Monte,

The 179big-1 seems to be just what i need.
How much are you going to pay for the new Hazet box?
Where did you order it?
Hoffmann, TBS Aachen, nor our local Hazet supplier here in Belgium seems to know anything about it yet.

I didn`t order it i was just kidding. ;) The box has a "promo" price of 1999.-€ + tax.
The flyer is brandnew from february 28th so i guess nobody knows the box yet :)

That`s a good question Hawk, but Stahlwille has a nice flex-head ratchet ;) . The short Hazet ratchets should be also fine-tooth.
Germany is a bit more traditional in some cases so the "news" over here is old somewhere else...

@chreese:
regarding european files + rasps: DFM-Corona is made in Europe (Poland)
Regarding Blu-dan:

Eisenwaren2010077.jpg

Blu-dan (I Brauns Söhne) took over Tome Feteira in Portugal. Production is solely now in Portugal, no longer Austria. I guess both brands should be available in Austria, otherwise you could order direct from Portugal Mr. Braun the president said. Most of the file business is in indian hands nowadays, so hurry up :)

@superautobacs:
i was there on wednesday, but only snap a couple of pics mostly from the booths. I will post some on thursday.

here some freebies i got from my new tool buddies :D
So the gasoline (76.93€), ticket (29.-€) and parking fee (8.-€) almost paid off :D ;)

Do you get free tools at the shows?
Then I'm coming the next time. I've just registered for the newsletter.
Doesn't look like there will be another one soon somewhere else?

Those are very nice free tools!

After a four month wait I finally recieved my Hazet ratchet order (916F and 916N). The 916N is substantially bigger and lighter than the 916F. The directional button of the 916N is a very nice feature.

Wow, nice freebies!!
We'll be awaiting pics of the fair, yes. :D

I like that StrongHand magtab you got....and a lot of their other cool products as well.

Did Bondhus actually perform demonstrations in front of people?

The Channellock reversible blade screwdriver: when the blade is fully inserted is there any fore/aft movement of the blade. is there any other play between the blade and the sleeve? I'm wondering if it's a common thing to have various play in interchangeable type screwdrivers of that type. I have a Ko-ken one and that has absolutely zero play, which I really like--it feels like a standard screwdriver. The Wera Vario handle, on the other hand, has lots of play in it. The tolerances are not as tight, I guess.

Here's the Vario and a made in Holland, BearGrip ball-end hex key. The rubber o-rings(?) on the handle are a nice touch for quick spinning, but the handle feels and looks cheapie. I compared a few of the same items and found that a few had bad geometry in the ball-end (production error, perhaps):

Where do you order the Hazet stuff from?

I have a HF composite type offset handle ratchet that I take for the road/track box...its lightweighted-ness keeps the load weight down for sure.

The directional button is a cool feature indeed; the idea reminds me of this Bahco/Belzer ratchet:

I don`t know i didn`t ask for free stuff they just gave it to me. Normally the fair is just for companies/businessmen to find new exporters/importers, wholesalers etc. So i guess they will give you a sample too. I also got them although i was almost the only one without a suit and tie :) But probably in most cases because we had a nice "chit-chat" and it also could help in case of the free Grip-on tool that i had a package of one of their first tools with me when Grip-on still was named "Arpes" 23 or 24 years ago...

@Hazet:
Nice !!! The Hazet 916F (as well as the 1/4" and 3/8") ratchets are one of my all time favorites! I really dig the design !

@Hawk:
i know ! :D ;)

@superautobacs:
yes they did but i was too late :) They already had several twisted (Bondhus) and broken (wera) L-keys laying around there.
The Channellock driver has absolutely no play. There is just plastic "inside" no metal clamp like the traditional ones (which also have no play - at least "Belzer" brand (new) and very little play - Wiha (used))

ps: nice Beargrip driver ! Lucky guy ! They just changed the handles ! They now look like the Athlet branded ones

Awesome stuff so far. hope to see the next installments....part 2,3,4? :D

Did you get a chance to take a look at Vessel's hammer lineup? Did you see their new screwdrivers called "Megadora Impacta" (they work like the traditional impact screwdriver when struck with a hammer)?

They also had new screwdrivers with glossy painted handle in "candy purple".
Unfortunately he felt uncomfortable so no pics of the tools itself only from the booth . The soft face hammers look really nice. Luckily they have a distributor in france , probably after the fair in germany too, so maybe I`ll have a hammer soon and a couple of screwdrivers ;)

So much eye candy :eyecrazy: :rocker: :pimpflash

I salute Bollmann for their booth--it must've took some guts to put that into reality! Small company=smaller budget....hrmm I wonder if the artist/painter was hired in-house. :D

I love Felo's showcase of historical "artifacts".

How tall of a stack do you think your catalogue collection is....8ft? :lol_hitti

Servus, folks,

@Hazet
Congrats on this beautiful toolbox. :thumbup:
If I had this box I wouldn't care if one of Hazet's female assistants were included.

At the beginning of this year, I had the plan to spend less money on tools than 2009 but I do doubt that I can keep my resolution with all these new tools. Many thanks :headscrat for the pics, Monte.

it depends on if its completely cracked or just a small part. If you have to hire someone it would be to expensive, if you would know someone maybe it cost you only a case of beer . But since it is not the case i would just look for a used one from ebay...

The base is completely cracked/broken if I recall correctly.

Bosch has something similar like Festool

Sorry, it is hard to believe that I did not think about the Bosch IXO. By the way, new Festool cordless drills and jigsaws should be released soon.

I thought about using the drill as a screwdriver or nutdriver (with socket) so "Safety clutch" came to my mind...

I think that in the manual Protool explicitly states that the Quadrill should not be used as a nutdriver when driving screws in metal.

hm interesting. i wonder because other drills can be locked....?? This Duss for example. That would be too annoying to hold the switch while chiseling the tiles from a bathroom or so...
ps: what do you plan to do with a 10 joule hammer drill ?

Maybe the switch of the Duss can be locked in the chiselling mode only?
I would certainly find an application for a SDS-max hammer drill when/if I owned one. ;)

Since you already know which Festools are must-haves, feel free to buy them. :bounce:

Thanks for the interesting information. I didn't know that Braun bought Tome Feteira. Do you know when Braun closed the factory in Austria? I've never seen files or rasps marked with "Tome Feteira" here. Since I bought most of my files and rasps during the close-out-sale of a store, my Braun files might be Austrian-made?
Unfortunately, I was too busy to call Fischer in the past days.

Where did you purchase your NWS pliers? Schuebo's pricing during the current promos looks good to me.

I didn't have enough time to take pics of all of my Festool tools but at least some of them are pictured below - along with other European woodworking tools.

@superautobacs:

yeah probably the employees gave their children some pliers to paint them :D
I had a nice conversation with one of the Bollmann employees so i found out that the "Zerem" locking pliers i posted earlier were probably one of the first locking pliers in germany and also the first one of the german manufacturers who made sheet metal locking pliers (like the vise grip 8R) which were also patented and 90 degree welding locking pliers. Then they went out of business in `61 or so and Bollmann tried to buy them but were outbid by another company but the "Zerem" tools never appeared again.
"Zerem" also supplied adjustable wrenches to Snap-on he said. Bollmann also supplied to the US and the locking pliers and revolving punch pliers were sold as "General" brand until the importer stopped importing them due to the exchange rate and too high prices. Now they import from Taiwan, China or India wherever they find the cheapest price they say... Bollmann also exports a lot of the revolving punch pliers to China because the chinese don`t want to work with the chinese tools. They also once supplied Beta until they were looking for lower prices. Stanley (Sidchrome) is still a customer of Bollmann. The piston ring pliers they make are made on old "Belzer" machinery which they once bought, they only removed the "D.R.G.B" ("German Reich design patent") so the design of the large piston ring pliers (150mm) is basically more than 65 years old (the tooling of the small ones are reworked). They also once supplied to "Dowidat" but not "Gedore" because as a supplier you had to choose between one of them so "Wezag" supplied to Gedore (After the Gedore brothers split up they build a wall in the middle of the Gedore factory so 1 brother continued "Gedore" the other started "Dowidat" in the same factory... :) :lol_hitti)

ps:
here an overview of the companies who had a booth at the fair: click

I spent 8 hours just in one hall in the first floor where most of the german and european manufacturers were present. Plan with exhibitors: click. I only had an hour for the rest, so unfortunately most booths were empty already, so no pics from Keiba, Leborgne, Megapro, Malco, Midwest, Omat, Osca, Super tool, Genius, Toptul etc... what a pity...
But to look at every single booth and talk a bit here and there takes one day per hall...
So next year i have to visit the other halls too (hall 1,2,3 tools + hardware from asia, hall 4 Industrial supply, hall 5 fastening + fittings, hall 11 home improvement and locks + fittings) and the second floor of the "German/EU" tool hall.

ps: the catalog stack is only 15 cm high, :) the bag was full since also some tools used up the space (clamp) ... So i had to leave some catalogs there since my fingers also almost ripped out :)

The rubber grip handle replaces the plastic handles. Extra short sockets and a compact head ratchet with "U" shaped pawls with very smooth ratcheting action and unique universal joint ("Ball joint" type) with "flats" (so the socket stays in the position you want) will follow in the next months so check out www.koken-tool.co.jp often. Sorry no pics allowed since it was a pre-production model where the handle fell off :) (round thin plastic handle). Retail price around 150€ for a socket set. The "Nut twister" sockets are also available now in 1/4" drive.
Just looked at their website, they also have insulated tools now (click) Made by Lemp / intercable

Thats all folks !

sorry i know only few tool pics, but i had to check out as much stuff as i can ... too many tools not enough time.... next year I`ll take more pics and talk less :)

Unfortunately some major players were not there like Irwin, Stanley/Facom, SNA Europe/Snap-on, Heyco etc....maybe next year....

@ chreese:
wow very nice electric tool collection !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the best from the best !!!! I`m jealous !! Whats your street adress again ???? :D
Thanks for the info about protool and the link to the new Festool tools etc. Bosch and Metabo also redesigned their saws this year. Here is an article about Braun/Tome click. I think April 2005 they took them over. But when production moved ? I dunno. I didnt ask , it was already difficult enough, a german trying to speak english and a Portuguese trying to speak english :)

Monte,

Thanks for spending the time in taking and posting the pictures from the tool show! I really appreciate it! It makes me wish I had deep pockets to purchase some of these new tools.

Thanks for sharing the conversation that you had with Bollmann--very interesting information. I'll now be looking out for those General items.
Definitely a :lol_hitti to the "split" Gedore factory.

10 years ago, I kept going to Japan's largest tuner show (show for modified vehicles and parts) 4 years in a row. I don't think I was ever able to see all the halls, no matter how quickly I browsed through the booths--there's just too many. I remember when the last hour of the fair would roll by, I'd frantically walk around aimlessly, trying to absorb as much as I could. I was usually one of the last persons inside the place, often told by security guards that the fair is over and you must leave. :D By the sounds of it, this fair seems larger.

ps: the catalog stack is only 15 cm high, :) the bag was full since also some tools used up the space (clamp) ... So i had to leave some catalogs there since my fingers also almost ripped out :)

:lol: How about when combining those with the rest of your catalogues inside your rooms and next to the sh*tter. :D
I used to take a backpack with me to the shows and I must've hauled 5kg's worth of brochures and little freebies.

I didn't know Ko-ken was there...
The updated handle design really makes them look current.
Do you notice anything different about their Nut Twister when compared with other brands?

@dede + hazet: You're welcome! If you don`t want to come to germany next year :) you could visit the SEMA and AAPEX shows, Snap-on, MAC, Wera, Gedore, Knipex etc. participate there. (see below)

@MD11:
I don´t know, didn`t ask them ;) but they don´t have a distributor in germany. So the best is to contact them direct: www.dolex.fr

@maxipouce:
I don`t know if you already know it, "Sambre et meuse" belongs to Dolex now.

@chreese:
did your IPS pliers etc. already arrived ?

@Hawk:
actually yes, when i asked for the MOB locking pliers they wanted to sell me them even without the 19% v.a.t., also "Tome Feteira" would sell me files for 20 or 25 € a set, but unfortunately i have no money right now (no job) so I bet you also could buy some Grip-on stuff, Irega etc. because they had sometimes dozens of the same tools on display and if you would beg a bit :) and show them hard Euro cash :) they would do it i guess. I`ll try it next year and take some € and $ and ¥ with me :) I bet you could make some great deals with the chinese also if you show them some €€€ paper money... :)

I wonder how NWS's new three component handles will compare to the current counterparts. It's difficult for me to imagine that they can improve the dualies being how wonderful they feel :)

The new handles are thinner and slim like Knipex handles. They are also "slippery" and not as sticky as the other style. A version with grey/yellow design will also be available.

Thanks for sharing the conversation that you had with Bollmann--very interesting information. I'll now be looking out for those General items.

yes very interesting ;) :D ;)
hehe no but sometimes its even more interesting for example the King **** dude said that the blanks of their wrenches are imported from germany and taiwan and then broached and finished in england. So you can broach either a metric or fractional size out of the same blank.

Or another interesting story is that the 2-component handles of the "KS-tools" torque wrenches (and in the meantime also available as "Matador", Nexus" and "HT8") are actually supplied by "Norbar" from the UK because its too expensive to make a die for just a couple of thousand wrenches so they ship them to Taiwan where the competitors wrenches are made and assembled. This story was confirmed by 2 different sources.

btw. KS-tools: They also have a Stahlwille Manoskop copy now.

:) haha yeah i know that feeling. You simply don`t want to go away from all these amazing things you see there. ps: Isn`t "Super Auto bacs" a car show ?? I think i saw it in the net somewhere but only could find a japanese tuner shop right now.

:lol: How about when combining those with the rest of your catalogues inside your rooms and next to the sh*tter. :D
I used to take a backpack with me to the shows and I must've hauled 5kg's worth of brochures and little freebies.

I think the combined stack will break through the floor :) ;)
I already "outsourced" a couple of catalogs to the guest bed click :)
yeah a backpack would be a good idea !! One backpack, one of those "baby-packs" for the front, one bag in the left and one bag in the right hand :D ;)

Klein tools / Klein de Mexico (?) :shocking::confused:

hecho en mexico ?? :)

:lol: What would you have said? :D

I would go to the Toptul booth, take the Toptul 440 series wrench ;) , pull the Facom wrench out of my pocket and then say: "oh sorry I`m at the wrong booth, everything looks like Facom here" :D ;) hehe no i just would ask if they are the OEM...

I didn't know Ko-ken was there...
The updated handle design really makes them look current.
Do you notice anything different about their Nut Twister when compared with other brands?

Yes the handle also feels good, nice sticky rubber.
I only saw the snap-on "Twist" version live last year but i would need to see them side by side. From the pictures they look almost identical.

ps: just saw that Koken added 5/8" drive impact sockets to their line up.

Thanks again for sharing all those photos :thumbup:

Servus, everybody,

@Monte
Did many people visit the show? I was at the HolzHandwerk in Nürnberg a couple of times and the booths were quite crowded. Compared to my impressions, the booths at the Eisenwarenmesse seem rather "empty".

How do you like the Wera "hammer ratchet"?

@ chreese:
wow very nice electric tool collection !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the best from the best !!!! I`m jealous !! Whats your street adress again ???? :D
Thanks for the info about protool and the link to the new Festool tools etc. Bosch and Metabo also redesigned their saws this year.

Thanks. Yep, I already found the re-designed Bosch and Metabo jigsaws. From what I can tell from the catalogue and from online pics, the changes about the Metabo top-models are rather "cosmetic". I'd like to know how the new Festool jigsaw compares to the Mafell saw.
I think I'll sell the CDD and get a new Festool cordless drill.

Chreese

How does the Festool jig saw compare to the Fein ASTE638?

I have never used the Fein jigsaw. Rumors state that the Fein operates extremely smoothly. The Festool Trion (I'm not familiar with the new Carvex, yet) offers more features (CP blade guide, special splinter guard, most-simple blade change) and should be easier to use as a consequence. The Festool saw might be the better choice for (professional) woodworkers who regularly install kitchens etc.

@chreese:
did your IPS pliers etc. already arrived ?

Yes and no. A buddy of mine picked them up from the dealer but I don't have them yet.

Added some Stahlwille wrenches and sockets to my arsenal lately:

Monte,

I have to cut this a little short, but here it goes:

Combining the most favoured handle profile in Japan, along with Japan's most favoured PB Swiss screwdriver shank, we created a modified sample. Perhaps from here on in the future, we may see collaborations just as this, between two different companies. It would be interesting to create a model with Germany's "W" company as well.

I'm jealous of your new favourite book. Do you prefer this one over the 2009 issue?

[Edit]
Chreese,

I thought you didn't need anymore wrenches added to your collection. :D I guess not. :D

I visited the fair at the last day, the other days it was more crowded.
ps: The Hardware fair website says 56.500 visitors in 4 days and 2686 booths :D HolzHandwerk + fensterbau/frontale fair (2008) together 102.947 visitors in 4 days and 516 booths. :D Thats 5.26 visitors per booth per day at the Hardware fair vs. 49.88 visitors at the Woodworking fair :D so yes 10 times more sounds crowded :D ... But the less crowded the better ( and 5 times the booths too ;) ) ps: some more pics see the last link.

argh i just saw the next fair will be 2012.....****............ :(:wtf::mad:

i dunno, i own a ratchet and a hammer so i save the 67.-€ + vat and buy something different. (The extension handle cost extra and the "awl/building bar" too) Here is the KOLOSS website: click

ps: Wera bit ratchet website: click

Hopefully the new Festool saws are not as pricy as the Mafell version :) I also would like to see a comparison of the quality of the cuts (if they cut 90 degree) because Festool say the extra guide make good cuts while Mafell says without any guide the cuts are better.

very nice !!! Some pics of the deep sockets ? Does Hoffmann has a new sale ??

@superautobacs:
thank you for the translation !!!
"Germany`s W company" ? Witte ? Wiha ? Wuro ? Wera ? :D
Wera i think ;) After seeing all the hard handle transplants here and the zyklop i thought about a normal ratchet with Wera handle...
For the people who can read japanese i guess the issue is very interesting because of the reports (KTC, Keiba) etc. and also for the others who cant read japanese its still interesting to look through the buyers guide and to see some pics of the machinery used to produce tools and how japanese tool boxes look like etc.
So which is better ?? I like both... and I`m eagerly awaiting the next issue.
...hopefully in one of the new issues will be a new ratcheting wrench test ;) :) ;)

Hi everybody! I was quite busy and had to stay low for a while. Anyway I manage to find some time to read your posts and keep an eye on tool manufacturers websites. Speaking of this I have been wondering why Stahlwille has such a poor website. Specifically it is apparent the lack of a tool catalogue in pdf format. So here is your gift: Stahlwille 2004 catalogue in pdf format (in english language).

http://rapidshare.com/files/359901954/STALHWILLE_CATALOGUE.rar.html

Enjoy!! :bounce: and keep posting :)

saber Tramontina ?

Já foram piores. Alguns produtos da linha Tramontina-PRO (Cr-V) equivalem à Gedore/Belzer, mas custam mais.

Have been worse. Some product line Tramontina-PRO (Cr-V) are equivalent to Gedore/Belzer, but cost more.

... even more interesting for example the King **** dude said that the blanks of their wrenches are imported from germany and taiwan and then broached and finished in england. So you can broach either a metric or fractional size out of the same blank.

That's interesting. I wonder how a person would be able to indentify whether the raw material was from Germany or from Taiwan when the wrench, I assume, would say "made in England"?

ps: Isn`t "Super Auto bacs" a car show ?? I think i saw it in the net somewhere but only could find a japanese tuner shop right now.

Yeah, Superautobacs is a nation-wide store that caters towards car enthusiasts wanting to purchase/to get installed aftermarket car parts, accessories, and go-fast goodies.

I think the combined stack will break through the floor :) ;)

:lol_hitti I knew it.

@superautobacs:

Wera i think ;) After seeing all the hard handle transplants here and the zyklop i thought about a normal ratchet with Wera handle...

Yeah, I'm sure their referring to Wera. I believe they simply took a PB interchangeable screwdriver shank to create that hybrid.
I've started working on a custom ratchet myself, using a Wera Kraftform grip, I'll install it onto a Stanley rotary ratchet, and it'll have a square drive **** end like the Proxxon. :D

And a 14 page article on KTC/Nepros....I must get this issue then.

PS. For some reason, the pictures are not loading up for me; anyone else?

@gathanas1970,

@Superautobacs:
I didn`t ask which blanks are used for which wrenches but the wrenches all said "King **** England".

I've started working on a custom ratchet myself, using a Wera Kraftform grip, I'll install it onto a Stanley rotary ratchet, and it'll have a square drive **** end like the Proxxon. :D

That would be a good idea ! Maybe even a good idea for Wera to actually produce something like this ! After the "Zyklop" and the "Koloss" it would fit good in their line of "problem solvers". Some possible names could be "Ceberus" or "Hydra" :)

ps: yesterday the pics didn`t load for me too, now they do. They`re borrowed from this link: click

@Chreese:
Do you have some close up pics of the "head" and the handles of the Knipex bolt cutter ? I`m looking for one too, I`m not shure yet if Knipex, VBW, Alarm, Krenn or maybe Orbis.

@guidoK:
nice find ! Never heard of that brand !

Found this at a exhibition. Unfortunately they don`t have a dealer in germany.

A good way to pimp your locking pliers to hold round material:

Monte, I haven't looked @ the french company: "SAM Tools - High performance tools" in awhile; I found them when I traced them as being the OEM for the Craftsman Cable Operated Hose Clamp Pliers and found their website. Looking @ their new website last night; they really have expanded their tool line and it looks impressive; can you tell me if they are oem's for many companies, are their new tools their own and are they popular? They have not made it to the USA as far as I can tell; however they maybe the oem for many people on the hose clamp pliers... I think they have a patent on the cable designs or something! Any info appreciated!

website:
http://www.sam-outillage.fr/home

I was particularly impressed with their unique storage units; check out the "tool roller" on page 18 of their general tool catalog; part # CP-116RT. I think that is cool! :)

Their tools look like they are high quality; although I might be seeing some of their tools from other companies re-badged; overall they look impressive! Did you see SAM @ the trade show.... would like your comments on their tools! Thanks! :)

Billymade,

FWIW, when I went to Paris earlier this year, I had my eyes peeled for all French-made tools that I could find. SAM was no where to be found, at least in that city. I'm sure if I ventured out of the city I may have come across them, unless they are exclusively sold off a truck.

Hopefully our resident French member, Maxipouce, can chime in. ...and of course, Monte. :)

@Chreese: those are some nice Stahlwille.

I'm looking to get some 3/8's and 1/2" drive metric 6 point sockets soon.

Maybe the 3/8's first, and then the 1/2 shallow next.

I'll keep my Snappy ratchets, but I'm looking forward to the Stahlwille sockets.

As for Festool: I'm in the market soon for the detail sander (about $290 in the US). And I'd like to get some of those German made cases that Steve has on ultimategarage.com

Servus, folks,

Chreese,

I thought you didn't need anymore wrenches added to your collection. :D I guess not. :D

Your initial thought was right. I didn't buy those wrenches because I needed them, no, I wanted them (which is still some kind of need - I needed those Stahlwille wrenches to fulfil my desire for them.) :bounce:

Thanks for the information about the fair, Monte. I never visited the Fensterbau/Frontale. I never had any difficulties spending a complete day at the HolzHandwerk although I didn't pay attention to everything presented there. This year, I won't be going there.

i dunno, i own a ratchet and a hammer so i save the 67.-€ + vat and buy something different. (The extension handle cost extra and the "awl/building bar" too) Here is the KOLOSS website: click

I see. Obviously, the Koloss is not primarily designed for "garage guys".

ps: Wera bit ratchet website: click

Nice! Can you compare the Wera bit ratchet to other bit ratchets? Which is the smallest one?
My Berner ratchet is already pretty compact and I don't think I'll spend $$ on another bit ratchet if it isn't smaller.

Berner_Bitratsche_03.jpg

Hopefully the new Festool saws are not as pricy as the Mafell version :) I also would like to see a comparison of the quality of the cuts (if they cut 90 degree) because Festool say the extra guide make good cuts while Mafell says without any guide the cuts are better.

From what I've heard the corded PS 400 EBQ-Plus/PSB400 EBQ-Plus will cost EUR 299 (without VAT).
One of the reasons why I bought the Festool Trion was the quality of the cuts (splinter-free and (very close to) 90°). The Festool CP-guide works. As I haven't used the new Mafell saw, I can't comment on it. Nevertheless, I do doubt that a jigsaw that provides even more accurate cuts than the Festool does is a must. And I also seriously doubt that spending (almost) EUR 400 on a jigsaw is justified in most cases. Now if somebody just wants it (and can afford it) why not ...

very nice !!! Some pics of the deep sockets ? Does Hoffmann has a new sale ??

Pics of the sockets will follow.
These are the only Hoffmann sales I'm currently aware of. While I'd like to see a new Hoffmann promo, I'm glad there's none (that is very tempting at the moment). I have to order a couple of Gedore tools before the Magic promo expires.

Gedore tool box with built in battery

A more affordable Gedore toolbox with larger drawers would be more appreciated - at least by me.

BTW, I had a look at some Heyco combination wrenches a few days ago. I liked the finish but didn't fall in love with their shape.

@Chreese:
Do you have some close up pics of the "head" and the handles of the Knipex bolt cutter ? I`m looking for one too, I`m not shure yet if Knipex, VBW, Alarm, Krenn or maybe Orbis.

Unfortunately not. The pics posted are the only ones I have. I haven't even unpacked my bolt cutter, yet. A bolt cutter had been on my list for a few months. I spontaneously decided for the Knipex when I stumbled across a sale.

Thanks, Ivan. I don't think you will be disappointed with Stahlwille. A few more pics of the sockets will follow as soon as possible.

As for Festool: I'm in the market soon for the detail sander (about $290 in the US). And I'd like to get some of those German made cases that Steve has on ultimategarage.com

The Deltex would be my choice if I were looking for a detail sander.
As superautobacs pointed out, LV is certainly a good company to deal with, LV is even known among European woodworkers. When I started out with Festool several years ago, I found Bob Marino to be very helpful. He patiently replied to my emails although he knew I would never (be able to) buy from him. You might like to check out his online store or drop him a line.

Greetings from Europe,

Berner_Bitratsche_03.jpg

Chreese,

That Wera bit ratchet mechanism looked way too familiar.
As far as I can tell, the Wera bit ratchet is sourced partially or wholly from Hi-Five, in Taiwan. Take a look..

Buried in this thread (pg. 20) is my Suekage Tools (SEK) bit ratchet that came with a pair of mega-stubby PH2,3 bits. Look at the mechanism and how it's held in the body--it's the same as the Wera bit ratchet.

It's probably more comfortable to hold, but at such a small size, you're not expected to use high loads of torque anyway. The length is listed as being 87mm long; yours is probably the exact same (mine is).

Oh, btw, if you weren't aware, your Bahco ratcheting screwdriver also comes from the same factory. :D
[EDIT]: Nice pictures of the deep offset wrench and sockets!
