By the way, do you guys think this kind of gap is normal for high quality tools like these Knipex... Or are these pliers defective?
The angled version I bought don't have a gap when it's closed...

^^^^ Hard to know if it's part of the design when the gap is that subtle. I have some Snap On (sorry not old world) that I assume are designed that way so the jaws are parallel when they are gripping something. Maybe the same with Knipex.

Been reading through (mostly looking at pics) old posts on this thread.

Do these function well as pipe wrenches? Cannot find much info on them. Is the moving jaw reversible? Do they apply clamping force when turned like a standard pipe wrench? They look like they would slip off
Pipe wrenches and water pump pliers/Cobras work much better...
Bought some Gardena garden tools for a bit of a test due to their low cost at a discount shop in the UK recently (TK Maxx for us Brits on here who may be wondering).
Quality is quite good. Good heft, with a solid feel whilst the fit and finish is pretty much flawless.
Appear to be made in China due to the lack of COO on the tools and packaging (only Husqvarna AB address given) although for £4 a piece I thought they were worth a try.
I think the regular MSRP is between 10 and 11 € each.
The plastic parts of these tools might be from Germany, Czech Republic or England:
--> http://www.husqvarna-oem.com/en/locations/
The metal parts are made in CZ:
--> http://www.steeltec.cz/en/

Next, is a pair of pliers with a wide flat jaws.....marked ARHOSO produckt W-Germany (look a lot like Knipex)
What is it's use....?????
It seems they don´t make this style anymore:

Thanks Monte,

I did a quick search for their gardening tools manufacture but didn't find the info on their European sites which you did.
Interestingly the steeltec link shows gardening tools in the exact Duroplast finish...

What I find odd is that Gardena clearly state Made in Germany on their hosepipe accessories packaging (I have those myself) but not mention anything on their gardening tools?

It's probably not deemed to be important to most of their customers and maybe Gardena / Husqvarna just use the Germany COO as a marketing tool for the hosepipe accessories...

How have your Husqy cordless tools performed this Summer?
Are you happy with them?

Spotted on Ebay. Belzer Precision Electronic Pliers 2660GG. Interesting pin design to stop the jaws twisting.

I have these pliers for over 20 years, it´s very sturdy and handy tool, f.i. to bend thicker wires in narrow positions, building tube-amplifiers, f.i. for positioning the wires to the valveholders to solder them. I love Belzer!:)

My newest additions: Hazet 606 ratcheting wrenches (sadly missing the 18 and 15, but the price was too good) and finally after nearly a year of searching a Hazet 916-G. I wanted to have this ratchet so bad after I found it in an old Hazet cataloque but they seem to show up maybe once a year on ebay. There doesn´t even exist a pictures on google. 35€ :bounce:

I think it´s normal, otherwise the point are useless, it´like "bombage" in sheet metal bending machines, where the "knives" in the middle are a little longer than at both sides

I just checked and mine don't do that.

As a bonus, here is a separate set of Knipex pliers all of the same model just different sizes, and the 160 and 125 have the tapering, but the 140 in the middle does not.

Do the customers prefer foreign brands or don´t they care ?

We don't have too many welding equipment manufacturers. Frankly speaking, Paton is the most famous Ukrainian brand. Moreover, they have the most extensive products range.

We also have Donmet plant, but they just make torches, nozzles, pressure regulators, etc. KZESO makes primarily rail welding machines - not exactly what you need for DIY :lol_hitti Yes, I have some customers in the railway industry, but KZESO doesn't want to work with resellers.

There are also some brands such as Atom-Svarka, Istok-Pivden, Elsva, etc., but they are very poorly distributed.

So most part of Ukrainian users have to choose between Paton and foreign brands. That's why I'm thinking about GYS.

That's a cool ratchet. I will add it on my wishlist.

I picked this up recently and have put it to work. Stahlwille Stabil export model.

Of course it sees more 16 - 19mm bolts than standard but it fits right.

Anyone know when these were made?

doesn't really look different than current production "10" cept it says MOTOR.. seems most the other stahlwille wrenches still say stabil, not sure why open end changed - unless they had two lines of DOE at one point..

Does anyone have the Gedore 8133-200 multifunction pliers? If so, can you measure their length? Gedore doesn't have any data for these pliers on their website.

I recently picked up a pair for a needlenose roundup I'm planning to do, but I wonder if I was sent a mislabeled set of 8133-180. As you can see, these 8133-200 is visually markedly shorter than the 8132-200.

attachment.php

These 8133-200 measure about 188-190mm long, whereas the 8132-200 are about 205-206mm. I bought the 8133-200 (and for that matter the 8132-200) for a forthcoming "needlenose roundup."

The Gedore catalogue is highly detailed. Here is the pliers pdf section

I would like that, if you have a chance. I'm curious if yours end up being shorter than the claimed 200mm as well. Also, thanks for pointing out the different crimping sections. I did not notice that.

I still haven't heard anything from Gedore or their US subsidiary. That is an outlier for me. Every other German tool company or US subsidiary thereof that I have wanted or needed to contact has been both prompt to reply and helpful in said replies. That turns me off quite a bit from making future Gedore purchases. There are lots of companies with similarly excellent tools that also provide sterling service at similar pricing.

I may be the last person to notice but Photobucket images are showing again so it's a good time to read through old posts.

Krino twist drills set. This product line is made in China. As far as I can trust the reviews of my customers who are engaged in shipbuilding, quality is comparable to Ruko 214 product family. Frankly speaking, I have no idea where Ruko twist drills are made. The Ruko distributor knows the truth, but his employees will never show any invoice to anyone :D

LTI screwdriver bits sets in metal boxes. There is a magnetic base inside the boxes that prevents the bits from accidentally falling out. Made in Taiwan. But I hope that premium line LTI products are still made in Italy. At least the most part. Anyhow, I will ask my manager about it after the holiday season ends in Italy :D

Another one Taiwanese LTI bits set. As you can see, the magnet inside the bit holder is strong enough. Quality should be acceptable for DIY users, constructors, etc., but I'm not sure about heavy machinery.

LTI hex keys set. Typical Chinese quality.

LTI non-magnetic nut setters set. In addition to being made in Taiwan, they have one more advantage: they are cheap :D

Learned today that all of Metabo's corded SDS Plus offerings, the KHE 2444 and the KHE 26 D are made in China. Learned that the hard way by buying both, and then having to return them both when I saw the COO sticker.

Least the Bosch Bulldog is still german made.
