I just finished restoring these tools that were manufactured in my home town many decades before I was even a gleam in my father's eye. For all I know they may have been built even before he was born. It got me wondering if anybody else here has tools that they use (and might have restored) that were manufactured where you are from? If you do, post'em up! 20231001_172140.jpg20231001_172355.jpg

Carlson Tape measures were built in my hometown, but before my parents lived there. Apparently bought out by H.K. Porter and became Disston Carlson

My Jackson wheelbarrow was built in Harrisburg Pa same plant for the past ~100 years. Sad to say it will close by years end. No need to restore...just go to a retailer and pickup a new one.

Hometown, no. But pretty darn close.

I have posted this 'Ye Olde Stompin' Grounds' map down on the Vintage Board before.

I have an entire wing of 'the Lugzsonian' (i.e., my basement museum) dedicated to Bonney tools and an entire shelf with just Bethlehem Spark Plug Company tools. I won't spam the thread, but I have attached just a few below for a feel. And I am slowly working on collecting a Mack Truck toolkit, also supplied by Bonney.

Good thread idea.

For my current area I’ve got a lot of stuff from Thorsen- Oakland.

Closest thing I’ve got to a tool from my hometown is a Smith Corona typewriter from Groton, NY

Not my "hometown" per se but I was born in the same place as this "tool." (The worlds largest farm tractor - the big bud 747 made in Havre MT) My family farmed about 45 minutes west of here and we later moved south and eventually leased out the farmland that was left. I was fortunate to grow up farming in the "golden triangle" of Montana wheat country but the economics didn't work out for me to run the farm. I'm a commercial pilot now as driving airplanes seemed the second best thing to driving tractors. Its probably for the best (for my family anyway) and I don't stress about my income or what the market is doing but I'll always long for the country/farm life.
