First thing that came to mind was the Dremel kit I HAD TO HAVE back around '89. Cut a couple model railroad ties and thats it until I Discovered it in an old toolbox in the shed. I use it almost everyday now. The most useless would be the Craftsman dogbone my niece(sorry sweetheart) gave me 2 years ago. I think we all know why.

And within 24 hours of selling "that tool I bought but never use" you're gonna need it!

Seriously, I sold my wet/dry vac after letting it sit in the shed for 9 years.
A week after I sold it, the basement pump quit working, and I had to grab one asap from Home Depot to help dry everything out.

First off, best wishes on your health. I always tried to buy stuff if I have a need for it. Starting out I had a borrow 3 times, I need to own it rule. When I switched jobs from cars to farm tractors, a lot of tools went idle. I started doing a lot of auto side work, which involved more auto special tools. I have slowed down my side work, so there is eaisly $5000 worth of specialty tools that maybe get used once a year. For a while I had more money then sence and a lot of "shiny tool day". Then I switch brands of equipment, so a fair number of tools I used everyday just sit. Where I work now has limited shop tools with a tight fist owner. Thats fine, I'm the type of guy who likes owning his own. So if I ever change jobs, there will more tools that will most likely sit.

As for tools that are seldom used my 3 piece set of Robogrip pliers is top of that list - just don't like 'em. Also, I have non locking flex head ratchets that I don't care for much. The guy at Sears convinced my wife that I'd like flex heads better than non flex for Christmas several years ago. Hey, at least they are in mint condition still!
