Is anyone familiar with the Adam Tool Company? I recently found these German-made 200mm needlenose (“radio”) pliers.
I assume they were made sometime after the Wende, because they just say “Germany.”
The handles seem comfortable enough but their design currently unfashionable: hard green plastic with a firm hip ridge. They say “1000V” but do not carry the VDE - GS mark, which leads me to think maybe Adam Tool Co. was American.
They have a couple interesting features. First, the matte charcoal finish is almost soft-touch.
Second, the joint is single, not lapped like most German needlenose pliers.
Among German tool makers I know, I could only find single-joint needlenose pliers by Orbis, sold under their own brand and presumably others such as Connex.
The single-joint does not open as wide as a lap joint. Here's a comparison of jaw opening capacity with a pair of representative lap joint needlenoses, from Stahlwille.
Does anything know more about this company or have any ideas about the origin of these pliers?
