Loads of square headed nuts and bolts. Square nuts are usually used with roofing bolts, square head bolts are used on everything from brake adjusters and plumbing valves through to machine toolposts and vice clamps!

I have a 3 sets of “bi-square” sockets, and use them regularly!

I can remember being shown why I needed to purchase Snap On brand 3/8 extensions only for checking the rear differentials, they had very square corners when compared to most others. While one should work to remove the accumulated debris in that female recess, it rarely happens, using the Snap On extension reduced the chances for rounding these plugs out making them very difficult to remove.

Just bought a pair of these on eBay. $34.50 including shipping. Must be discontinued, as I could only find them at one other place, Digikey, where they are $81.10. Don't really need another pair of Erems, but can't resist a bargain for a tool of this caliber.

Have no idea what that last stuff means. :lol2:

Six pairs still for sale.

I have had the opportunity to experience the Vigor line of tools whilst I was in Germany.

It is dreadful the least, better get something of eBay; It is a personal opinion though.

To give you an example Gedore Red/ Carolus is first class compared to Vigor[emoji6]

The "code" is something Cripe Distributing puts in all their ads. Their address is on Aeronca Street in Boise, ID so perhaps it is an internal code that helps them locate items in the warehouse.

Is this confirmed? On their site they claim they manufacture all jacks in house!

The reply I got was
the Compac CAX axle stands are made in China. Compac has their own production facility with danish production managers there.

The bigger tools like workshop presses, wheel dollies, cranes etc. are manufactured in Denmark.

Do you know of any reasonably priced old world stands?

I have not been able to find any at any price. I have not inquired on the AC Hydraulic stands though because I can find no way to get them to the USA. I an inquiry in to Beta to find out for sure, but I'm pretty sure theirs are made in China.

How about Melco?

Really decent, British made, and little more expensive than the crappy ones!

Generally sold through garage equipment suppliers, so if you have a tame garage or body shop ask them to order for you.

I think Machine Mart carry them. Saw them there a year ago, and price wasn’t loaded!

Melco axle stands are available direct from Melco. A search on “Melco Products” will find them.

All the usual stuff is available there - Wheel Braces, wrecking bars, pry bars, tyre levers etc, and a lot stuff like cold chisels, as well as a good selection of axle stands! Prices seem fair!

I have the ESCO 3 TON (made in China), I have had them for over 5 years and use them a lot and have had not issues with them what so ever, they have been excellent and very safe, as safety is what it is all about right?

Well safe in a small sample size and safe without any eeror rate at all are two different things. Also, safety isn't necessarily the only thing, I don't seek to start a debate by generally speaking I try not to give money to countries that engage in human rights abuses.

Forgot about Melco. Made in England. Used to have a pair bought from Machine Mart. They were nice but didn't adjust low enough to work with my crappy trolley jack.

Does anyone have any experience with the Felo 374 ratcheting screwdriver (the updated model without the vertical gear switch). It seems that on Amazon the old model is still being sold even though it's discontinued. This is the updated model:

I'd like to try it out or find the updated model but it's difficult to find.

Looks good. Problem is that if the part number is the same as the old model then retailers won't know to update the pics. They may get the new model without knowing there has been a change.

Purchases from an autojumble yesterday. 1.5lb Whitehouse hammer and Record clamp. Both made in England. Thought the hammer handle had been painted by a previous owner but see all Whitehouse hammers have red handles.

Also spotted a set of Halfords Pro ratchet spanners in packaging that confirms they are (or were) made in the same factory as Gearwrench.

Arrived today. Was going to unceremoniously remove the tools and bin the calendar but it's quite a nice big thing so going to wait until Christmas for the tools. Gift for myself. Ho ho ho.

? They don't sell direct to USA from their factory.

Apparently the AC Hydraulic stands are made in Germany. They tell me their their US distributor will sell their entire range of products, though it appears they don't carry the stands. I'm waiting to hear back on if there is some way to buy them here in the US.

I think you may struggle a little here.

I’ve found these things quite tricky to use in the smaller sizes, so I suspect that’s why they don’t generally go smaller than 3mm.

Every German made screw extractor set I’ve encountered seems to be basically the same set. I don’t know who the manufacturer actually is, but I’ve never seen them smaller than the sizes you normally get.

Presto in the U.K. offer them. The pattern is slightly different, and Presto say they work down to 1/8, which they translate as 2.5mm. Whether the tool is actually any smaller,, I couldn’t say, but I find this pattern is slightly more resistant to breakage!

Turns out, no dealer has them because the US distributor doesn't even have them in their parts catalog. I'm working with them now. If there ends up being an order minimum I'll try to organize a group buy on the board (assuming the rules allow it) and if not I'll just post the conclusion on how to buy.

I don't think it exists. I would say with something that small just use a left handed drill bit. A screw that small should have so little friction it comes out with one of those.

Bit of a random thing noticed on an ebay sale. Britool e2.uba 10mm hex bit is stamped 'Germany.' Didn't know some Britool tools came from Germany. Maybe just the hex bits. :dunno:

Just the hex bits (and Torx too) they were the only things the original Britool bought in.

The sockets that housed them were made in the U.K.
