need to try the Wiha and Witte/ Stahlwille to compare though.

I have PB swiss straight and Pozidriv. The Pozidriv was not as good as the Vessel Pozidriv. The PB swiss straight I have not used long enough to verify that works better than the tapered screwdriver, many people rave about them, I am not sure.

ISO works too, as they're the same standard. The current one is DIN/ISO 8764-1.

FWIW, Phillips screws were designed to cam out, while JIS screws aren't.

The Enduro's had a short sales life with Facom...probably from 2002-2005. The red handle Ergotwist series came before the Enduro's and spanned 8+ years (they're in F96 but not the F92 catalog) and the Protwist that followed the Enduros are still in production today. The only problem with buying an older series tool is that warranty replacements will be from the current production (Protwist) series. SD

I have seen this shop before but never placed an order because of the ecommerce they use that seems to be set up not professionally.

That frame handle looks similar, but not identical to those made by O.M.A.T in Italy. Sold under various brands and according to Monte, sold by Gedore , Würth, Lux, Promat, Forum, Format, Primat, 3 Eichen, Connex, Meister, Circum, Fortis, Stubai, Cimco, Atorn, Hawe, Protec and it seems Bahco all in different colour schemes.

Precision phillips from Wiha. I use ESD version of these at work. Same shape handle but with yellow tops. Prefer these to the thin pico handles as it's easier to apply a little more torque.

Higher priced Stihl saws are still made here and if you hurry up you might still get a "Made in Romania" saw from Makita/Dolmar. They look like this:

I wouldn't worry too much about the plastic if it's done right. Not sure if you've considered them but don't dismiss the battery systems, I got the missus an MSA160T and it performs WAAAAY in excess of my expectations of it. I have a 2-stroke husqvarna and for any lopping, pruning and so on I will always grab the Stihl battery saw, it is simply awesome. Even cutting full logs is no problem if they're not bigger than the bar, and the battery life is surprisingly long. The quoted figures are cutting time, so I found I could easily do 1-2hrs of pruning on a charge, by which time I didn't mind a breather while the battery charged. The battery was ready to go in less time than it took me to have a cuppa. ****** good tool.

I got the hedge trimmer and blower to maximise the battery investment. It's really nice to blow down the verandahs without smelling like exhaust fumes afterward. These battery devices have changed a lot in the last few years, they're now very capable.

I dunno if it´s still german. They also have chinese saws too now. (might be the MSE 141 C-Q though ?).
I don´t know how much plastic there is inside the Husky + Dolmar/Makita but at least there is some metal on the outside . But because of the weight i guess there is a certain quality... I would take a close look at the Dolmar/Makita...What about cordless ? Do you need other tools too ?

Wanted to try PB Swiss to see what all the fuss is about. Precision for work and the 1/4 driver for home use.

First impressions. ESD phillips is a very similar design to the Wiha ESD but smooth and round so does not provide as much grip. There is a lightly textured part below the writing but I don't hold the driver there so not much use for me. Feels plasticy, nothing special.

From looking at pictures I expected the Swiss Grip handle on the 1/4 screwdriver to be hard plastic but it's very grippy feeling rubber. Feels very nice in the hand and is immaculately finished. Very impressed with the quality. Almost too nice to get dirty.

I think I'm going to visit a couple of specialist dealers regarding the chainsaw. I'm a bit out of touch with garden tools that look like something out of F1. With Stihl larger models it's dealer hand-over only with instruction.
