Hey guys I was thinking today while cleaning out the bag of tools i keep in my trucks tool box and was thinking with all the moisture that gets on them from the cool weather if i should worry about rust and if so any tips to prevent this? Probably an uphill battle but just curious

Just spray them down with WD40 and wipe them down to get the excess off. Works like a charm!!! I do my truck tools at least twice a year, and never had any problems with rust. I also spray all moving parts (adujable wrenches and pliers) and move them a few times to work the WD40 into all the nooks and cranny's. Hope this helps you out.

I keep them in old DeWalt box's. I cut out all the dividers and they make great, durable, mostly water proof tool boxes. I am sure if you put some rubber seal on the lid it would be almost perfect.

another option would be military ammo cans you can order them online or ebay in a bunch of sizes from small to very large, they have a waterproof seal

I take those little silica packs that come with electronics and toss them into the tool boxes to keep the moisture out.

I have tools that I've carried in my last two trucks for almost 40 years. The trucks sat outside in weather from +110 in summer to -44 in winter. They haven't rusted yet, so why worry?
