The standard for fishing In the Ocean for as long as I can remember has been a pair of dikes and Duckies. Typically these were 338 dikes and the 738 duckbill pliers by Channellock. I carry the Duck bills , but replaced the dikes with Claus titanium shears. I find the shears hand to cut line fins and gills to bleed fish.

What tools do you guys bring fishing?

Scissors, forceps, tweezers, swiss army knife, drill bits LOL I'm serious ! & side cutters. the drill bits we use for drilling boilies & trout pellets for hair rigging & also bait needles. I'm mainly into river fishing.

Picture of my terminal tackle box, the bait needles & bait drill bit is in the top 2nd compartment to the left side, the 1's with the orange handles.

It depends, what kind of fishing are you doing? For me I fish from a kayak or a boat or a jet ski and mostly in a river. The kayak sometimes sees lake fishing. sometimes I just bring a multi tool sometimes the whole gambit of forceps, multi tool, cutters, and needle noses.

Another one I have on the boat are these cutters with large handles and small cutting blades but perfect for cutting a hook or split ring in a hurry

Petzel head lamp... I go in the evenings off the beach mainly...

I remember when head lamps first came out, prior to that we used to take our eyebrow off with the coleman dual fuel lantern. All of a sudden you didnt need to stick match into gas rich glass enclosure and waiting for the woooosh!!!

Texas tackle makes real good split ring pliers. Orange handles with gold colored steel. I use them mostly for salt water plugs. Run about $ 15

I bring a pair of stainless needle nose pliers, a pocket knife, and a pair of large nail cutters. I use the nail cutters to cut fishing line. I use the pocket knife on split rings.

I also bring crimpers so I can make my own steel leaders. The Blue fish chew right through the leaders. I also bring a small bat, flash light and a small shovel for digging up fresh clams.

Combo locking forceps/scissors with a lanyard attached. Cuts line, snugs up line and can aid in hook removal.

I catfish on rivers at night mainly in land locked Oklahoma. So tools for me would be:
-Sharp knife on the hip
-Pliers needle nose and CeeTee slip joints
-Headlamp
-Pistol
-Small shovel
-Hand saw

Those with tackel, jon boat, gear and a snack I'm good for all night.
